The courts just putting them on bail is the problem
Try the worst economy in the country, a Labor government consequence, and a failing justice system. Victoria is gone!
Yeah OK but if you want to get all political, you could also argue that part of the reason these cars are being stolen (like my HSV Maloo R8 was on Friday night just gone) is because the Liberals (Joe Hockey when he was Treasurer to be exact) goaded Holden to leave Australia, more than once, and eventually they did. Holden leaving means there are no more spares, panels etc, made for these vehicles, creating a black market and fueling the crime on these cars...of which I'm a victim. The State Libs did nothing about youth crime when they were in power here in Victoria. They were too busy bickering and fighting amongst themselves. I don't care for either side of politics to be honest. Where are the parents of these kids committing these crimes? My ute, the 8th last one made by HSV, #1372, was stolen by adults - not kids, from my home in Geelong so therefore it's no doubt in pieces and I'll never see it again.
@@vk3crg Sorry for your loss mate, I've had to reach out to a mate that has a rare as hen's teeth One. You're on point. Was not just the state but also Tony Failbott at the time that suggested we shift to German cars.
And the Liberals have no alternative plan unless Brad Battin dabbles into populism like what One Nation already do
@@Eschelonistic sorry if I came across as a bit snappy! I’ve been a bit cranky the last few days re my Maloo being stolen!!! Thanks your kind words. Have a happy 2025 mate - Craig - Geelong
Sorry to hear that mate. Sorry for your loss.
Police not investigating, then courts not punishing....
The spike in car thefts and youth crime can be attributed to a failure of leadership. The Victorian Labor Party has consistently refused to adequately acknowledge or address this issue. Instead, their focus appears to be on policies that have resulted in record debt, longer hospital and ambulance wait times, escalating gas and energy prices, infrastructure mismanagement, government wage blowouts, union-related controversies, and maintaining the highest tax rates in the country.
Get a manual car
Brilliant Idea. !! Almost all car theives these days can't drive manual.
Why blame the police,it's the lawmakers that need to step out.
The police had much more power back in 2020 but now they're powerless and biased
Police want a payrise. There proving how useful they are. 😂
When i move mine is going into the garage with the fuel pump disabled
Usual suspects no doubt.
Youth crime ? Adult crime -> adult punishment then.
There's no consequences
Alot of Melonated Suspects from what I've seen
In my case where they stole my Maloo R8 they were all caucasian males. In fact they looked like two sons and a dad. I asked the Police if it was any particular group etc and they said it was mainly "caucasian males of all ages". One guy they caught was 60!
Immigration?
I think by playing GTA, that’s what caused them to do it. It’s like they’re playing GTA in the real world.
Don't Blame Games 🤬
I've played GTA... I've never stolen a car... Am I playing it wrong? or could there possibly be some other reason...
Get an OBD blocker to cover the port to stop them plugging into the car to program the new keys or have an auto elec install a kill switch to disable the ignition circuit as well. No ignition, no start and physical switch cannot be bypassed by programming.
The police said the crooks are now just backing up to cars they really want and just lifting the back wheels with a tow truck and driving off with the car. I couldn't believe it but I saw a video from Melbourne that showed this very thing happening in the Victoria Market carport while people shopped at the market. If they really want your car, they'll find a way to get it unfortunately. They even put a tracking device on my car so they could see where I lived, worked, parked etc.. Kill switch on ignition, fuel pump and OBD lock didn't work.
Fake OBD port!
Your just giving away the secrets to breaking into them well done 😂😂😂😂😂😂
They said push button start was good. 😂
Terrible police tactics and almost no punishment.
Every year I hear this so insurance companies have a reason to increase their premiums.
Whos buying them
the parts are being shipped overseas to the US market where they have Commodores that were Australian made under the Chevy badge with a different name...while some cars are being shoved into containers and shipped to the Middle East and most of the people buying the parts don't even realise they are stolen. It's a disgrace. The bloke they had on air in this segment has made an excellent video on where these cars and parts are going on his car expert TH-cam channel.
The thiefs are stilling cars from disabled people who drive automatics 😢
Paul is such an icon
There are many ways people can secure their car when parked. Most people are just too dumb and lazy to do it.
That's easy to say but if they want your car they'll take it one way or the other. In Melbourne and Sydney they've started backing up to HSV's (especially) and just towing them away raising the back wheels in the air.
@ I know they can do that but it’s very rare unless it’s a very desirable & expensive car. I think you may find that’s less than 1% of car thefts.
@ yeah well the police tell me it’s happening more and more even for HSV’s. they towed away a Calais V in Melbourne last week! You’re right though it’s a very small proportion of thefts.
😂😂10 minutes for steering lock, 15 seconds cut steering wheel not the lock one slice.
Then push one section forward and pull other section back then it slides off the steering wheel
Thanks for that. I am so glad I have a few more tricks in my Commodore to look after itself including ...
