Mantra for Ultimate Bliss by Swami Sarvapriyananda | Ramkrishna Monastery, CA

  • Buddha said: “Beyond thousands of millions of buddha-lands, there is a land called Ultimate Bliss. This land has a Buddha called Amitabha. Now he appears teaching the Dharma” In these words of Buddha there is a profound, intimate, esoteric meaning. Do you recognize it or not?
    Blissful is solitude
    for one who’s content,
    who has heard the Dhamma,
    who sees.
    Blissful is non-affliction
    with regard for the world,
    restraint for living beings.
    Blissful is dispassion
    with regard for the world,
    the overcoming of sensuality.
    But the subduing of the conceit “I am”-
    That is truly
    the ultimate bliss.

    I was standing in my kitchen when it hits me that I have always been me and have never changed, even though my body have changed and everything keeps changing but I always remain me. This was a realizations that shook the foundation of my religious beliefs as a Christian. I also realize that I was love and have always been love. That's when I realized I am that I am and in fact we all are. It's our conditioning that makes us believe we are separate.

      I mean the above with all sincerity ..
      By the way ..listen to lecture on 'Vedantic Christianity' by Swani Chidbrahmananda ... if you look closely ...all religions are trying to point to the same truth ... you can either look for that universal truth ..or fight over differences ...

    If you clearly grasp what Mr. Sarvapriyaanada says here, you will really be liberated and in bliss all your living life. The caveat is that you do not come with a belief system, prejudice or judgment and also don't think that he himself speaks from any religious background, then you will understand it. Once understood, you do not have to waste a lifetime to understand or follow the progressive pathway to salvation.

      @jybinu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mr. Bharat, I could be wrong on this. But still trying to answer your question.
      The answer can't be expressed in language. It is about "being". Our state is like... Gold thinking it is a bangle or ring or necklace... but failing to realise it is gold and it nature is gold. Being gold is not a function but it is the very essence or quintessence of the bangle or ring is essentially gold. On the other hand when getting identified as bangle, the bangle is a function and not essence. Hope that helps 🙂

    • @kadavakooti
      @kadavakooti 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jybinu I am greatful for your kind reply....but can gold think about anything apart from itself?...just as rope can't think that it is serpant, and it remains as rope only, indifferent to the other seeing serpant in the rope...so, gold is gold and rope is rope, then what else is "THAT"... which sees or assumes, the bangle or serpant, in the gold or rope?

    • @jybinu
      @jybinu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kadavakooti ... Before saying anything, may I let you know that I too am in the pursuit of seeking the absolute truth and I am far from any sort of realisation. So I request you to consider this as a friendly and mutual discussion or dialogue.
      I agree with what you have said, but analogies and examples have their limitations in conveying the reality, they helps is only to a certain extent.
      The moment we were born, we were identified with a body, then gender, name, family, cast, religion, so on,. We were bombarded and constantly psychologically conditioned with these external attributes and indentities... While there is a humongous emphasis on external attributes, very little emphasis or attention has been paid to our inner being. We are all driven by the motives of self preservation enumerated in the Maslow's hierarchy. We hardly get an opportunity to interospect about our absolute authentic essence.
      We are immersed and soaked in the relativistic truth and are oblivious of the absolute truth e.g sun goes around the earth from east to west but absolute reality is earth spins on its own axis.
      Another e.g. person A. If we ask who is Mr A? All we can say about Mr A is nothing but any number of attributes but not what he is. Even if we ask Mr. A, all he can say is his name, his job, his family so on and so forth. Neither he can say anything apart from attributes of him...
      The bottom lines is:
      we are not our attributes
      Attributes are not the absolute who we are.
      Languages and thoughts can only take us to a limited extend
      But true essence is beyond the realm of words thoughts
      The truth is "am" of the "I am". But we wrongly identify ourselves with deceptive identities.
      Some of the baffling things that puzzles and interests me are the true nature of time, space, motion, distance, work/effort, prime numbers etc...

    • @jybinu
      @jybinu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes; Gold does not think it is an ornament and the rope doesn't think it is a serpent,
      but we humans do think so, don't we?! I am a father, I am a son, I am a doctor, etc.. but not as the "am".
      Reading Nissarga Dut's "I am that" and Ramna Maharishi'e Atmavichara can help us a lot.

    Same thing getting repeated again and again. Meaningless. Who has experienced mokha or nirvana? None. Why should a state, where there is neither death nor birth, give us bliss? No justification, as it is total annihilation. No doubt, I am not body itself, as I am using eleven senses of my body, to interact with outside. But, that does not prove when my body will die, I shall not and I shall move to another body as per past karma or works done. Even if it is, how do I know my new embodiment will be as per my likings. I do not agree to speaker, that Vedanta is introduced in west by Swami Vivekananda, saying it is to stop people going to heaven. No religion can thrive without giving hope of blissful afterlife. In fact, 11 years before Swami Vivekananda's famous speech at World Parliament of religion, in 1882, Franz Mischel, Dresden, Heinrich translated Upanishads from Persian to German. Anyway, it appears to be prudent to enjoy whatever one have now, at the moment, than to get excited on hearing about mirage of blissful life lurking in dark cave of afterlife.
