Bro... what i did a few yrs ago was walk off the boat. Then walk to the straw market take a ferry it lets you of at Atlantis walk thru the casino 1st main entrance make a left going towards the riu hotel theres a opening then pow your on the beach... they serve drinks for 20$ you get i one bottle of rum and a unlimited juice n ice... then when your done go back the same way you came in.. 🤣 back to the little ferry to the straw market back to the boat... Ive been to the Bahamas 3 times

so here's another question. If you purchase a Excursion before the cruise and the ship decides not to go to a certain Island for whatever reason, will you get reimbursed for your Excursion or is that only covered with travel insurance ?

When i was there we went into town and then taxied over to Atlantis and had a blast! The taxi took us right to the beach. We of course found out by accident. We actually scratched the beach off the list when we heard the cost, but then ended up enjoying it due to the taxi driver.
Hey Mr and Mrs. Traveler, my wife and I have a question? We are also going to Nassau next month on the Disney Cruise. What all was included with the $97 a person? Was there food and drinks included in the package?
Pierre Labriel No food. You have access to a very small portion of the resort, no pools. They do have packages with access to the pools, but they are very expensive.
I'll stick to Junkanoo Beach. Its free & within walking distance of the pier.
actionbraxton Junkanoo is nice, but the one on Paradise is better in my opinion.
You guys can't be so gullible to think ALL thr beaches in the Bahamas aren't FREE
so what's your favorite way to travel depending upon where you go do you like flying , train travel from 1 state to another not around your neighborhood or cruise ships which way do you like to travel the best?

I've been to Bahamas a few times. Once I went to Atlantis for a tour of the resort. Just wandered around, couldn't get inside to the water slides or anything. Next visit, I went to Blue Lagoon Island for dolphin swimming and then spent the rest of the day on their beach and it was lovely! Almost missed the ship that day... Yes I was "that late person"..... Last time, I went off road Segway riding. That was a blast! I very rarely use the ship's excursions any more.

Mr Traveler, I really want to thank you and your woman for what someone most appropriately termed as an "expose'". I was in Nassau two years ago and did my homework well in advance and stayed in an airbnb, which provided a rental car as well for a smaller fee than most rental agencies. I did the "local" thing instead of the tourist thing. I am thinking of taking my teen sons there next year (so that they can write it off of their "bucket lists" but, admittedly, was thinking about taking them over to Atlantis. NOT). BUT, it's always vlogs like this that keep educating us about the pitfalls of travel.

Wow that's crazy! Me and my family walked to the same pathway that you two walked on the Atlantis property to get to the public beach. A taxi driver even guided us to the private Atlantis beaches and told us we could access them and the Aquarium after a certain time. But, we had to cut the Atlantis travel short because my cousin had gotten ill. My coworker even said him and his family got a free tour of the Atlantis (the inside and rooms, dining, etc) and no one questioned them lol. I really hope you guys got your money back!

This is a great tip! We read some reviews and I thought the price was too steep and just did the $16 version.
We did the beach break too and it was the exact same thing! Vendors hitting you up every five minutes. The beach was gorgeous but the surf was rough. We’re doing Blue Lagoon this time.
The $100 you pay is for the bracelet which gives you access to the water park and aquarium and pools. The section of beach of beach they allow you into is public. The private beach part is towards the back for the reef and cove guest & staff knows where your staying based on the color towels you have. I’ve seen people wonder in and get kicked right out for trying to get fast.
NYCL1 It gives you access to a portion of the aquarium. You are not allowed into the pools, that access is about $60 more per person. But the main point is they were advertising the beach as “private” when in fact it’s the public beach.
Going with a group in Sept this was so helpful with the planning part as all your vids are thanks

I'm going to Nassau in December and we are doing the over night thing the shore excursions don't seem that fun I want to go to Atlantis and hang out then the beach and if I can find some atv or someone offers jet skiing I'm down are there people doing this on the side or do I have to book with the cruise

Great video, very informative. I been to Atlantis before and I knew of those public beaches but at that price point, i thought cruise lines would give u a perk. I guess i was wrong.
sometimes its cheaper to rent a room at Atlantis for 1 day and you can use all the facilities depending on how many people you have usually its only 5 bucks taxi ride for your 2 people i dont know if they charge more for more people I have been there many times

It used to be but they caught on and they raised the one day rates to 500+ for the room and you can only get two wristbands
i'm wondering how to cruise ship could justify charging $200 for an excursion vs $16. especially when there are no extra perks, and there's a longer walk. if anything they should be paying you. smh

Tourist traps, just like Playa del Carmen Mexico, don't book your daytrip at the resort/travel agency, do some research before and save BIG bucks.

Book your excursions directly with the company doing it. You will save a lot of money.
David, the only problem with that is if you book directly and don't make it back on time, the ship probably won't wait for you. For Example we are sailing in September. We booked a few excursions though Carnival. That way if a vehicle breaks down or some reason you can't get back, you are covered. Carnival will wait. In this case it wasn't a whole lot more for peace of mind. We have sailed many times and have seen on occasion a group not making it back. I guess the cruise line has the upper hand charging a little more, but worth it to me, especially for those excursions that are quite away from port.
Are you stuck on the beach or can you relax/enjoy the resort pools, casino, bars, shops with this excursion? Is it at your own leisure....
Jason R They have a separate excursion for the pools which is a lot more money. You do get some limited access to the property, but that's not what I was paying for. I wanted access to the private beach.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're on a cruise ship and you take a day excursion that price includes getting you to Atlantis and back to your ship. I mean do you really think they'll charge you $16 to get you from your ship to the beach?
MrEasternElectric Yes it includes transportation both ways. They do allow you to "explore " a small part of the Atlantis which does not include pools only areas to buy food & see some of their aquariums. They advertise the trip as a private beach which it is not, it's the public beach. So you can go with them for $100 pp or go yourself for $16pp to the exact same beach.
So you paid $97 for transportation to and from your ship, got to go to Atlantis and see the aquariums and also use the beach. $97.
And it's a ripoff because the beach isn't private?
For $97 that sounds more than reasonable for your cruise line. Sorry to be contrary but the video just struck me as somewhat petty.
That you where that upset that you would make a video I just think people need to lighten up a bit. I may have mentioned it to the cruise line, may have but $97 today is not what it was when we were kids.

