Mauvier is essentially a return to the old roots of the archetype- a noble soldier who takes the term "my country, right or wrong" too literally, only to join the heroes after learning the consequences of valuing blind loyalty over doing the right thing. Hell, they were already returning the archetype to form with Seteth, who remains loyal to Rhea in Crimson Flower, but for far more understandable reasons than Xander, Selena or Bryce.

Still wish he had one with Hortensia. Although I have to say, for a game with no paired endings, Mauvier's 'I want to be accepted by you and you alone' with Ivy made me raise my eyebrows.
