  • How To Grout & Clean A Porcelain Patio Without Staining It
In this video, we describe how Johnyboy grouts and cleans a porcelain patio.
Grouting is tricky and you do have to know what you are doing and when to do it, otherwise, all your hard work could be quickly ruined. You have to be very organized and work precisely and quickly.
There are so many grouts on market, you have to know which ones to use, for your paving, for example, cementitious grout, brush-in grouts, two-part grouts, and slurry grouts to name a few!
Always follow the manufacturing guidelines or ask a professional for advice.
We include some #top #tips we use when #cleaning and how to avoid the dreaded #haze, #residue which can be left behind if you don't remove and wash down properly.
Timing when to remove the grout and the amount of water you use are so important, every patio is different and depends on the weather.
When taking off your grout you need to remove it with a clean "damp" (not wet) sponge in single diagonal swipes being careful, not to upset the grout in the joints.
Again, always follow the manufacturing guidelines or ask a professional for advice.
You need to use a minimum amount of water at the right time and not use too much water after grouting.
    #JB 's #toptips
Before Grouting. - Make sure your joints are free from any debris, including leaves & small stones
It is imperative all your joints are completely dry
Check the weather, THIS IS KEY to your #grout #success or #failure, if it's too
hot your grout will "cook" before you have time to remove it!
Ideally, you need a dry day and not too hot, remember the weather is key.
We really hope you enjoy our video and that it helps in some way.

Hi Johnnie, I have the same problem with the washboy rollers not extracting enough water from the wash trowel. What I now use is a piece of aquadrain and I just press the sponge downwards and for me it squeezes the sponge wonderfully.

Fugabella is a quality grout. Like the look of the bal company.

Hi mate, great video. I’m just about to grout mine and I want to use this system. The slurry grout scared the hell out of me.
I can’t seem to find the exact name in your description
Is it the bal terrace grout?
    Cheers

Hi Johnny Great work. what's easier to clean off the easy grout or the bay grout. SORRY To go on how long do you leave easy grout to set before cleaning ? And how long for the Bal.?

I prefer to pipe grout in with a mortar gun. I over fill the joints, wait till it firms up, then slice off the excess with a sharp trowel. I then sweep off the excess and finish the joints with a damp sponge. Much less sponging to do.

Well done, nice job. Why not put a handle on that sponge thing and spare your knees. Imagine asking somebody to brush a footpath for you and the guy gets on his knees and begins brushing with the broom part minus the handle. Would you let him spend all morning doing what should be done in 10 minutes ??..One man thinking is worth 10 men working.....

Hi Martin I have got washboys and a Raimondi pedals system but with a sponge I am just in a bit more control but you do make sense
