This is one of the programmes on BBC television from several decades ago. It is marvelous that it has found its way to TH-cam. No other programme quite like it was ever produced. It is unique and every episode was a delight to view. Well done, Uploader of this episode.

Lived in Stamford for most of my life and I'm a Collyweston slater so this film absolutely resonates with me! Have worked on several of the roofs featured in this film!

Available as a BBC set of 4 DVDs. A complete joy, as ACT might say.

As a Rutlander at the time of the original screening I was very often in Stamford so this film shows it exactly as I knew it - thanks for uploading!

Threre were three series made, then Alec joined the choir invisible. Some time ago, the whole three series were uploaded here - then disappeared again - probably copyright issues. Nice to see some reappear again...

    then modern architecture happened.
Never has such a high architectural water mark been reached since Edwardian times.

I visited in 2018, and it didn’t look that different.

It's not the 'brash, high-rise blocks' that are the problem, it's the detached houses in new developments.
