- After a 14 year absence Topps Chrome Basketball is back.... kind of. Today we're chasing after Victor Wembanyama and Lebron James autographs and more in 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball. These boxes are coming in at around $600 and do not feature NBA Team logos as these are unlicensed cards. Will collectors be willing to overlook that for the opportunity to finally chase Wemby rookie autos? Let's talk about it.

Not to sound mean or hateful or disrespectful in any way at all, but, it's just not a very pretty little set regardless of the fact that it doesn't have licensing or not, it just looks very generic and not pretty really at all respectfully.🙏 But, I believe that the market will still make this set attractive and probably ultimately valuable as long as the players in it become great. Do you see a scenario where this set stands alone as the only unlicensed topps chrome basketball set and gains value for that alone? That’s about all I could see if this set having a little bit of historical significance as the re-entry back into the nba for topps.
With that said, I agree- terrible design that looks cheap and unplanned. Design team deserves paycut. Lol

I love unlicensed. I own multiple stroud leaf 1/1 autos, nix etc, but this is overpriced and the images they chose for most are hideous. If you are going to do unlicensed take a page from leaf and wildcard and use certain images. Also the design is ugly and Busch league with the silly cartoon basketball. This product is not for collectors it’s for people who want a lottery ticket to try to get a Wembanyama or James auto. Why wouldn’t they just bring back the 2008 or 2003 design? That would of been much more hyped

$600??? Damn I saw these for $400 a box down here in FL. The card design is atrocious. They need to come right out the gate with the OG 96' Topps Chrome design and go from there. Whoever is designing this shit did it on Canva I swear! How do I get a job @ Topps and design us some really dope stuff!!! I can't take it anymore!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Hard pass for me. Don't mind unlicensed stuff but not at this price. I do like how the wemby card looks but other then that not worth it in my opinion

I have a question. Does anyone know (approximate only) how many rookie cards were signed by Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc? In comparison, how many Wemby autos are out there?
The box design looked better. I was excited but 🙈 Makes no sense! Looks like Topps just threw this together and of course people fold and pay. I’m out! Over 2mil cards I’m done with these companies, their greed, laziness, as well as Target and Walmart resale prices. Investing in gold and silver.
That wembanyama is like $60.... the Haliburton maybe $100 the rest of that crap is nearly worthless
What's hilarious is how everyone will agree that Panini, Topps, all of them, overcharge for everything and especially the last 4 yrs. Then they push this narrative of "if it ain't licensed it's trash!!!" And the hobby echoes their BS to the point that people will just go along with it. But Leaf makes some sick cards and lots of autos. Panini baseball is inexpensive and has tons of cool parallels but " iTS unLiCeNSeD". Just collect what you like

Lmao every influencer or TH-cam ripper literally hit some form of wemby auto out of this topps chrome aside from yourself. Even sky b hit a monster, packman of course got the one /25, Ryan got the normal refractor auto. You apparently didn't get on the buss to sell the hype and get your gifted wemby auto lol. I'm not really saying it's a thing but it kind of looks like a thing lol. All of the biggest channels pulled a wemby on card auto, seems like they are trying to really drive the hype of topps coming back by seeing all the guys on TH-cam that have the largest followings got them one. Then there is poor ol run good who gets dusted on wemby because he's not part of the get along gang.

Question - Do you really think Topps sends creators a package with a box inside saying 'open this one for your channel ;) ' . Do you really believe that is a thing that happen?
Or do you think that maybe that there are creators out there who will record the same video six times, opening six different boxes, and upload the video that had the best hits?
Because that sounds far more likely than me. And it's very obvious that I never do that on my channel.

@@RunGoodLife could be either way, I'd like to trust the integrity of the hobby in most cases, it has shown to have some people with their hands in the cookie jar a time or two though. I don't really know in this case. I'm just making an observation, you seemed to be literally one of the only channels that didn't pull a wemby auto out of the new product. I'd also like to be able to trust the creators that I tend to watch. Like you for instance, I watch because you're legit just a fan of the hobby and a person of fairly high integrity when it comes to the card world. Don't know you personally but Ryan (card collector 2) seems to be a pretty credible guy, packman I want to say the same. I have ran into them here and there at card shows like the monster they seem to be nice guys. Those guys do have a larger budget to break as much as they wanted probably, a guy like sky B isn't cracking box after box because I would assume he doesn't have the same financial situation. I would hope there isn't really a situation where the guys that are opening the products up are getting boxes that are a little juicier than the average guys box of cards just to hype a non licensed product and give it some traction(Wemby & Bron prob do that pretty well anyway). It does look like every big card content creator is pulling a nice Wembanyama. Obviously if people get to see those big cards get pulled it definitely make the product look a lot more attractive. I mean it takes one of the numbered cards in the print run out of rotation, like you said all the big panini wembys just somehow went to China. It does come off a little strange to me that the bigger card channels all show a box or two being opened and pulling pretty big cards. I think packman cracked 4 boxes, Ryan-2, and sky b-1. Idk what are your thoughts honestly? I could see a few guys trying to crack 100 boxes and faking it but at that point doesn't it really become counter productive? I guess it could all make sense at the end of the day if you pull till you hit, sell the hit as well as anything else you get in the boxes, generate some money from the video. Just seems like quite a bit of a process and money being moved around to break even in a lot of cases if you're lucky enough to break even or make a few dollars. If you watched sky's video his was 100% genuine reaction. I didn't really inspect the videos to that extent and wasn't really looking for anything fluky, I just happened to notice it played out that way with this particular product. All the channels I watch hit a Wemby auto. Watching the panini product get ripped open,and I mean I watched cases and cases get ripped. While there were not autos, it wasn't exactly raining wembys on every channel. Even the Blez and some of those guys werent dropping ridiculous Wemby prizm parallels constantly, especially with the amount they cracked open. You would kind of notice if every channel you watched pulled a monster which didn't happen until this product anyhow. It's not like the content creators were running breaks. They were cracking what appeared to be personal boxes anyways. So the long answer is I want to believe everything is on the up and up. The truth is if I'm not personally involved in the packaging distribution and so forth, then I can't obviously call it 100% genuine or otherwise. What are your honest thoughts?
P.S. Also after reading through the comments I'd assume you just get annoyed with everyone getting on here telling you what creator pulled which card the exact moment it happened time and time again like you don't watch any videos yourself lol.
@@RunGoodLife I know you guys buy plenty of product to do what you do and I do enjoy watching some of this stuff (and you're a DT fan if IRCC, I've got the JP Musicman sitting by me, I had to follow enough to pick that nugget out, lol)- so I'm honestly not trying to be overly contentious or be hard on you, but honestly, what are the odds the youtube guys who do what you do are all hitting these things? Fanatics is sending loaded boxes to influencers, the secret is out. And its so unfair for the rest of us. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Those basketballs in the corners of the base cards make it look like some unknown low price card set the cards should have some more eye appeal for $500 to $600 they are just relying on the fanatics exclusive signers to sell the product for them kinda scummy

Without Wemby or Lebron autos, this product would be DOA, especially at that price.

The picture selection is terrible for most, and the design is MEH at best.
This is scary. I went to my lcs and saw these on the shelves asked them for a price and they said 650, i thought that was a joke for an unlicense product. Yeah you can pull wemby, lebron autos but most people are not going to. Imagine when they do have the license, how much is it going to be? 1500? Crazy i thought panini prices was crazy this is crazy

This set is pretty ugly. This is what people were supposed to be excited about? Did they spend so much on the exclusivity deal that they couldn't afford a good design team?
