Heihachi's the protagonist of Tekken now because they gave him the complete Mishima-ryu Karate set which also includes the esoteric techniques necessary to defeat demons. In the future, I'm pretty sure he'll use Reina to stomp out the Devil gene and its clan meanwhile he will defeat both Jin and Kazuya to restore the Mishima Zaibatsu.

The writers probably realized that outside of his fight against Bryan Fury in Chapter 5 of the Main Story, Yoshi has no story presence at all, despite the opening movie of TK8 implying he would have a role in the final war of the story.
