These "no talking" demos are about 50x more useful than ones that spend 20 minutes explaining every single feature without giving us much of a chance to see if we even like the sound. To me, the sound and vibe are ultimately more important than the specs. This one sounds great, thanks for a very good demo. Literally been listening to it on repeat while I work, lol.
You do some amazing demos man, you really get creative with sound design, you sold me on this and the Golden pedal!!! People only stick to conventional sounds, I always want to hear the experimental side of a pedal if it has any, & you really got that across with this Starlight & Golden. Thank you dude!!!
By far...the absolute BEST review of this pedal online!! Hands down!! After watching/listening to this! I am picking one up! Thanks soooo much for posting this
That's probably the best overview demo I've seen of this delay. Just really clear, concise and appropriate playing to demonstrate each sound and feature.
Great demo Andrew. I just added the Starlight, Astra & Golden to my board last week. Lovin' it all with the MAX, Dream and Stomp. Very methodical demo here. But, aside from that... You are one very tasty player! I loved your voicings here. Beautiful. That scored you another like & a subscribe. Keep bringin' it. Cheers & regards from Stratford, Ontario, Canada. 😎✌🎸
This demo and your Golden Reverberator demo are the most useful I've seen on these two pedals. I'll be watching them multiple times and trying stuff out. And tasteful playing too!
Another superb review of operation I will be visiting both this and the Starlight for tutorial resource Just received both just gotta find the time, lol
Another great pedal walk-through, thanks Andrew! I love my UAFX pedals including the Starlight. If they had MIDI control they'd be perfect (for live performance). My hope is that they'll add that support at some point using a mini USB to MIDI cable and firmware update.
Thanks, Michael! I wish they had MIDI as well, hopefully they do that update! To have access to the sounds of their presets would be great, like the pitch shifting DMM sounds.
You can have presets with the UAFX control app, kind of annoying as you have to use your cell phone, but still better than 2 presets when it came out. Ua didn't really publicize this new feature.
I've had this pedal because it's one of the only true stereo pedals I know of (two separate emulations in each channel, the stereo image is WILD). But the major thing that bugs me about this pedal is that when you change the delay time on the Deluxe Memory Man, it adds weird digital artifacts. My guess is the time control is not truly continuous which is why it sounds like the pitch is quantized while you move the knob. Also, the delay time isn't short like the real Cooper Time Cube! It was supposed to be used as an ADT type of echo, since the delay was so short. Same with the DMM, I would've loved to be able to use it as a chorus as it was intended. Plus you get a cool self-oscillation sound being able to change the delay time to so low.
I basically need two pesets Andrew. 1) A fairly present tape-ish slap. 2) Longer but more mixed back DMM style sounds. Is this unit still a good candidate for that job?
Hey Andrew, great work! Your Kingsley Harlot pushed me into buying one, and I'm worried this demo is going to make me grab a starlight too! Are you using any of the preamps in this demo via the app? Let me know- thanks!
Thanks Jonathan, the Harlot is so good! Just used it on tour, so dynamic and beautiful, I could use just the Harlot alone for drive if I needed. I am using the Squire 86 here into the HX Stomp for IR loading, but I’m also pushing it with the Roccaforte telefunken preamp
@@AndrewChengGuitar Very cool! Sorry, I mean more like, on the UAFX app, you can turn the preamp on or off for the echoplex or DMM etc. I'm assuming they weren't on for this demo, right?
@@jonathangreig5939 oh my apologies! They aren’t on in this demo, just didn’t have time to get to it, but they sound great! I especially like the echoplex one. I don’t use them live though, because there is sort of a gap when switching presets between two different algorithms, ie. From tape to DMM. Works great in the studio, though! The tape one really warms it up and gives a light compression.
Hello please, advice which delay would you prefer: UA Starlight or Walrus Arp 87?; thank you very much for the tip. I know Starlight, so I'm asking about the comparison 😀

Thank you for the self oscillation demos done in a musical way. That was the main feature I wanted to see and nobody else does much with it.
This is how all demos should be. Like a visual manual. Tasteful too.
Thank you Daniel!
That's probably the best overview demo I've seen of this delay. Just really clear, concise and appropriate playing to demonstrate each sound and feature.
Thanks Grant! Appreciate it!
true
Amazing demo. Just ordered one, really looking forward to it. 🙌
Not sure if the best, but you have seriously one of the best approaches to pedal demos i know (and i know a lot of them).
Keep up the great work!
Thanks Filipe!
This demo needs way more likes, best one for this pedal on the whole interweb

Excellent demo! I’ve had this pedal for a little while and found the manual to be lacking quite a bit. Thanks for clearing up some of my confusion!!🤘🤘
You do the best pedal reviews! Thank you!
What a beautiful sounding delay, this sounds amazing
Super helpful! Thanks so much.
Awesome demo vid. Really inspiring!
I don't play the guitar but I'm seriously considering getting this and the reverberator just for vocals as an outboard gear
Very very good demo, wonderful sounding and great chord choices. Would have been nice to have an expression jack though
Great video. Thanks. Really helpful.
Fantastic video format. I now only buy stereo pedals and this one checks all the boxes.
Great review! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. They way you play made this a joy to listen to :)
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
@@AndrewChengGuitar Curious, do you know of carl martins Headrush pedal?
I think it may sound really good with acoutic guitars. What do you reckon?

Will work great for that!
So when you have two presets set up you can still access tap? @@AndrewChengGuitar
Great demo Andrew! Are you using one of your Kingsley's in front of that?
Thanks Matthew! I’m using the Squire 86 into the HX Stomp as an IR Loader

Was the DMM preamp set ON here? Would love to hear that if not.
Hey, it was off!
hey Andrew please, can you provide the information how you plugged that starlight and with amp you are using im a newbie sorry.
thanks for your help
Hi Ben, I just plugged the cables into an amp in the HX stomp, no real amps used here!
Are you running it in the front or the effects loop ?
