This scene always makes me tear up :( I remember back when I was hanging out with my rowdy buddies my father told me they weren't my friends and said you'll be lucky in life to find one real friend, someone that would be there for you no matter what. And I remember watching my father visit his friend who was dying from MS you couldn't understand a word he was mumbling but somehow my father knew what he was trying to tell him, I'll never forget that.

She was Catholic and marriage between First Cousins is prohibited by the Catholic Church. She joined the Sisters of Charity and became known as Sister Mary Melanie. They did keep up a correspondence for the rest of his life. After his death their letters to each other were found in his personal effects. A notice in the Colorado Springs newspaper after his death stated that all of his personal effects would be sent to Sister Melanie.

I can understand. I told my family I wouldn't want them to see me die. To me that is the moment of ultimate weakness.
