This song is talking about the state highway 35 that runs along the East cape of New zealand - going from my home city of Gisborne (Māori name: Tairāwhiti or Te Tai Rāwhiti) - and the greater Gisborne area, heading up around to the small coastal towns and villages along the way. They mention a Paua pie in the song - Paua is what we Māori call Abalone, so a Abalone pie is what it is if you're wondering - not a fan of Paua myself lol, so cant say if it's any good. As he mentions at the start "First place to see the sun" - Gisborne/Tairāwhiti is the first official city in the world to see the sunrise.

What’s crazy, I’ve been searching for a translated version just to know what they are singing. But the song is so damn chill and peaceful I’ve given up!! Straight Jammin!! Much respect to the people and culture.
It's a very rich culture too, rich in death, murder and superstition, trapped in brutal tribal warfare all over the country, one couldn't venture far without being set upon and killed by another tribe, then they were eaten by those who killed them, so don't be mistaken, the chill and peaceful culture you see is one nurtured by western civil ideals, cause the culture before the settlers arrived was anything but peaceful and chill, so it's nice to see they're able to develop their culture in a peaceful manner.
@@rustyneedles3743 So like all other cultures then? You write like Māori were the only ones who fraught other tribes. We did this for land and resources like any other culture. This song is talking about the state highway 35 that runs along the East cape of New zealand - going from my home city of Gisborne (Māori name: Tairāwhiti or Te Tai Rāwhiti) - and the greater Gisborne area, heading up around to the small coastal towns and villages along the way.
They mention a Paua
pie in the song - Paua is what we Māori call Abalone, so a Abalone pie is what it is if you're wondering - not a fan of Paua myself lol, so cant say if it's any good.
As he mentions at the start "First place to see the sun" - Gisborne/Tairāwhiti is the first official city in the world to see the sunrise.
A beautiful part of New Zealand
Thank you So much for explaining what 35 is about.
@@lindalowry1513 you're welcome 😊

this song is just absolutely beautiful. i’m glad i came to listen to the entire thing! My heart is light and filled with love. Thank you for contributing this uplifting energy to the world
What’s crazy, I’ve been searching for a translated version just to know what they are singing.
I love how you forgot the last 2 centuries of racism, colonialism & violence towards Māori from Europeans. My grandmothers generation were whipped for speaking their native tongue by white people. That was 2 generations ago! Peace and love my ass. Stop spreading misinformation
@@tvxyzn @Tee lol, you're adorable ... I am Maori, lol, but good to see you acknowledge we were like most other tribes and people, though you then continue to single out Europeans ! hahaha, typical ... what did Maori do to the folk on the Chatham Islands ? cause I tell you now, it was far, far worse then what the Europeans did to the Maori ! lol, but hey, you're privy to the truth ! so we should listen to you ! you're fucking lucky some like Gengis Khan didn't arrive here in NZ, cause I tell you what, no Maori would be left alive
you just couldn't help but single out the ole Europeans huh ? hehe,
Nah you ain't maori your obviously white who hide your opi ion in real life you ain't deceiving nobody seen your kind plenty of times eh Don brash
How many countries have Maori attacked vs your people your people invented torture machines your people killed man women and children what did your people do to aboriginal australians

My mother and I took a roadtrip down statehighway 35 after hearing this song - the oceans and mountains are absolutely beautiful, the water is so stunning. All the communities along the highway are so amazing, we saw a couple horses riding down the beach and lots of children enjoying the summer day. I 100% recommend for more people to try this amazing place :)
on a side note, it's sad to see many signs encouraging people to not litter down banks and we stopped by to try pick some of it up, please keep our country clean and beautiful!
Beautiful at what you said and what you did, every little bit counts a whole lot so thank you for your beautiful actions ❤
The drive along the 35 is absolutely stunning and a very rich history is carved out there. This coastline is home to our old people who still adhere to the old ways. my great grandmother 94 years old still lives out there on the coastline. too much you fullas thank you for looking after our whenua.
