People do NOT understand at all how much work goes into a piece thats handmade ,I love doing metal work also but man its hard to get the price you want for your stuff ,I make steel fire pits also and also plasma cut the sides by hand with deer bear bear prints whatever, and it takes time to cut all this stuff out and weld it together and paint and still people want it for nothing lol, pits I make are not some home cheapo 14 gauge thin steel mine are like 1/4" steel that will last 20 years .Well enough of my rant thats a beautiful piece you made there and you should be getting 300 t0 500 for it ,but again try and get it lol but there are people that know and appreaciate the effort that goes into a nice piece like that. But I will keep making stuff because I love doing it,great video
There's no heart put into things that are cheap and mass produced . Someone's heart , mind ,and soul is poured into art work like this . So there's a different feeling and also adds conversation when you show people what a person is capable of . Inspiring is what I'm getting at I guess .
That really means the world to me and I greatly appreciate it thank you so much. I really find it uplifting with not only comments like yours but going to shows and hearing the responses from people. There's been a ton of pictures sent to my site from younger generations and even older of folks either attempting to recreate what I've done or showing off their work that was inspired by things that they had seen from my channel and that's what it's all about.

I get not having much money, I have a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and on my first day I was sitting in the bathroom stall and as I reached for the roll of toilet paper, on the wall it said San Francisco Art Institute Diploma's Please Take One. There are so many talented people in this world and your one of them. I'm trying to wrap my head around what kind of a mind would complain about $200 for a masterpiece, made by hand in such a difficult medium. Not only is it your time and effort in the process, the thought of the design, but you got to consider the shop and tools, the material and the expenses associated with maintaining a functioning metal shop. Just to turn on the lights is $200 I'm sitting here with my buddy howling and cracking up as we imagine some cheapskate old geezer and his wife walking in, thinking your show was a new tackle & hunting shop looking at your skull and and saying, "What In Tarnation's!!! Myrtle, my eye glasses are need cleaning, how much is that going fer??? Eu Wee!!! That's what I thought~That's a down right thievery!!! Come on Myrtle grab a handfuls a them cracker's and a chunk a that fancy cheese...$200 dollars!!! They're smoking more than tobacco round here!!! Wow!!! Unimaginable If you take American Express count me in. I'll look at your site to get your info. Really, you better have an ambulance at your next show and some Windex on hand because anything under $2,000 is really low balling what I have just seen. You left an impression and inspired me and my buddy just to watch you work. Your heart is great for sharing your knowledge and you have reached out to two new fans and I know your work will exponentially get the amount it really deserves. You might try dropping one off at a local archery shop. As an archer and archery enthusiast, one of these would be a cool addition to the wall and would pay what you are asking.

Im gonna collect the last part for my propane forge and maybe, mayyybe begin to build it this weekend. The i can leave my coalforge and everything about that. Then its just rest of the shop to do 😂 Now im going to subscribe!
You did a wonderful job my friend! For $200 or so, that sounds like a very reasonable price to me. BTW, I like your table top drill press (15:40), I have one just like it, works great.
I forgot to mention in the previous post that the horse and rider were from cut nails, which if sharpened can be used as a prick punch. So needless to say any bending required heating to red hot before shaping. For the cowboy hat I used pal nuts which are spring steel, and to roll the brim that also requires heating to red hot, and is quite hard to hold. Lots of burns.
To be honest I expected the price to be higher haha, people just enjoy being snobby and want the special treatment when it comes to the art buying experience, you’re prices are more than fair my friend.
I'm with ya man. I can't tell you how many ladies come by the stand and look at stuff and drag their husband over and he says, "I can get you one at WalMart for ten bucks! My personal favorite is the "BeBacks." They pick up your stuff, look it over and then say, "We'll be back!" Needless to say, you never see them again.

Not on the actual hood, i Want to mount it to my front grill there is a place for a light bar the I can attach it to. my name is Dan and live in NJ, not sure how we go about this but your work is awesome.
You very well could, in this particular case with filming etc I opted for the trusty grinder to shape the tines. Drawing out would allow for a more natural look overall, albeit allot more work. I suppose this way keeps the asthetic of using rebar more industrial looking. Thank you for the question.

I have some real antlers that I'm gona fit to a metal skull I've made, I noticed you're missing the thin bone that half twists to back of eye socket from back of skull , think that's where ears drums located.
Would love to see yours when finished I've thought about adding some real sheds but never have, and yes, they aren't exactly 1 to 1. I've made some with the insides, the ear bones and even the bottom mandable but for video length and ease to follow this ones fairly simple. Thanks for watching.
For this I've had really good results with the majestic forge artist deluxe 2 burner. Originally I used my home built Venturi forge but it had approximately the same opening as my current majestic which equals out to about 4 and 3/4 in tall.I just recently uploaded a new video demonstrating a deer antler with half inch round stock where I actually utilize the forge to apply heat for final shaping of the antler. The skull itself minus the antlers fits very nicely inside of the majestic forge and for me it works great because it keeps the heat isolated onto the points that I want to work the most I suppose a person could do the same with coal but whereas you're using sheet metal you would have to really monitor your heat as to not burn the material away

Years ago, I made a horse and rider with a windmill. The windmill featured a rotating head, rotating blades, and a sucker rod which moved up and down from the blade rotation. Thehorse was positioned to be drinking from the stock tank. Truthfully I made it as a present for my inlaws, but when my neighbor saw it he wanted to buy it, andI told him I wouldn't sell it for less than $200.00. He acted insulted, but I told him I would only be getting around $4.00/hour at that price and all of the burns were for free.
I use to hunt deer avidly but for health reasons I stopped! I'm now tinkering with blacksmithing and this deer skull is the sh*t!! Do you sell the templates for this. You got a sub and a like from me!! This is the kind of thing ok would love to get into! Keep on ⚒️ ing my friend!!
I honestly never thought of selling the templates, i just drew it out based off a skull i had laying around, kind of started from the top and worked out and down. If i did sell templates they wouldn't be much. Might be something i do in the future, thank you so much for the compliments really means allot.

if you drifted holes where the antlers attach you could have a smooth transition from skull to antler and weld from underneath. looks awesome 👌

I use a gas mig Lincoln pro 180. Run gas at about 12-14 psi with a slightly fast wire speed. Thank you for the comment.

Excellent video. I'm a retired pipeline welder and beginning the metal sculptures. What guage metal on deer skull? 10 ga? Look forward to more videos

Labor cost it takes time to make art
It would be a lot easier if you grinded the ends to a point before you attached them. It would save a lot of time, that's what I do.
