- The S-Type Zaku II has an antenna on the head for enhanced communication capabilities and to visually distinguish squad-leaders or higher ranking pilots from other squad-members or lower ranking pilots. Commanders are also allowed to paint their machine in personal colors.
It also features a higher output powerplant that gave the S-Type Zaku II greater thrust and acceleration. This allows it to move at speeds three times faster than a standard Zaku II. However, since no changes were made to the fuel tanks, the S-Type's operating time is shortened as a result. Despite this limitation, the S-Type proved to be incredibly dangerous in the hands of the ace pilots it was assigned to, such as the "Red Comet" Char Aznable, who sank 5 Magellan-Class Battleships in the Battle of Loum.
Beautiful animation even if it is mostly 3d. Successfully conveys the kinetic feeling.
As a kid, I always thought it was dumb that everyone, especially ships, missed all the time. If I'd seen this as a kid, maybe I would've understood.
In my opinion the 3d actually works for gundam
I really want to see if they go a full on revamped original Mobile Suit Gundam series with this permise... It would be quite interesting and different from the original along with Origin.

Yeah. A Gundam 0079 Remake is long overdue.
Well with the success of the Cucuruz Doan's island movie in Japan and possibly overseas, Bandai will probably consider a 0079 remake in the style of Origins possibly in the 50th anniversary

Not gonna lie Char is really good pilot. Amuro could survived in his first encounter with Char just because of fate and luck.

@@Nobodysurvivesevenonebit tbh as Newtypes go char is probably one of the weakest.
I mean Amuro is so op because despite being a pilot of equivalent skill to char by A Baoa Qu, his newtype abilities are stronger.
He can sense hostility of enemies before they even pull the trigger on their weapons.
He's essentially a precog in a way that actually makes sense, it's ridiculous.

Luck AND gundarium armor. If RX 78-2 wasn't made from it, Char would easily turn it into a bee hive scrap metal
One thing that I like about the Zaku, is that unlike the Gundam, it doesn't have to rely on a power source that's connected to both the machine and the weapon. Once the weapon is out of energy, so is the machine. But with the Zaku, while using a weaker weapon, it can use up its ammo as much as possible without worrying about burning fuel at the same time. The Zaku is always my preferred machine.
Except you know, running of power was never a problem with a minovsky reactor. And as Char and his Zaku II demonstrate, his superior piloting skill didn't actually help his bullets penetrate the Gundam armor. While a lucky shot was all the Gundam needed to blow Char to kingdom come.

How does the Gundam not completely lose its bearing under so many impacts?
How do even its optics not get shattered, or at least thrown out of alignment, after taking multiple hits to the head?

Because they're built to withstand these impacts. If you're going to watch something like this you're going to have to leave a bit of reality at the door.
Luna Titanium is pretty much able to tank a lot of Machine Gun fire and not be effected by it. That's why Bazookas, Rail Cannons and Beam Rifles are better to use than your standard Zaku Machine Gun. Those actually hurt Gundam.
@@MultiBigJC thing is, even with a super strong fictional material like "Lunar Titanium" or "Gundanium Alloy," the Gundam only has so much mass. It would be getting knocked around to the point of being unusable. At very least the thrusters should be making adjustment bursts like they've gone haywire. Then as I mentioned with optics, or consider with thruster exhausts, radiators, or other delicate parts, not everything is going to be made of the fictional super material. The craft is so saturated by enemy fire that the weak link in its system should have broken.
@@MrCantStopTheRobot Again that's the whole point of Luna Titanium and Gundarium. Ballistics like Machine Guns are rendered ineffective unless they score direct hits on something like the area above the Thruster Nozzles which can knock them out entirely. Every other spot of Gundams is covered in the armor in order to avoid damage to those main areas. That's why adjustments to those areas are unnecessary because everything else is protected. Not to mention the suit itself is installed with a learning computer so it reads combat and can help the pilot adapt to the situation. Gundams aren't as delicate of machine's as Zeon Zakus are. Zeon mechanics have to worry about the problems you're mentioning during the One Year War.