Do you need a Visa to take a cruise or just a passport?
shawna barton US citizens only need a valid birth certificate & id. However a passport is strongly recommend.
Traveling to the Bahamas on a separate trip and staying at the Atlantis was such a great experience! It’s so much better when you can use the beaches and water park parks when the cruise ships leave. The excursion is such a rip off!

Thanks for the video! This is the kind of thing that me and my wife are leery about going on our first cruise. We are kind on nervous about just venturing out on our own in new places but don't want to get scammed with the excursions either. We are going to Cozumel and Progresso and just want to hang out at the beach and enjoy food and drinks. Any tips?
Dereck Armstrong never been to Progresso, Cozumel passion island is nice but you'll need to do an excursion to get there.
Dereck Armstrong I highly recommend Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel if you want a great day at the beach. We've been twice and that'll always be my go to beach day in Cozumel. All you can eat and drink for $55. I wasn't expecting much from the food but it was great!

Tina Fox the cab & the water taxi are both $4 per person each way. Both options are available right outside the port area.
Mr Traveler Thank you for posting this video. So, we just tell the water taxi driver or cab driver to take us to Atlantis PUBLIC Beach? The public beach is free? I was just about to pay for the day pass on the Atlantis website.

Was your ticket really only to go to Atlantis beach? My family did an Atlantis excursion from a Disney Cruise a few years ago and we had full access to the beach, the pool, the water park, etc.

Did the same cheap cab ride also! But went to check out the casino. Only to find the your could just walk into the aquarium for free! After dinner back on ship we wanted to return to the casino, but it was looking a little sketchy with all the police lights racing around the tourist area after sun down.

That's terrible, did the advertisement include any other details? I hope you were able to get your money back. We paid before to go to the actual Atlantis for a day a few years back but we were on the actual property in the water park area and was also able to go to the aquarium. yeah we're going to the Bahamas on our cruise on the Allure and I wanted to go to the dolphin swimming part of it at the Atlantis. Have you ever done that before ,is that a rip off or is it worth it?

It's not just this excursion. The "Pirate Museum and Fort" tour is $145 per person. But the admission to the museum is $13.50 and the fort is only $5. So for $18.50 plus the cost of a cab you can see what the excursion wants to charge $145 for. Outrageous!

I believe the private beach you are referring to is Cove beach, which requires a res at Cove Towers. (Royal, coral, beach tower guests can only use the beach you are standing on)

Yeah I'd be ticked off too. I went to that "state park" beach adjacent to their property and at the time I think I paid $5 for a cab each way. There's an Atlantis tower right next to beach but not part of the central towers.

I figured out a long time ago that whenever you go on a cruise, you should either book your shore excursions on the internet before you leave home OR just walk off the ship and book something with the local guys when you get there. It helps to have a pretty good idea of what you want to do before you get there, but you can usually find a local guide just off the pier without paying the extra premium of booking through the ship. I have never been disappointed doing this and I have always saved money using the local tour guides. More often than not, the money saved was considerable. On a cruise ship they treat you like a captive audience and take advantage of your wallet at every turn. Shame on you if you let them do it.

Deidre Smith that's what i was going to say. I loved Balmoral island. It was private and beautiful and the drinks were cheap and tasty and the music was on point.
This is why I stopped doing cruises. Excursions are a ripoff and just herd you like cattle. If I wanted to wait in lines, I'd stay back in the city. Only good thing about that beach is if you're a Bond fan...the seawall from Thunderball is in the background. Hope you got your money back.

The other beach is the private beach for the Reef and Cove guests.
I can see how Atlantis would not allow cruise ship day guests to visit that private beach; Reef and Cove makes Atlantis lotsa money.
Although, if Reef and Cove guests want to jet ski they would have to go to this other public beach - jet skis are not allowed at the private beach.
I've been at the resort and the beach you went to after the tour is an Atlantis beach and not a public beach. There are private vendors at the spot where you were to rent wave runners, parasailing and get your hair braided if you want. You can walk down the beach; there's several spots to hang out and relax. Persons do not harass or panhandling you there. The public beach is near the RIU hotel and persons CANNOT freely walk over. Just so you know that there are Security guards that's ALWAYS there guiding that entry point. So $97 was a roundtrip transportation, a guided tour and access to the Atlantis beach?
Went on Anthem of the Seas in April, took a $4 per person taxi ride over to Atlantis (10mins), bought beach day pass for $70 per person at Atlantis ticket office, was given map showing all of the beaches and told what ones they recommended. Best day ever.And the beach day pas allows you to visit all the aquariums inside the resort. Should of done your homework man.
I just came back from Nassau did the Atlantis beach excursion we didn't get our money back. I was also told it was a private beach but carnival said they never promised a private beach. I am still mad that I payed 200 for somthing I could ave done for 20
