After the Klonoa remake was clearly following the trend and exposure from Vtubers and their followers, Korone playing Klonoa, Hebereke, ActRaiser and other such games that have since been remade...
I really wish they would remake and rewrite Fragile Dreams, in such a way it's actually Klonoa 3, with him traveling into that dream. It would be perfect and logical fit for the FFVII Remake treatment.
Either way Fragile Dreams would be great for anyone to play, as sort of a thematic sequel to Another Code.

The DS version of Two Memories had hidden DAS cards in place of the origami cranes, some unlocking more or less the same messages the cranes do.
I won't go into spoilers either, but there is more closure in Recollection than there was in Another Code R on Wii. Matthew's storyline wasn't finished because they intended to make a spinoff about him where he's still trying to find what he's looking for.

    • @MagillanicaLouM
      @MagillanicaLouM 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Oh so that's why that felt odd in the og. The differences between R and Lost Memories here are all super interesting, especially the final portions. I think both handle some things better than the other, though Matthew's plot and the actual ending to the game was way better in Recollection imo. I'm glad the team got this new chance to give him closure

    • @darrenmacqueen9884

I only got to play Trace Memory back in the day because I'm in North America. Was excited to finally play Another Code R here but even not knowing anything about the original, I felt Matthew's story didn't resolve that well. But I guess it has more closure than the original. Spoilers ahead....
But I found it weird that you don't even get to see Matthew's Dad. You're just told he's in the hospital, Matthew leaves, and that's is. That plot is done. I'd like to have actually got to see him other than in the credits. Maybe when Ashley was going around saying good bye to everyone, Matthew and his Dad could have been there to see you off or something. Just give us something. lol

This Is probably the first and so far only Nintendo remake for the Switch that isn't just a recreation of the original with better graphics and qol improvements, which Is really surprising considering it's such a niche series. I was also surprised the Wii game Is also a remake, I kinda assumed the DS game was a remake and the Wii game was gonna be a remaster, but nope.

You actually played it!!! I loved the DS game of Another Code, and the fact that we even got these games to begin with is still mind-blowing. These already became my favorite switch games, and they really put alot of love and care into Ashleys Character, the environments, and the stories. Whats even more cool is after you play through both games, you unlock the Original outfit Ashley wore in the original DS game, but its only for Two Memories, but its still a really nice touch. There were a couple references in the games where there is a possibility we could get remade versions of hotel Dusk and Last Window which are phenomenal games, and honestly better games made. But im so so happy you enjoyed this game!

Ashley's my new favorite Nintendo protagonist period tbh. Another Code: Recollection might as well be a brand new game, the visual style is absolutely beautiful from start to finish, and they did an amazing job at both character design and most importantly Ashley looks absolutely fantastic in this new game!
The puzzles were a lot of fun as well, though the quick time event puzzles for the second game I was not a fan off, the ones where you have to go around and think were when the puzzles were at their peak, which basically was all the puzzles except the opening the door quick time event puzzles. I loved it every time they used motion controls for the puzzles!

I was thrilled to see this announced. Trace Memory was the first game I got for the blue original model DS, alongside Super Mario 64 DS. Something about that original release really captured my imagination of just what the DS was capable of and what it brought it gaming. I was raised on MS DOS point’n’click games as a kid so this felt like an evolution to that in many ways.
Knowing this exist is such a joy and I do hope to own it someday. Sadly, I hardly play my Switch at all and even more rarely buy anything for it. Hoping to borrow a copy from my local library. 🤞🏻

I played the Trace Memory DS version back in October. Liked it, didn't love it. Felt very much in that "Show off what you can do with the DS system" types of games - touch screen, blow into the mic, solve a puzzle by closing the DS etc. Though I did want to play Recollection and had it pre-ordered (wish the North American version included that cool bookmark that was packed in with the European release though). I beat part 1 in a weekend and part 2 in another weekend. I enjoyed my time with it though I do agree the puzzles were kind of easy. I did have the compass on the entire time since I was more going for the story and didn't want to get stuck wandering around, but I didn't want to use the Hint System "Here's the answer" feature - only ended up using that one time at the end of Part 1. I also agree that even if this is all we're going to get of Ashley's story, then I'd be satisfied with how it ended. And yeah, I'm also happy someone at Nintendo cared enough about this niche series to give it a remake with a lot of care put in to it. Plus they even threw in a reference to Hotel Dusk which made me very happy.

(small spoiler for those familiar with the first ds game)
To add about the first game, there are some altercations concerning when and where characters appear, specifically at the end of chapter 2. The character that appears there is also a bit more prominent during that story. I feel like that helps with the overall pacing of that game (though I don't think it makes the original that much worse in comparison).

