Mine too and yes I’ve read the book by victor Hugo the fact it was made a musical is fantastic it brings it to life and the book is king so unless you’re a avid reader you won’t stick with it the musical yes you will
I read the brilliant book Les Miserable when I was 12. I sat in wonder for several moments right after finishing it. The musical production left me in awe, too. The Confrontation song performance was part of that magic.
I was blown away when I saw this on stage. The David Hasselhof version, however, is pitchy, and his voice is way too thin to for such an operatic role.
“Devil Take the Hindmost” from Love Never Dies. Musical fight between Raoul de Chagney and Erik/Phantom. Winner: Erik! With this song, and its companion of Erik getting Christine to stay and sing on His stage, He sets up a “heads I win, tails you lose” situation. Plus getting to plant the idea that Gustave might not be Raoul’s son after all is icing on the cake. “The Final Lair” from The Phantom of the Opera. A 3 way battle, Erik fights Raoul for Christine’s love, and Christine is pitted between two men she loves for different reasons. Winner: 3-way tie. Christine is free to choose who *she* wants to give her heart to, Raoul gets to walk away, and Erik has felt the love He has craved his entire life.
Confrontation is so perfect! Especially the 10th anniversary edition :) I do also love You're Nothing Without Me from City of Angels, a writer against his creation where the writer wins!
Les Mis Confrontation thoroughly deserves top spot, they way they sing overlapping, but still both are completely clear, so determined in their position is fantastic. Personally I'd have had Take that look off your face higher.
I think i got you beat from Shrek the musical, and i'm on Shrek's side. Happy thursday night, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
so here’s a crazy thought - have you ever noticed how some people just seem to have a magnetic energy about them, like they attract good things without even trying? i asked a few friends what changed, and almost all of them mentioned reading vibrations of manifestation by alex lane. at first, i thought they were just being dramatic, but after seeing how they’ve been changing the way they approach life, i’m starting to get it. it’s not about wishing for things to happen; it’s about aligning your energy with what you really want and trusting that things will follow. these friends of mine are more grounded, more confident, and honestly, they seem to be attracting the right people and opportunities into their lives. i’m not saying it’s the solution to everything, but if you’ve ever felt disconnected or like things aren’t flowing the way you want, it could be worth a shot. you might just start attracting the right things into your life too.
First of all,, surprised to hear high school musical to mention. I didn’t even consider it. Also, a traveling song from Shrek the musical. The winner is donkey, although it’s rather close to being a tie. It’s fun without being overly aggressive.
“Dearest, Darlingest, Momsie and Popiscle,” “My Dear Father, Thank you for letting me Stay-“ “Guess WHAT?:-” “-In Regards to our Request that I Move In with Nessa.” “I CAN’T Hear Your ‘Guesses’, So THIS….IS… ‘A Letter’.” “I Know How Much She Wants To Be-.” (SCRATCHES/ERASES THAT OFF) “So I’ll Just TELL You:” (Start of the Song)
I would have added an honorable mention for The Outsiders. Maybe Justice For Tulsa, though with the plot, there are several songs that could be chosen.
Looking for this one “you try my patience, make your choice!” 😂😂😂was thinking maybe I’m just too old but if you’re going to include Les miz, you have to at least honorable mention that one.
City of Angels has an all time great confrontation song in “you’re nothing without me” to conclude act 1. Check it out. If the show was more widely known, it probably would have made the list. “Your fault” from into the woods is a solid confrontation song as well. Although maybe it doesn’t qualify because it has too many different sides. Not just two.
Its not a popular enough musical to be considered, but "My House" from Pierre, Natasha and the Great Comet of 1812 is perfection. The way the godmother character takes down her naive charge and lets her know just how badly she messed up is a delight to listen to and sing along.
