It only works with long cars. Basically front flip like normal but cancel the flip as soon as you hit the flip button, and i mean ASAP. You need to be very quick. It’s easy to do if you’re just going for it over and over again in free play but difficult to achieve in game.

Makes me happy to see JZR jokingly bring attention to all these little bits of lag.
People meme about Epic takeover servers being garbage, but I specifically feel like December 2022 or so, the servers have had a significant downgrade. Every. Single. Touch that occurs that isn't just me alone with the ball, has some lag to it. It's very noticeable with demos as you have to aim a whole car body ahead to get a demo, otherwise actually hitting their car body will only register the bump for you, and not them.
Sometimes it's so bad I feel like I'm playing Rocket League but with invisible enemies. Which it might as well be with how far into the future we have to predict moves now. Even the replays will reassure you that the server, indeed, has no idea what happened, when it used to show exactly what happened, regardless of how it appeared for you client side.