This game, in the same vein as the Famicom Detective Club and Advance Wars remakes, are the reason why Nintendo stands out from the others. Smaller scaled games, from a different era that harkens back to their history, alongside huge heavy hitters like Mario, Zelda, Splatoon… in one word: variety. That’s the key here.
When you see PlayStation only banking on huge AAA 3rd person adventures, people can burn out quicker. Nintendo does care for the longer run.

The Origami crane collectibles are pretty directly comparable to the DS card collectibles in the original, except a good deal more user-friendly. Since the game tells you what room the cranes are in, it's pretty reasonable to add in the challenge of finding them in a 3d environment with the camera. Meanwhile, the cards could have been hidden in any investigateable spot, which don't look any different from normal flavor text spots or just parts of the background environment.
And don't get me STARTED about the requirements for the DS version's true ending.

Oh god I just had flashbacks to being the reason why my school implemented a printing fee because I printed the GameFAQs walk through out so I could get the true ending. That shit was diabolical.

I'd love to pick up both this and bayonetta origins (especially origins cuz the JPN is very gentle from what I saw and makes for perfect practice even when I need to wind down), ik another code also has an easier script but I vibe more with the en dub surprisingly so that would just be an anglo-playthrough ^^'' (unless you can change text/audio separately)

I've actually just discovered this frachise through recollection and i actually went back and played the older games and i gotta admit.. the old ones had the cooler puzzles. Like there was one where you Physically had to fold your DS in half as the solution.. i like how the recollection is all in all more covesive and the two games feel more like one complete story, with there being build up to stuff from the second game, etc. The original ones are still super fun tho!

Just finished this game. As much as I enjoyed the playthrough and especially the new presentation, I must say they really fumbled the puzzles in part 2. Which is understandable since it had some of the most creative use of the Wiimote on that system (the part where you must enter the Home menu to decipher a code is a classic.) So it was kind of an impossible task. But the replacements just feel so dumbed down. Still an enjoyable playthrough but not enough for me to replay it to get the one paper crane I missed in the house you only have access to once.
Crossing my fingers for a Hotel Dusk remake in the same style.

I don't know why you said they changed everything but the story when that's what was altered the most! Some details were fleshed out and others were (sadly) trimmed down, or left out entirely. Recollection is a complete reimagining of the plot of both games to the point where it's still 100% worth playing through the originals in 2024.
Also, the originals are obviously much older, so it seems unfair that you compare the presentation of them to the new one in such an unflattering light, given their technical limitations. I think Recollection is more widely appealing with it's use of the popular over-the-shoulder viewpoint and full camera movement. However, the originals are delivered in a much more unique and artistic manner that you simply won't see in any other game. That uniqueness was one of Cing's greatest strengths as a developer.

So my wife was getting flooded with ads for this on TH-cam. Enough that she didn't care for it. Your video has made her want to buy it. You are a better ad campaign than the actual ad campaign.

Usually I would say include the original when it comes to remakes. This is the exception because the originals were heavily reliant on the technology of the hardware. I mean I heard the sequel used the wii home screen menu to solve a puzzle

The Original for the DS was my all time favorite games for many, many years. For me personally story is the most important part of the game and the story won me over. The direct this game was showed in people were freaking out over the Paper Mario game (which is also a good game). I was freaking out when they announced this. Not only the first but the second. I am in the US, we never got it here and that always pissed me off. So to finally play it made me really happy. The year just started but honestly I think this game is my game of the year. Although first game wise there were to parts of the game a I was a little disappointed in. The first was that they got rid of my fave puzzle, but it's understandable. In order to do it in the first version, you have to open and close the DS, can't really do that with the switch. So I understand. From my memory there's a scene you can unlock with your dad if you offer him chocolate when you finally meet him. I always thought that was so sweet. There was also a couple of rewrites but it didn't ruin the story for me. Over all This game has made it back to being my all time favorite game.

My story/introduction to this game. I had both the ds and Wii but I've never heard about this game until now and never heard about Cing. The animation caught my attention first then i saw the trailer and played the demo and I was hooked, I love puzzle games and I'm a sucker for games with voice acting. After I finished the game I did research on the originals and had no idea about the big changes in the games storywise especially in AJILM, but i guess that makes sense in my defense since I had no knowledge about it in the first place 😅 but i was also surprised how much I enjoyed it despite all the tragedy that was involved and though I never played the original, knowing what I know now I like this remade version better.

Played both games back then, I'm super interested in how they managed to transform the DS game into full 3D. If that works successfully, maybe there is a chance we can get a remake of both Ace Attorney Investigations games. That would be the dream.

I definitely care. I bought the game Day One, and I enjoyed playing both games. I would hope that the sales might get Nintendo to revive this underrated franchise and/or get other related games remakes as well. This game was promoted during a Nintendo Direct, so I can only hope that it got other people interested like myself.