Good inspiration. Wanting to put together a themed cabaret of all the best angry, rage, and confrontational songs. Also one not mentioned I love is GOOD FOR YOU from Dear Evan Hansen. It's really an ultimate F*** You anthem. Still angry it was NOT in the film even though the pep band plays it in a Pep Rally. For those who do not know, Evan Hansen is an outcast with social anxiety. As an assignment from his therapist, he is given an assignment to write a letter to himself that gets out in public. School Bully "Connor Murphy" takes the letter personal and kills himself with "Evan" creating a growing lie that they were friends. Throughout the course of the LIE, Evan is spending time with The Murphys and fallen smitten for his sister "Zoe". All of it caused betrayal between Evan's mom "Heidi" and his 2 best friends "Alana" and "Jared", who are also making a special project to honor "Connor" even though he was an outcast too. At the start of GOOD FOR YOU, "Heidi" finds out "Evan" has been lying about being with "Jared" and "Alana" by spending more time with "The Murphys", who take "Evan" in as if they were her son. They offer to pay for Evan's college tuition. Meanwhile, Alana gets suspicious over emails between Evan and created by "Evan" and "Jared"..... continuing to expand the lie. "Jared" himself becomes angry when he feels as if "Evan" is abusing their friendship for personal gain. Basically, " Heidi", "Alana", and "Jared" singing this song as a F*** You to "Evan" for his guilt and doubt over his decisions.
I was beginning to have a fit until I saw you had indeed included ‘You Will Not Touch Him’ from ‘Miss Saigon’ in the honourable mentions. Personally I think it should be much higher. When I saw this live in 2015, it was undoubtedly the most intense moment of the show. The characters were screaming across the stage as they sung. Kim’s steadfast, yet increasingly desperate, warning that she will do what she needs to do to protect her son contrasts impeccably with Thuy’s maddening rage as he rants about duty, honour and blood. Even after his death, it ends with Kim howling as she faces what she has done. It’s a truly oustanding confrontation song. Thrilled also that ‘The Confrontation’ is first as it deserves to be and that you used the ‘Dream Cast’ for your video.
okay, so i’ve been hearing about vibrations of manifestation by alex lane from a few friends lately, and i wasn’t sure what to think at first. but the more i listened, the more i realized that it wasn’t just another self-help book about thinking happy thoughts. it’s more about understanding how your energy and intentions can actually shape your experience. the people i know who read it started making real shifts - one friend found a job they thought was out of reach, another reconnected with an old passion. it’s not all about “positive thinking” in a cliché way, it’s about aligning with the things you truly want. if you’re feeling stuck or disconnected, it might help you find that missing piece. i don’t know if it works for everyone, but a lot of people around me have definitely started living with more intention after reading it.
Google confrontation is your face I agree with your first choice, and most of the list, I am a little surprised that 'Your fault' from into the woods wasn't on it even as an honorable mention though.
Uuuhhh you left out "I Don't Like You" from Galavant. Clearly this was just an accident, because it does have the line, "this serf might be up, but I'm taking her down"
funny enough, i didn’t think i needed a book on manifestation until a friend handed me vibrations of manifestation by alex lane. honestly, i thought the whole idea of manifestation was a bit overhyped, but after hearing a bunch of people talk about how it changed their perspective, i thought, “why not?” they weren’t all talking about it in that cheesy way where everything suddenly becomes perfect, but they were definitely more focused, more aware of the energy they put out, and more aligned with what they actually wanted. one of them even started attracting opportunities they’d been chasing for years. i’m not saying it’s the one fix-all answer, but it definitely opened some eyes around me. if you’ve ever felt like you’re not attracting the right things or you’re stuck in a rut, maybe this book could help you shift things.
One thing I never understood about #4: Anita tells Maria that a boy who kills "cannot love" and "has no heart". Um Anita, you do realize that your deceased boyfriend Bernardo was ALSO a killer, right? (After all, he did kill Riff - and probably killed other gang members before.) I'm just saying; Bernardo wasn't exactly a saint either.
