    The only useful review of this item out of dozens - because you actually demonstrated each tool’s use. Your explanations and opinions were very intelligently and simply stated. Good work.

    I have a suggestion for the use of the can opener. If you do it in a backward motion instead of forward motion it will be much easier. You won’t have to keep punching a new hole every time. By the way great job on the video and I hope your channel grows.

    I brought this little device. I keep it in my wallet. This little edc device has got me out of a lot of situations. It's worth the price to carry something like this. I don't always carry my edc backpack which has multiple items for certain situations. In using the device it's best to have a glove on the hand you use so that it's more comfortable to use. Having something is better than having nothing especially when you are in a pinch. Nice video dude.

    You do a great job of testing it. Others have commented on the proper use of the can opener, so I'll just mention that the lineyard hole can also be used to bend wire, to pull cording, hold nails etc.

  • @jasonlaquey3870
    @jasonlaquey3870 4 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    the can opener has a hook near the blade that catches on the can rim, then you lever the cutting blade into the can and with a rocking motion work around the lid
    it's not just forced into the lid.
    To use it as a compass , hang the card from a string in the lanyard hole, you don't have to float it in water.

    Extremely well done presentation and honest. No needless jibber jabber and I appreciate that. Other channels tend to go on and on and use this as a chance to show off their other EDC tools and the meat of the video gets lost in the confusion. Your focus on the Credit Card Tool was long needed. Everyone has come across one of these at some point, but few have had the chance to see if they do what they are made to do. You covered that perfectly. Thank you. You summed it up well. They don't take up much room and they do what they are supposed to. I have these planted all around in my packs and bags...Just in case. Thank you and look forward to more on your channel.

    The lanyard hole is useful. If you need to apply torque, while using 4 position wrench on this card. By using the lanyard you reduce the the risk of injury. You can use the wrenches with out physically touching the multi tool card.

    You can also tie the device with paracord to a suitable stick and create a makeshift axe which is easier to use for most crafting situations than using the knife blade itself
    You can wrap the tool with a bit of cloth, paracord or even thick leaves at a push will make the tool easier to grip if you don’t have gloves
    Remember that these tools were originally designed by BCB International (before being copied) for use in survival packages. The military would typically always have thick gloves available.
    BCB also designed the tool’s wing nut slot to thread the thinner paracord through and wrap around the opposite edge for storing a length of paracord
    This also makes it more comfortable to hold

  • @w.maximilliandejohnsonbour725
    @w.maximilliandejohnsonbour725 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Oh!. By the way. In using the compass part. You lay the card on a flat surface. Then put water in the center of the opening till it's at the top. Take a small sewing needle that you have magnetized cut it down to size and place it in the center. Now you have a make shift compass. It ain't perfect. But it works.

    I carry this at work everyday because it's the only tool that sits in the single card holder stuck to the back of my smart phone. (Something I always have to have on me) Put the end of a 10 in 1 klein (or Milwaukee) screwdriver in your pocket, and you can use the socket section to add torque, and now you have a strong batch of screwdrivers, plus knife, and other tools on you at all times with almost zero added pocket space used.

    This tool came in my survival kit with the little card telling what each aspect of the tools are for. Nice job of demonstrating HOW they are to be used and, yes, I can see this as a helpful tool if you had nothing else to do the job and it is compact enough to require little space for carrying and storage. Great video! (I subscribed).

    Thanks for sharing a thorough test of the tool. I think sometimes it's referred to as a multi-function tool, in which perhaps the lanyard hole could be qualified as a function. Also, because of the size and amount of tools in such a small piece of thin steel, one can hardly expect it to work well in most of its functions. Even in large tools, a multi-function tool normally doesn't work as well as a dedicated one.

You defined for me exactly the information I was looking for. I just can’t believe that there’s videos out there that explore such mundane little products. Anyway, wow! Great job!!!

  • @ScorpionRegent
    @ScorpionRegent หลายเดือนก่อน

    Like others have mentioned, you can use the lanyard hole to bend wire, a useful skill when crafting. Likewise the can opener requires a bit of skill. Rotate the can in the opposite direction and use a rocking motion. A good test of the wingnut wrench is breaking free a super tight wingnut and locking it down so it won't come loose. It might be handy for the valve on a oxygen cylinder. The knife edge is more of a scraper or a chisel, but like most of the tool it's better than nothing. I doubt I would ever buy one of those tools unless I was separated from all my things and needed a stop gap to get by. Thanks for the video I truly appreciate your taking the time to test a product rather than just open some packaging and read the instructions. For that you earned my subscription.

    Like others point out, your review is the most useful I've seen on TH-cam. You might also review the common keychain tools. That eleven can be expanded. Here are some other uses:
    (1) The lanyard hole can be used to bend wire.
    (2) The wing-nut tool can be used to wrap some string as fishing line around the tool. Keep it in place with tape.
    (3) The mirrored surface is small but still might work for signaling. You might test the range.
    (4) I've played around with the compass on several of these tools and I'd hate to depend on any of them in an emergency situation. The pointing is too uncertain. It makes more sense to carry an actual compass. Someone should create a compass with a sealed needle that is thin enough to fit in a wallet.

    As far as the little hole on the wrench is concerned, it is useful. Try tying dental floss to it and hang it from a branch and it will point north and south. You can use a lot of dental floss rapped around it because that can come in handy as well.

    Great video, the compass thing. So you need a piece of styrofoam to make it work? And all you did was lay it in some water and it automatically pointed north? How does this tool do this? Pretty cool.

    • @KnifeManual
      @KnifeManual  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, pretty much anything that floats works. One thing I noticed was the water had to be ABSOLUTELY still, so I’m not sure how practical it would be in a real life situation. Anyhow, it is pretty cool:)

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works by magic, like a compass does. Supernatural forces make it point north. Nothing to do with the earth's magnetic field

    • @KnifeManual
      @KnifeManual  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohh yeah, I forgot to mention you need "special abilities" to make it work properly😄

    If you tied a pc of Dental floss thru the little lanyard hole the directional tool should work without using water because it is magnetized rite? Try it out and let us know...you did a great job with the video by the way.

    I've had this gadget for years yet l just hadn't known how the compass worked.
    I filed all the blades though the steel is not good quality.

    That's just an old style can opener XD, you are using it in the wrong direction. Just switch directions and it should work just fine.

      Lol I never had the need to use it so was figuring it out on the fly:) Thanks for watching Aaron!

    • @donsmith3167

      What Aaron means is you hook it the same way but you move the cutting edge toward the hooks direction then move hook back farther and continue the cut edge again. In the Military it was called a P38 can opener and it folded up. Worked much better than this. Not sure about you but I've never found a wing nut that would fit in that butterfly slot. I think it is suppose to be used with the knife and used as a pair of scissors.. Just my thought.

    These are emergency short temporary use only, eventually you return to your home and cable tv, if you don't and stay in the wilderness, give you time to get permanent stuff.

    Referring to a survival manual some tools on this kind of card multitools are supposed to need a handle(a piece of wood, etc.) attached with a string. For example saw and blades, to enhance the ergonomics. Wonderful review, though, with detailed perspective and performance test. Cheer up!

    I find the knife part of the card responsible if you hold in a certain way.
    Pointer finger through the "bottle opener".Thumb laid across the ruler. Small piece of cloth between the saw and my remaining fingers. Cuts good.
