    Idahosa!! You've put up so much free material from your blog, to your TH-cam channel, to your free ebook when someone signs up on your site. Your product is amazing but for those of us who can't afford it, you still make it possible if we're willing to put in some extra work. Thanks for that!!

    This is just AWESOME! I have purchased your course and started on the back position and already fixed the elemental sound that I was struggling with the most 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    4:25-29 Wow! Sounds like the native speaker had a clone of him saying the same thing! Well done! I'll try that technique out for my Spanish and Japanese pronunciation!

    Could you please share your settings of your computer audio , audacity preferences and etc to the very last detail! It would be great to try, but unfortunately one tick on an audacity setting disallows somebody who didn't create this set up not be able to do this the right way : ( . core audio? built in out put ? mic (ok) , stere input channels ok.

    I just looked at PronSci "Pronunciation Science" that Boabysands123 mentions. It looks okay, but, it only deals with English, and it is a system for teachers to learn so that they can use it with their students. From a student's point of view, I don't think it is really accessible, I can't imagine how a set of cleverly colour coded charts of words would help a student to teach themselves. On the other hand, the MimicMethod deals with flow as well as accent. I've tried it, and improved immensely!

    How on earth did you get Audacity to both play AND record at the same time?!

    Idahosa, you might be interested to check out the PronSci "Pronunciation Science" site. If I'm understanding them correctly they maintain that mimicry cannot and does not enable us to produce the sounds of a target language. And that what works is direct instruction in phonetic awareness and an L2's sound and articulation setting. Some of it is convincing to me so far, even though it seems to go against my own experience.

    Actually you can use the Transparent Language APP that has the audio analysis module in it. The APP is free and comes in a plethora of languages. I use it for Mandarin. I'm a Court Stenographer, i.e., trained listener. One thing I found is that matching my audio output to that of a native speaker or, god forbid, Google Translate speaker (Quizlet is better by far but more labor intensive) is a lot easier said than done. The software captures and displays all harmonics and overtones. So even if you can get the packet size somewhat correct, the rest of the waveform will almost never match the copy material. I also use Audacity with my language exchange partners. Audacity has its uses but I think Shadowing (Linguistics Prof Arguelles coined the term) isn't one of them. Besides, most language learners I've encountered (in University) lack the computer savvy to get even a little good from Audacity. Hmmm, let's see; Can I get my friend to download it and install it for me? Should I record my voice from microphone or Stereo Mix? How to get language samples to input to it? How to record multiple tracks? Should I view the regular waveform (and how to interpret it) or use one of the Spectrum settings? Or why don't I just get the Transparent Language program? It's free and doesn't take a lot of tech savvy to use it. Also I can get it in multiple languages, all for free. And it also comes with a vocabulary module called BYKI, aka, Before You Know It. Cheers people.

    Idahosa, eu gostaria de saber o que você usa para gravar sua fala - se é um microfone normal ou de um headset, ou outra coisa do tipo - e qual você usa. Acho meio complicado escolher aparelhos desse tipo porque alguns podem não gravar bem, sem (muitos) ruídos, com boa qualidade e etc. Assim, como o seu parece funcionar perfeitamente para o propósito, agradeceria muito se pudesse compartilhar mais essa informação!
    Aproveitando a oportunidade, seu método parece perfeito para aprender ou melhorar a pronúncia de um idioma, embora não o tenha aplicado, ainda, em meu aprendizado, é algo que planejo aplicar o mais rápido possível! Obrigado por compartilhá-lo! Valeu!

      Hope this helps!

    Will This training improve the pronunciation by itself? Or just the words you practice with this piece of audio

    • @MimicMethod
      @MimicMethod  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Elver, both! You'll master the words but it also gives you the building blocks to pronounce other words that incorporate those sounds
