The headress is a wimple, unmarried women and nuns wore them in medieval times to hide their hair because it was unseemly to show it (for unmarried people). Which makes it funnier that Adam drew her hair outside.

Hi Adam and Steph! I have seen several comments saying the girl is wearing nuns clothes, which can be but it also looks very much like traditional Dutch maiden wear (from like 1600-1900). Especially in combination with the apron, hat and shoes (which might be 'klompen'/wooden shoes). Anyway that's what it made me think of. Hope you guys are well!

In the other video, a lot people were saying they were Dutch and they had these books as a tradition in their culture. I feel like that gives a LOT of credence to this.
Yeah, I thought so too. I'm a belgian who loves history, so I saw those style of clothes a few times (I think I also saw it on tiles on Catawiki). I do think that its dutch (I've also seen that style of art in older dutch or belgian art).

The outfit for the girl looks like an traditional maidens outfit from the past in the Netherlands the outfit is usually a white hat with a dress and a kind of shoes called klompen (it are wooden shoes)
I adore hearing you two say the words "big dumpy" with your accents, I know it might not seem like much to you but to an american your accents are so pleasant
I think he’s supposed to be hiding something under his shirt from the lady, but you know abscess works too lol

Burs, they are called burs and it is a pain to get them off your pupper's fur. Also the Dumpy redraw looks great! :)
The ones we have in south Florida are called “sand spurs” by the locals and they are SO sharp and hurt so bad when they get stuck in your skin 😳 I’ve had to pluck them out from between the poor dogs’ toes plenty of times.

Always here for the banishment of curses for wholesome content. Dogs with jobs is a long time favorite of mine and seeing Adam draw dogs always makes me happy.

I wondered…..complete guess…..whether the girl is in Dutch dress and Dumpy is supposed to be from the story where the little Dutch boy plugs the hole in the leaking dike with his finger. Perhaps the water shot up his sleeve and filled his trousers 🤣? No wonder the girl is looking astonished!

I loved Adam’s interpretations so much! I also thought about the lump on the little guys’ back could be matching backpack hahaha, also I commented a few videos ago Steph and I had matching frog bucket hats and wrist casts but now we also have matching frog coin pouches! I got mine two years ago for my birthday and it’s kind of fuzzy and a bit ugly but I still love it 🥰

Truth be told, I feel like the characters look like illustrations from Mother Goose books that my grandparents had when they were little, which would put the publication date during the 1920s.

Oh yay!! I was just watching your videos whilst sewing a christmas present for my dad! I watched the first video and when i heard that you were going to be redrawing some of the things from the book, i got really excited!! Me and my 8 year old sister really enjoy watching your videos and she redrew the cursed diarrhea picture from your “drawing my husband’s greatest fears” video and i told her i was going to send it to you on instagram. I haven’t yet, but i will soon, so keep a look out for that lol!

Also my patronus is a dolphin so yay for aquatic patronus buddies!
Totally a tangent but it seems like in Harry Potter the animagus form is usually the same as the patronus so imagine learning to be an animagus without knowing your patronus is something like a dolphin and you transform outside of the water and are just flipping all over the place.
I've always called those little weed things sticky bobs, there used to be some down the bottom of my garden and the dog would often get it stuck in his fur. I really love your videos!

As people said: its probably a dutch maiden from the middle ages. She has an apron and "klompen", which are usually brownish yellow, wooden shoes. It gives me a bit "het melkmeisje" vibes (its a painting). Nuns also didn't wear blue, I think (only white and black, depends on what rank you where). The only other people that I know that wear blue and a white apron are midwives (I mean, from "Call the Midwife", but that's way too late for the time period).
Fun fact:
People used to wear cloths on their heads to absorb the oils in their hair (as they didn't wash it that often). They used to change that cloth a few times per day. They also combed their hair at least twice a day for spreading the oils and they braided their hair as well (the latter is for stopping your hair from splitting).
I orginally thought that dumpy was sitting and leaning forward. 😂

I have yellow rainboots that I'm known for :) people can spot me from a mile away and it tends to make ppl happy so it has tons of utility on top of the waterproofing

I didn't known you started regular videos, but love it. I hope you will get diagnosed soon and will be getting better. I have slightly shakey hands and it can get annoying, I can only imagine having pronounced tremor like you have, it can get tasking and hard to handle. I admire your optimism. Last several winters my colds end up with a caugh that can last for months sometimes and not knowing how to handle it or how to get a relief can get hard and depressing. More so because I'm a teacher and I need to talk a lot. The therapist for expressing your feelings is a great idea. 👍 I wish you get the help you need 😀 Maybe doing 2 a week is a bit over ambitious with your health issues, I would rather watch you once a week for a long time but to get you overexert yourself.
I'm not sure of the proper name for those sticky balls, but I had a flashback of the day my afghan hound collected so many of them in her long hair during her run lol. It looked funny but was quite a job grooming them all out lol.
I would love to see them do a drawing for ALL the poems and drawings but that may be a bit to much 😅

the floating nun (?) in the picture reminded me of this tv show from the 60's that my aunt talked abt called "the flying nun"... i believe it was an american series but the female character in the drawing is dressed similar to how nuns dressed back then! lol

I enjoyed this video very much! Thanks! I seem to remember the first character from an old OZ book, Maybe The Patchwork girl of OZ? She went around the country and met all sorts of people, creatures and animals too! I kinda thought your "dumpy" guy was a L.Frank Baum character called a "totten hot" his first books were illustrated by WW DENSLOW: William Wallace Denslow and John R. Neill who did the majority of OZ and other stories for Baum! He was in fact known as "Royal Historian of Oz". Well that was the image I thought of when you were going though the book but I just did not recall any specifics about it until this video! You guys keep going and I hope you both have a happy and healthy Holiday season!

One time, my niece was supposed to be sleeping but, she snuck into the bathroom to read a book she borrowed from me instead. When my sister knocked and asked her what she was doing in the bathroom she opened the door and said "nothing!" with her hands behind her back. My sister asked to see her hands and my niece showed her empty hands off. My sister discovered that she had stuffed my book down the back of her pants to hide it. I am now going to refer to my niece as "Big Dumpy."
I did once go out to the garden by a hotel I was once, and went through a pile of leaves, then in was covered with sticky willies from shoulder to toe. 😂🤣

I think Mister Dumpy would have been based on the older interpretation of clowns. Back when their "Drunkard" backgrounds were a bit more pronounced; Tattered clothes, red nose, exaggerated expression, but always with the big hoop pants. Actually can't explain the hair but I suppose maybe windswept and interesting.

I think the boy is supposed to be sitting down, and that’s why his back looks like that. Maybe the artist was drawing from a reference and tried to get it as accurate as possible but in doing so sacrificed something of the accuracy of the anatomy or fabric folds 🤷🏽♀️. Or maybe it was just an awkward position that didn’t really make sense when copied onto paper.