That’s a good point, and if I may, I’d like to propose a potential reasoning. In West Side Story, Anita objects to Bernardo being a gang leader, fighting in the streets, etc. She tells him, “Boys don’t have war councils.” Following Bernardo’s death she no doubt grieves the love she lost, but also recognizes the circumstances leading to his death…and her disdain for them. She likely doesn’t want her best friend to go through what she’s now going through. Falling in love with a boy who kills (for whatever reason) will only lead to heartbreak and pain for you. And maybe when she says, “One of your own kind, stick to your own kind,” she’s not talking about a Puerto Rican man but one who’s good and decent and kind like Maria.
funny story, i was always a little skeptical about all these books on manifestation until a friend kept bringing up vibrations of manifestation by alex lane. at first, i thought it was just another one of those books where people say “think positive and everything will fall into place,” but the more i heard about it, the more intrigued i got. it wasn’t just about wishful thinking; it was about understanding the energy you’re putting out and how that shapes your reality. a lot of people i know who read it seem to have found a new kind of focus, and they’re attracting opportunities and relationships they’ve been hoping for. not saying it works like a magic trick, but there’s something about it that really clicked for them. maybe it’ll click for you too.
"The Blame" from Titanic (the Maury Yeston show): The Owner, Designer, and Captain all try to assign blame for the disaster as the Titanic sinks. In the end, God wins. "Ismay, I'm just in the business of building, It's God who sinks ships!"
They got confused by L Frank Baum's 1900 book, where Glinda is the Witch of the South. Wicked is based on the 1939 movie where she is the Witch of the North.
I was worried Confrontation as a runner up; didn't know about the Jekyll & Hyde one. Les Miz absolutely had to be #1. Hard to pick a winner; it depends how you look at it.
Jekyll & Hyde's is done much better on several audio recordings. Hasselhoff's is certainly not the best (likely all they could get a clip for). But I would have put that above many on this list. (Also, though he does get the last actual word in that tiff, I would say Jekyll does not win that at all...)
Good list, but it's missing "Who I Am" from next to normal. Can't say too much without giving the big reveal away, but Gabe soundly beats Dan, and it's heartbreaking for everyone involved.
In 2 months my sister is moving out of the house and I'm getting a break from her and on Saturday I'm going to buy Keurig and kpods of coffee and I'm going to share it with Anna and Chad y'all
What Is This Feeling is SOO amazing. Arguably one of the best songs in Wicked
For me it's *THE* best song in"Wicked"!💗💛💚🖤
LES MISERABLES AT FIRST IS SO PEAK. IT ABSOLUTELY DESERVED TO BE AT THE TOP. FAVORITE MUSICAL OF ALL TIME ❤️🫰
Mine too and yes I’ve read the book by victor Hugo the fact it was made a musical is fantastic it brings it to life and the book is king so unless you’re a avid reader you won’t stick with it the musical yes you will
I read the brilliant book Les Miserable when I was 12. I sat in wonder for several moments right after finishing it. The musical production left me in awe, too. The Confrontation song performance was part of that magic.
I read the title of the video and this was the first song I thought of. A song called “Confrontation” HAD to be #1. Lol

I didnt even need to read this comment to know uts number one. Its phenomenal.
I was getting ready to riot. I’m glad that the Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde at least got an honorable mention. It’s my favorite!
I was blown away when I saw this on stage. The David Hasselhof version, however, is pitchy, and his voice is way too thin to for such an operatic role.
It should have had it's own place on the list outside the HMs in my opinion. It's a powerful song that has so many callbacks within the musical.
Came here to mention Devil Take
The Hindmost! Great number!
Need to add "At the End of the Day" from Les Miz to this list. The way the workers confront and turn on Fantine is brutal
Idina Menzel got in the #2 & #3 spot (original Broadway cast) - with that powerful of a voice, she the queen of confrontation songs.
I absolutely love how this channel cannot shut up about Wicked😂💖💚
Confrontation is so perfect! Especially the 10th anniversary edition :) I do also love You're Nothing Without Me from City of Angels, a writer against his creation where the writer wins!
