I wasn't familiar with Jason Mamoa until I heard he was cast as Aquaman. Seeing him for the *1st time,* my immediate reaction was, "WTF? This guy should be Lobo! It's so obvious!"
He should've been Lobo since day one lol. Even if the announcement of him being Lobo is confirmed it won't be a surprise since he fits Lobos personality naturally lol. He was originally up for Drax The Destroyer but turned it down to star in Aquaman which I feel was a total miscast.
He didn't turn drax the destroyer role down,he was fired from it by disney and as for Aquaman I feel he did a good job in the role(I also thougt he would have been a good fit for namor )
That video came out last year and it was confirmed that he was celebrating about the news of him hosting Shark Week last summer. They filmed it months in advance and Discovery had just been bought by Warner Bros
It’s like Jason Momoa was created in a lab for this role. Literally cannot think of another human on earth who could do it. Andrew Bryniarski from 20 years ago, maybe. But Momoa is perfect. It’s the first of the Gunn DC I’m excited for.
If Jason Mamoa is indeed gonna be in the new DCU you’d have to be crazy to think that it wouldn’t be as Lobo, everyone has said from day 1 that he’d be perfect for this role and he’s clearly expressed how much he’d love to play him, which I think is why James Gunn opted to bring him back, he wanted to give Jason the chance to play the role that he truly wanted to play, and if Supergirl is gonna be the next movie following up Superman then it seems like a good place to introduce him, so I’m super excited to hear this and I can’t wait to see what he does with this role
Also Momoa in Supergirl will help the IP as shes not been a very big draw. It will be up to the actress and the writing to keep it good but getting her off to a strong start will sure help and he should be a good draw.
Lobo in a space-based Supergirl film makes at least as much sense as in an Earth-based Superman film. I know there are some pretty big ifs in front of those assumptions, but it sounds realistic.
This reminds me of the brave and the bold: the lords of luck, where supergirl hitches a ride with lobo for a couple of issues. I imagine something like that. Like a couple of scenes.
all mamoa has to do is get in shape thats it wont need any cgi for him at all just makeup , this was also my thoughts on my dream pick for darksied would of been michal clarke duncun ,he was a massive human his voice was deep enough all thye would of need to do would be to give him make up and of course some cgi with the eyes for obvious reasons , but he would of been amazing as good if not better than josh brolin as thanos only diff is michel like a said a massive human , god if only :( r.i.p
To be fair, only time I've seen Milly Alcock is whatever I've seen of 'House of the Dragon' which isn't much cause I just find the writing bad with many of the characters feeling like inferior copies of the GoT characters. But that's me. Looking at her IMDB though wouldn't rule out that we still technically see Lobo in the Superman movie first - since it lists her as in it so he could be in some sort of end/post credit scene setting up her movie. Though - I somehow missed they were even doing a Supergirl movie and now curious as to which Supergirl there giving us. I'm not familiar with that comic but I hope it's not one of the ones where she's basically a Superman clone. I actually like the version that, funny enough, is closer to Snyder's take on Superman. Who isn't a Kryptonian raised on Earth - but one who was raised on Krypton and now lives on Earth. Who actually has to try and deal with the loss of everyone she knew, her culture, etc - and doesn't entirely share Clark's views and morals - where he's always 'Lawful Good' she maybe falls somewhere between 'Neutral Good' and 'Chaotic Good' - Superman trying to be Batman and threaten violence is an easy bluff to call, she does it - she might actually mean it.
Then it's good news for u that's exactly the Supergirl they're going for. Edgy dark one who has seen her entire planet getting destroyed & her people dying. She'll be very different to superman kinda close to Snyder superman. The comic they're adapting had her like this!! & Milly is a great actress specialy for this type of role
I like Mamoa but idk about his acting chops. I'd rather he not be in the MCU or DCEU. Same with Dwayne Johnson. They're almost too recognizable. They basically play a version of themselves in every movie.
Nah...not Lobo...too much like a dark haired Aquaman. I'm betting on a Mr. Sinister (X universe)..perhaps Gambit...Nightmare...Yellow Claw.(those eyebrows!)...maybe Raz al ghul? I like Momoa in a myriad of personas. I just hope some Studio finds him a good fit. He could be a good substitute for D. Johnson...
The role he should have played from day one... Finally, ten years later....Hopefully not ten years too late.

He was born to be Lobo
4:34 People aren’t speculating, James Gunn literally said they’re basing this Supergirl movie on Women of Tomorrow
I think it's actually smart to save him for supergirl because her being relatively new lending his star power will help

Momoa as the Main Man??! Mind blown 🤩
This is dream casting
This would be perfect. I'll start to pay more attention to his IG. If we start to see him getting back into shape, I think we'll know.

BTW for Milly Alcock fans - try to watch her series Upright
Perfect casting if this is true
Do I like the idea? Silly question.
Kinda crazy James Gunn DCU contract expires In 2026
If not Momoa, Chris Hemsworth would be another solid choice, it seems like he’s literally been training for the role from Ragnarok to Furiosa
Lobo being hired by brainiac to hunt supergirl would be a great way to set up brainiac in a later movie.
Milly Alcock and Jason Mamoa on the same set?!?!? That will be a fun shoot!

It was last year that he came out of a meeting with James gunn

Alexander Skaarsgard, Liam Hemsworth, Charlie Hunnam, Alexander Ludwig are perfect 👍 for the new 🆕 Aquaman
Give it to Alexander Skaarsgard after loss out of Lex Luthor I would love Alexander Skaarsgard has Aquaman
ChëWhoooooo!!!! Is a Samoa war call JOHN he didn’t say woohhooo like a softy bro
It’s a great way to introduce the character he can be hunting Kara in the supergirl movie I hope this is true
Yes
A lobo movie would be cool
Lobo isn't in 'woman of tomorrow ' comic
Did you watch the video?
Nobody said he was.
Is supergirl the right choice???
krypton had a good lobo

Has it been that long?!
Cast someone else. There are thousands of actors out there.

He’s literally perfect as the Main Man
Well he was never good as Aquaman in the first place...
The Lobo/Supergirl dynamic in the Brave n the Bold comic from around 16 years ago was golden. George Perez, hilarious.
