- Another super strong ship, the Lanius A gives us a super clean run! I'm continuing to love and appreciate the strength of hacking/cloaking/teleporter system setup to guarantee killing off all (but 1) crew on phase 1 of the boss. Cloaking for the overcharge of each phase has always been huge, but the guaranteed crew kills make the boss fight so much more manageable! GG cookie time! -- Watch live at / rand118

I don't see how people dont see the value of Ion bombs. Especially with preignite. A one power weapon for taking down two layers of shields (or piloting) through defense drones is REALLY useful to soften up before your alpha strike. I almost always hang onto them. I feel similarly for breech II bombs.
I actually had a similar hard mode winning setup with that same ship, I had bought wpn pre-ignator, chain laser, ion stunner and ion bomb (freebie) (thats it!). I took many options that gave a lot of missiles (two back to back). Then decided it was my end game weapon system because hacking enginees/piloting and bombing shieldes with both ions was cutting barely for every ship I encountered, buying some drones from stores was a must but because I only invested once in weapons I had scrap for my others systems which made my lanius ship A a very stalling and long term battler, BTW nice run!!!.
Nice, Sergio! Hacking piloting/engines and ion bombing shields is super strong! With ion stunner on the shields, that should mean it never gets repaired or un-ioned, not a bad setup!

I kind of wish you would experiment more than the flak and hack (heh, rhymes) setup. I know being able to bypass shields is invaluable especially late game but there are other ways it could be done (ex: hack drone and heavy laser for a potential quick crew kill) although they may be less efficient.
Also for the oxygen crew kill for the Lanius A, my strategy is to simply destroy the healing bay and when the crew come to repair it, send in the Lanius boarding party and suffocate the crew trying to repair the system with the Lanius race ability, rinse and repeat when more crew come to repair. I have seen it done where the oxygen is destroyed and the healing hacked and using the Lanius boarding to drain each room of oxygen before the crew retreat to the hacked healing bay. There is no point in trying to crew kill a ship with a cloning bay just because it is too much of a nuisance to try picking off crew.
Sorry forgot to mention this. For Lanius A, I prioritize getting teleportation after second shield.

I got to the virus event and get away with Engi with maxed out all stats to yellow- he was quarantined, died and resurected.

Thanks, Li Beidi! Chain lasers usually aren't my favorite, but stacking them can get some pretty vulcan-like suppression!

Hah, nice, that's exactly the G&S song I was thinking of, thanks Davvigtu! I love The Gondoliers, probably my favorite G&S show, right up there with The Mikado. I did this show many years ago, hearing this again makes me wish there was a good G&S company in Dallas...