Les Mis Confrontation thoroughly deserves top spot, they way they sing overlapping, but still both are completely clear, so determined in their position is fantastic. Personally I'd have had Take that look off your face higher.
seeing as Hamilton is on this list, Happy Birthday Lin-Manuel Miranda!! he is 45 today
You totally missed The American and Florence fighting in Nobody’s Side in Chess. Best musical couple’s fight ever!
I was scrolling comments looking for this!!
@ Right?!?! I was amazed it wasn’t here already.
I can't believe "You're Nothing Without Me" from "City of Angels" wasn't mentioned. 😮
I totally agree! How can you pass over a confrontation song between an author and his character whose fame overshadows his own?
What about Your Fault from Into the Woods?
that one should definitely have been on the list too!
@LRB9498 thank U.
I think i got you beat from Shrek the musical, and i'm on Shrek's side. Happy thursday night, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well

The fuck does that have to do with musical theatre, man? Sounds like you're a bot trying to get people to join your cult. XP
Galinda/Glinda won her classmates, but Elphaba got the Dean's attention and a bit of respect from Dr.Dillamond.
What a fun list! Love it - and that first choice 👌
First of all,, surprised to hear high school musical to mention. I didn’t even consider it. Also, a traveling song from Shrek the musical. The winner is donkey, although it’s rather close to being a tie. It’s fun without being overly aggressive.
as soon as I saw that this video had been uploaded I KNEW what would be number one
“Dearest, Darlingest, Momsie and Popiscle,”
“My Dear Father, Thank you for letting me Stay-“
“Guess WHAT?:-”
“-In Regards to our Request that I Move In with Nessa.”
“I CAN’T Hear Your ‘Guesses’, So THIS….IS… ‘A Letter’.”
“I Know How Much She Wants To Be-.” (SCRATCHES/ERASES THAT OFF)
“So I’ll Just TELL You:”
(Start of the Song)
For a moment I was so confused about the incorrect lyrics before I remembered they changed it for the movie 🥲
I would have added an honorable mention for The Outsiders. Maybe Justice For Tulsa, though with the plot, there are several songs that could be chosen.
I knew Confrontation would be on this list. I'm thrilled to see it in First. Also great to see Take Me or Leave Me as Second.
How about the Finale of the Phantom of the Opera. This is literally a climax that is sung through.
Looking for this one “you try my patience, make your choice!” 😂😂😂was thinking maybe I’m just too old but if you’re going to include Les miz, you have to at least honorable mention that one.
I love some of these confrontational songs from musicals ❤
Anything You Can Do should absolutely be higher!
elphaba definitely won what is this feeling
City of Angels has an all time great confrontation song in “you’re nothing without me” to conclude act 1.
Check it out. If the show was more widely known, it probably would have made the list.

Waltz for Evita and Che from Evita should also be on this list!
Yes!
How do you ignore far more bombastic confrontations like in Chess, Jesus Christ Superstar??
The Last Supper… good point!
For me, this is your best video.
Glad you think so!
Honourable mention for Franklin Shepard, Inc from Merrily We Roll Along! Technically only one person singing, and yet 😂
Good inspiration. Wanting to put together a themed cabaret of all the best angry, rage, and confrontational songs. Also one not mentioned I love is GOOD FOR YOU from Dear Evan Hansen. All iconic I wouldn’t be able to pick a favorite
I would have added "You Don't Know"/"I Am The One" from "Next To Normal."
I was beginning to have a fit until I saw you had indeed included ‘You Will
Not Touch Him’ from ‘Miss Saigon’ in the honourable mentions. Personally I think it should be much higher. When I saw this live in 2015, it was undoubtedly the most intense moment of the show. I thought Glinda was the Good Witch of the North (or maybe that’s just the 1939 version of the character)
She is. I mean they said that in the opening of the movie.
I think it’s a typo.
they combined Glinda the good of south with unnamed good witch of the north in 1939 movie
Watching it as an adult was eye-opening. I wouldn't call her good exactly...
Welcome hooooome
I'm gonna make you wish that you'd stayed goooone 🎶
Say Hello, to a new status quo.🎶

All Songs from These Musicals RANKED! SpongeBob and Beetlejuice!
