Let's be on a mission. I want us to be at least 10 people, going to as many reaction videos as we can, and asking the voice coach reactors to react to a Katrina Velarde song. Yes she's underrated because many people bashing her for being heady mix they said that it's piercing to the ear, they cant accept that there are more techniques and not only the chesty mix, i am a katrinatics fan and i appreciate all kinds of placement and techniques ♥️♥️♥️
Being technical means knowing what's best for your voice. Forcing a chesty mix and compromising your vocal health is unwise in my opinion. If heady mix isn't one's preference then it's not necessarily the singer's fault for choosing such.

I get sick and tired of people who are in the chesty mix all the time. Katrina seems to use all three different types of mixes. I think that's awesome. She's interested in developing all of her registers, chest, mix, and head voice. As well as her whistle register.
@@Rosannasfriend She has showed that she can use both and that means true mastery of her voice. She doesn't rely on one technique only but rather employs ones which is suitable for the given situation.
jintanesss It’s not unhealthy for her, she’s a unique rarity like Dimash is, she isn’t stupid she knows what she can do and not do, if she couldn’t do it she wouldn’t sound that amazing in them notes.
To me Katrina and Dimash are from another planet. They are a rare breed. I’ve always said that. Love to seem them two duet! Imagine that? 😅

There's no "who's better" in the philippine singers because they are all VERY VERY VERY WELL TRAINED EVER SINCE THEY WERE BORN.. And singing is a hobby in the philippines.. they've turned the level / standard of singing to the higest level.. and we have to accept the fact that when they cover a song, it's definitely 1 million better than the original AND THE WORD "SLAY" IS THERE THERE THERE.. SNAP SNAP SNAP.. LOL

In philippines being a singer not only voice, you should have face value thats why shes under rated singer.
Katrina’s version of “Shine”, dated February 27, 2019 is pure magic.
She really is a phenomenal singer. Hmmm i dont know if it's just me but i appreciate more her lower notes upto E5, and i die everytime coz of her unbelievable agility. I dont like it that much when singers go really high that they sound unpleasant to the ears already. Nonetheless, i believe Katrina is one of the best singers this world has ever heard.
P.S. I cant believe it when you said she is underrated in her country. I mean, with that humongous talent she has, she should be going thousands of horizons.

The reason why I think people say that Katrina is under rated is because she is not a Network Based artist. Therefore, she doesn't go out as much as the other singers or even on a network base program on TV on a regular basis.

I agree with what you've said about her..she is a very talented singer. Plus we love and adore her because of her personality..so humble. Even she is underrated she just continues to do her passion and to perform to her fans! We love her..PERIOD!!

I'm from the Philippines and I'm new to your channel. I love watching your reaction and I learned a lot from you in singing even though that I am not a singer😅 But I love singers and I love watching them singing. Hope that your channel have a lot of subscriber because you deserve it😊
Ugh! Have just seen your intro ang it is soooo niiiceeee...
I've always liked Katrina and my favorite parts of her voice are her runs and agility in general. She can sing any Xtina, Beyonce, Whitney, Celine, and Mariah with demanding agility. She has agility in all her registers which is impressive. Her ability to add runs in the middle of a sustained belt and in her whistle is amazing! I also like her head voice a lot which is quite underrated.
I would say she is the best agility user among the girls in the PH. Definitely A tier. Mariah, Beyonce, and Tori Kelly are examples of S tier agility users. Katrina is A tier because her runs are prone to oversinging sometimes whereas people in the S tier have good agility and natural-ness to their runs that fit the song so nicely. She can copy complicated runs from S tier agility users but when she makes up her own, she can sometimes oversing them but that is fixable with years of experience especially with making original music. But still, A tier means she's got really great agility!
Her lows are good for a soprano. Sopranos who go down there tends to use more air so it's fine. Sopranos who have really good low notes are Mariah and Tori.
In terms of belting, her midbelts are awesome imo from A4 to maybe D5. I like her until F#5 but when she steps at this upper belting range, her voice tends to become shriller and thinner almost as if there's a change in her voice as if another voice is singing. There's a huge difference in sound from her C5 and her G5 for example, but it's still amazing being able to get up there! SoHyang obviously is an example of someone who has almost perfect belting. Her column of sound is consistent from C5 to B5. She sounds the same throughout her belting range which is awesome!
As I said, her head voice is underrated. I personally find it impressive especially when she sings head voice passages from Whitney songs (I will always love you, saving all my love for you, her WH medley) and Beyonce songs (Emotion, Brokenhearted girl, Halo). Queens of Head Voice are SoHyang, Whitney, Beyonce.
Whistles are something that I generally don't care about unless it's from Queen MC herself. But Katrina's whistle are okay.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I like Katrina and I like music in general. My favorite parts of her voice are her agility, mid belts, and head voice. Again, I'm not trying to compare her to these artists. I'm just stating what I think about the different parts of her voice and listing other artists that I like as well. So essentially, this post is about my favorites!
