I always dreamed of hearing this song at my wedding. Just so happens that I was married in my Pastors office, so I asks my daughter to have someone sing it at her wedding and she gladly agreed. This is a beautiful song.
This is Joe Cocker and not Ray Charles. If you didnt know who Joe Cocker was then you would prob think it was Ray Charles. They are both soulful and have similar voices. RIP both of you. If you dont know who Joe Cocker is then Netflix has a great documentary on him.
There is a live version of this song with Joe Cocker and Ray Charles performing it. Joe sang the first verse and Ray played piano accompaniment. Ray sang some of the second verse and a couple of parts they sang together. You might see the video in the right column. And if you listen, you'll hear Ray's signature piano style which is absent in this recording. You will also hear them both sing and you will discover that the person singing here in this video is Joe Cocker, not Ray Charles. :)
My younger Brother sent me this song after I sent home photos of my New Hairstyle for 2024 ! He told me in his text and over the phone that I Was So Beautiful To Him. 😂😂❤🎉😢😅😊
WTF. This is the 4th listing that says Ray Charles. I really want to hear Ray do this song. What the Heck is wrong with all you people posting this? They're all Joe Cocker!
now don't quote me but I think joe wrote the song for ray when he past or something, or they song it at his funeral. only scenario that makes sense a little bro lol.
I don't know where you got an idea like that. Billy Preston wrote the song along with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys in 1973. Joe Cocker recorded it in 1974 and it was released as a single in 1975.Ray Charles died in 2003.
on SOUTH LOS 13 im reminiscing on my girl who passed away in 2012 she caught a bullet to the neck when we were driving home from a party. r.i.p Teresa ima always miss you baby
Billy Preston wrote "You Are So Beautiful" with one of his regular collaborators, Bruce Fischer. Preston's inspiration was his mother, who worked as a stage actress. According to his friend Sam Moore (who had assumed it was a standard love song), Preston was appalled to learn that Moore was using the song as a means to attract young women each time he sang it in concert. In Moore's description, Preston told him: "That song's about my mother!"
Cocker the first to record it and perform it CORRECTLY! Billy Preston also recorded it a year or two before Cocker. Preston's original version was a little faster. Cocker's version is the way it should have been performed the first time. It was by far Cocker's biggest hit. To be fair only Cocker could perform it the way he did. And it will never get old or ever not be perfect the way Cocker recorded it. Timeless perfection! Beautifully done! So much emotion, sad undertones yet it made me feel happy and excited that I could one day feel like that about someone. That man can deliver a love song. And it was only a little over a year after Cocker released it that I found my first real love of my life. I wonder how many couples have made love to that song? And how many more in the future? My very first time, we had the pleasure of listening to the radio when that song came on right after I talked her into having sex, for the first time! Both myself and my girlfriend were virgins, me about 2 weeks before my 16th bday, I had been driving me and my two sisters to school for over half of that school year, even though I only had my learners permit. She was 14 and only lived 1/2 mile away. We were in my dad's kick ass customized 76 Chevy van, the outside was white, had 50 series tires and mag wheels, the only windows other than the front windshield and front doors were 2 baby full moon windows near the back of each side, near the top. It had blue shag on every interior surface except the dashboard and except on the small fridge or the mirror on top of it that continued up the wall to the ceiling. It also didn't have shag on the picnic style table in the back of the van. The van had a room in the back separated from the front part by strings of hippy beads! The table dropped down onto 2 bench seats that when in place doubled as a bed with enough cushions to cover the bench and table. I remember the radio kicked ass as it played our song with a Jensen am/fm radio with 8 track and a 80 watt amp pushing Jensen 6x9's on the wall that separates the front with the table/bed and had tweeters with a 25 watt amp in the front doors. The vent window on the driver's side had a sticker on it, said "if this vans rocking, don't bother knocking" and I don't know how much rocking we did but we went home that night no longer virgins, and it just happened to be playing when we lost our innocent's forever, one of the most beautiful songs ever sang by the perfect person to sing it. I still think of her and that night, every time I hear that song, take care Karen!
To explain what I'm going to say next, you don't have to be very good in English, just have a minimum desire to do the best. We have plenty of tools for that today. Here in Brazil we call it "stupidity". And this stupidity is associated with laziness to pay attention and research. It also has the so-called "herd effect". The person sees something wrong and goes after it without knowing it.
My daughter was singing this song today to me and it made me cry. She’s only four years old.
This Song Will Make You 😢Because It's So Heartfelt.
I was lucky enough to see him in concert and it was amazing.

Not Ray, that's Joe Cocker, the author and performer of the original song.
Joe Cocker isn't the author of this song. Billy Preston wrote it.