Uuuhhh you left out "I Don't Like You" from Galavant. Clearly this was just an accident, because it does have the line, "this serf might be up, but I'm taking her down"
But said serf does have the sharper weapons, fiercer hoards, and the princess's booty pinned against the wall
I think "you're nothing without me" from city of angels is a really good one to!
High School Musical I Don't Dance
Check out "Endgame" from "Chess The Musical."
funny enough, i didn’t think i needed a book on manifestation until a friend handed me vibrations of manifestation by alex lane. honestly, i thought the whole idea of manifestation was a bit overhyped, but after hearing a bunch of people talk about how it changed their perspective, i thought, “why not?” they weren’t all talking about it in that cheesy way where everything suddenly becomes perfect, but they were definitely more focused, more aware of the energy they put out, and more aligned with what they actually wanted. one of them even started attracting opportunities they’d been chasing for years. i’m not saying it’s the one fix-all answer, but it definitely opened some eyes around me. if you’ve ever felt like you’re not attracting the right things or you’re stuck in a rut, maybe this book could help you shift things.
how about marvins hits trina and/or i never wanted to love you from falsettos?

9:18 Isn't Glinda the good witch of the NORTH??
I think its north in the movies but south in the books if im correct but i really dont know🥲
Phillip quast is just wonderful as Javert and put him aside colm Wilkinson as valjean and you’ve got a musical face off par excellence . 😊
funny story, i was always a little skeptical about all these books on manifestation until a friend kept bringing up vibrations of manifestation by alex lane. at first, i thought it was just another one of those books where people say “think positive and everything will fall into place,” but the more i heard about it, the more intrigued i got. it wasn’t just about wishful thinking; it was about understanding the energy you’re putting out and how that shapes your reality. a lot of people i know who read it seem to have found a new kind of focus, and they’re attracting opportunities and relationships they’ve been hoping for. not saying it works like a magic trick, but there’s something about it that really clicked for them. maybe it’ll click for you too.
Devil takes the hindmost, from love never dies, is my favorite
NORTH! GLENDA IS THE GOOD WITCH OF THE NORTH!
One of my favorites is “the chess game” from Falsettos
Confrontation from Jekyyll and Hyde should be on the list
I’m surprised Your Fault from Into the Woods isn’t in this
"The Blame" from Titanic (the Maury Yeston show): The Owner, Designer, and Captain all try to assign blame for the disaster as the Titanic sinks. In the end, God wins. "Ismay, I'm just in the business of building, It's God who sinks ships!"
Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson. I know Him So Well. From the musical Chess
I would have included "Good For You" from Dear Evan Hansen. That song should have been included in the film version.
ALRIGHT FINE i'll watch wicked again. twist my arm.
Good Witch of the South??? Excuse me, she’s from the Upper Uplands in the NORTH
They got confused by L Frank Baum's 1900 book, where Glinda is the Witch of the South. Wicked is based on the 1939 movie where she is the Witch of the North.

How was "Your Fault" from Into The Woods left off this list?!! It's a five way Sondheim patter song. And of course The Witch is right!
Good list, but it's missing "Who I Am" from next to normal. Can't say too much without giving the big reveal away, but Gabe soundly beats Dan, and it's heartbreaking for everyone involved.
Feed Me (Git It) from Little Shop of Horrors
Duel Duet from Shock Treatment
I'll Know When My Love Comes Along from.Guys and Dolls
What about "Tradition" from Fiddler on the Roof?
Judah and Jesus in The last supper from the Jesus Christ superstar
No "I don't like you" from Galavant? :(
In 2 months my sister is moving out of the house and I'm getting a break from her and on Saturday I'm going to buy Keurig and kpods of coffee and I'm going to share it with Anna and Chad y'all
Do not interrupt me!
Let me finish what I need to say!
Are you finished now?
Let me get a word in at least!

Honorable mention: Mutiny from Epic the Musical. Seriously Mojo, CHECK THIS MUSICAL OUT, IT'S AWESOME!
