Love your second part of your trip. Thanks for sharing with us. That’s the fun part about train travel is the friends you make along the way, that you would never meet without riding the train.
This was such a lovely video and I enjoyed your story telling along the way . Made it really interesting 😊. I am an Aussie , but planning to do this trip next year . My parents were penpals ( my dad lived in Australia and my mum was living in Canada. My dad proposed to her over the phone in 1966, then saved up for 12 months and took a ship from Sydney to Vancouver. My mum met him there and they took this train in April 1967 from Vancouver to Toronto and they married in Toronto in June 1967. It’s always been a dream of mine to take the train journey myself . Watching your video brought a tear my eye ❤
I have done this trip and dozens of times , and as you said the last day is a day of reflection , hard to believe it’s gone by so fast . Thanks for a well done video , I’m booked again for Oct , my second trip this year , can’t wait
Hi. I enjoyed your video very much...the first of yours I have seen, I think. I have subscribed. I took the Canadian a few years ago and will be doing so again this December (solo, same as you) as part of a round-the-continent-by-rail journey. I think what I especially liked about the video was how personal it was, while still including the sights, sounds, and flavors of the journey. Your reactions to events along the way, and your feelings about the experience, really added to my enjoyment. Best wishes as you develop the channel.
I enjoyed the video, I rode The Canadian to Toronto last June in an upper berth and then came home in a cabin for one like you had. Both ways the trip seemed to be over so soon. I hope I will be able to o it again, I am sure you feel the same way.
It seems pets can only travel in a baggage car on this train. That is also during cooler temperature months only. Their website has the exact details! www.viarail.ca/en/plan/travelling-with-pets
Great video im glad you met your friends you are so sweet,I’m going in the fall really looking forward to it thanks for posting ,I have the cabin for one it’s small but I think better than the berths more private, did you get to sit alone for all meals?nice to have the option I guess it depends how many are on the trip
Solo diners were always sat with others and tables were 3-4 people during all lunch and dinner. Occasionally during breakfast when there weren't as many people, there were a few tables with only two people! Glad you enjoyed the video, hope you have a great experience!
HI again. Now, I am a couple weeks away from leaving on the Canadian, also in a single roomette. I am wondering about my luggage. I will have a large carry-on size suitcase plus a medium backpack. I saw the overhead luggage space in your roomette. Do you think I will have enough room for my suitcase plus backpack, or should I check the suitcase?
It would depend on how large of a suitcase. Via Rail says Max. size: 64 x 41 x 30 cm (25 x 16 x 12 in) for carry on, which I would think is about the size of that overhead space, but it was quite a hassle to reach. There's also space under the seat which I think was maybe around ~23 inches tall to fit my large backpack.
Hi. I am on board the Canadian now! I brought the suitcase. It did not fit overhead but did fit under the seat. My backpack should fit fine in the overhead space. I am sharing now, as I agonized about this, and perhaps some of your viewers will want to know as well. I am 5'7" and was ok reaching the overhead space. Also, the toilet is below it, so I can stand on that. By the way, the scenery just out of Toronto (where I began) is gorgeous, with a heavy snow having just fallen and more coming down.
I'm chuckling as I wanted you to have made some surprise romance with Bronwen in my head!
To be honest, me too lol.
Was a little nervous around her haha
@@SoloTravelSolTube hope you have her contact info, make it happen!
glad you enjoyed the trip, as I did, did this in january of 2002.
Enjoyed the video ❤
3:37 All of them are welllllllllllllllllll over a half century old…! 😜

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words! They mean a lot to me😊
Hope you also have a great journey😁
Wow, that looked like quite an experience. That is a trip within a trip. Hope you still keep in contact with your friend.
Indeed it was a great experience! I can highly recommend to everyone.
We do occasionally text😁
@SoloTravelSolTube yeah it would be something I'd check out sometime in the future for sure. Seems more entertaining than an Amtrak cross country.
Im doing this trip next month from T-V and this has been the most helpful videos! Well done
You're in for a treat! Landscape will be a lot more colorful than what I saw too!

I do ineed very much hope to go back, perhaps on a colorful season to see the difference!
Thank you so much! Did you smell the toilet at all?
Not at all. The ride was pleasant and cozy!
@@SoloTravelSolTube thank you!
I loved, loved, loved my trip on The Canadian in 2023. Fabulous, and well recommended.
Very nice video. Thanks. Question - are pets allowed on the train ?

I found out you had to ASK for the cheese if you wanted it on your burger! They didn't offer it or mention it, only on request. Weird.
Oh how weird indeed.
Now that I think about it, there were other menus items with cheese in it, so perhaps they just add it upon request!
Don't be so insulting to Canadians
