Hey there, I'm Shayne with the Bretonnians around 38 minutes. The main reason I go for exiles is the vanguard banner on the pegasus knights. The combination of a potential turn 1 charging green knight and the pegasus knights with attached knightly temper baron is often a backbreaking blow. Usually the gameplan after that is to defend the cannons and play keep away with the peggies thereafter. When I played against Phil's tomb kings list last month I had a hard fought draw in a mostly pointless game (he had more points than I could possible catch up to, he 20-0'd I believe everyone else in the way up to the finals table with me). Green knight was ludicrous because Phil's list only has one model with a magic weapon and I killed that model, so the green knight was just womping up the vast majority of his army otherwise. I believe he had his Tomb King on dragon and his mounted serpent things at the end of the game and I had some smattering of random units plus the green knight. Also, the reason I take an outcast wizard is because in Bretonnia Exiles you can't take a prophetess. Otherwise I would.
Yeah, it's a super strong list. I really like the exiles, and think they are very strong. Green knight is amazing, and has loads of cool counterplay options. TKs really struggle with magical weapons. I played an exiles list recently and hated it as there was almost nothing I could do against the Green Knight, managed to hold it up for a bit but...
@@MalignMusings I block up the terrain on my side of the board and then use my baron/my own green knight to neutralize theirs in theory. Haven't had the green knight mirror yet lol
Not many of my units particularly care about being accosted by him anyways. The archers/brigands will just flee or die, the yeomen probably beat him on CR, knights of the realm flee, peggy knights come with the baron who will kill him in a fight. The cannons are the only juicy targets
Good video, as always. I like your analysis. Keep it up. I'm not 100% convinced of the presentation of the all-or-nothing numbers. It looks like Dark Elves are the "worst", but they kind of aren't. I think it might be better to show the absolute numbers instead of normalizing the values per army. For example, you could have a vertical line in the middle with a blue bar left and green bar right for every army, with the scale going from -40% to +40% (because of skaven) With regards to Dark Elves, Shades are not bad, quite the opposite. The combination of BS5, scouts (less to hit penalties) and multiple shots is quite good. I have run the numbers on them and point-for-point, their shooting outperforms Bolt Throwers, even on heavy cavalry (unless piercing the ranks). They might be one of the best missile troops in the game. The army also took Black Ark Corsairs, and those are grossly overcosted. I don't think a backdrop is required. This is a personal choice in the end. It can look more professional if done right, but can also look worse. I kinda like the more person-to-person style you have going.
I'm the Vampire Counts player from the Beyond Odyssey tournament at 46minutes. I actually laughed out loud when you said, "Only 4 screams. That's nice of him." As a result, I subbed.
Yo bud. It's Jack Allen. Love your content mate. Been following from the start of Old World. Just answering your call about the Night Runners... It's just a "Skirmish Bunker" for the Illusion wizard.. Let's him spear out of your battle line, helpful when you're back tabling, so then hes further up and threatens a 360 degree LOS for his Miasmic Mirage. As when hes in a close order unit, wily general's will fly their shit out of his arc. People rarely target the unit too as they have to get through 10 wounds of chaff, but are mostly just more pre-occupied with the gutter runners. Loving the voice acting on the army name too - exactly as intended 🤣👌
Hey, good content, just FYI on Murderous: all models always have access to a Hand Weapon (Core Rulebook pg 213), so Dark Elf Assassin and all the other models could choose to use it to get Murderous. It's not worth it, it's the worst weapon rule in the game (immediately followed by High Elven Ithilmar Weapons), but they could use it.
My NOVA list was a bit unusual in that I was purposefully taking flavorful, non optimal choices to conform to the comp (namely battle pilgrims, men at arms). The peasant archers don't have stakes, but they're great for screening against shooting and denying ambushers vs TK. They also do well at taking objectives, claiming territory. The battle pilgrims did a decent job on the objective based scenarios in Game 1 & Game 4. The men-at-arms were underwhelming, but fun to paint! I also did another 1 day tournament 'Bazooka Old World Rumble #1' running a 2k exiles Brett unit. I would say that is my most 'honed' list. Thank you for the list reviews, always glad to see your meta videos. You should definitely get a backdrop :) Have fun with Rugby! -Luna Valentine
regarding the hobgoblin blocks and the khans on foot in the Chaos Dwarf armies: The Hobgoblins have warband, when you include a khan in the unit it brings them to Leadership 10. the 56 hobgoblin units would be set up in 6 rows of 9, for warband and horde. Volley fire gives that unit 36 shots.
Thanks for the analysis and discussion. If only new model availability would be the band aid skaven need :) Would love to see you talk more about skaven, although I appreciate you can't when talking about the top tournament placing lists (interesting to see those 2 skaven lists in the first tournament you discussed. However it looked like they both submarined, losing heavily their first games and then narrowingly winning and drawing the rest. About the channel growth I suspect those other channels had other channels that could recommend the new channel. I think the quality of content is king, most people couldn't care less about branded t-shirts and backdrops. Keep doing what you're doing, its good and interesting content. With your knowledge it might be worth doing deep dives into each faction talking about the various playstyles and type of lists that are doing well. It would be good for players of those factions as well as other players wanting to know what to look out for.
*Defensive stakes* can only be placed in the deployment zone, and once you move they are lost. *Shortbows* are better then warbows as they have quick shot, allowing the Ellyrian Reavers to move 9 then pivot and shot with out penalty. Also warbows use user strength so you could be hit by a spell that reduces your strength. The only unit I can think of that use warbows and are S4 is Big Un's. *Clanrats* I think a big unit of 30+ should be a staple, as it give you a leadership 10 bubble once your general joins. Also their not to expensive a unit of 30 with spears, shields and full command is only 197 points. They have I4 and get +1I when charged cause of spears. If you cast earthen ramparts they get a 5+ ward and the opponent gets no initiative bonus. You could also add in a cloud of corruption to make dangerous terrain and -1T to enemy units.
All good points regarding skaven, sounds good in theory... On stakes, I did actually remember that and think being able to put tricky dangerous terrain bricks down is another unique and deadly thing the brets have going for them.
I subscribed to you! you get to the 1000 before you know it, you doing great I do think a backdrop would look better. Might help you grow, my friend does his own channel that started small and now over 12k subs he found a back drop did help him grow Keep up to good work My man
I am damn sad you skipped all the dwarves in your run through the lists. You skipped the dwarves at 4th place at A Foray in Cathay turnement. Even the one that went 4th and won all of his 3 games at the Time of Legends" turnament (and must have been close to the Chaos Dwarves in points). Do you hate dwarves? Even the fact that the Dawrves in Old World meta atm seems to be told to be a weak faction, you should make sure to show when such a "low tier" faction does well, right?
Tbh. I normally only do the top three, dwarfs do podium sometimes! I quite like the little buggers, even did a painting vid on the anvil (see elsewhere). I'd love an army, just am undecided which way to go at the moment...

Anytime you wanna chat on the channel just ask, I'm sure you could get Luna or myself no problem

Thanks for the clarification, it is rather useless.

Also I'm so glad you enjoyed the unit flavor texts! Your chuckles mean the work was worth it :)
Thanks for the clarification. Do you ever use stakes?
Also I did see the other event but can't get data off it. Well done on that one too!

Thanks dude, all good feedback, I guess going back and revisiting faction focus etc...
I really like your videos, but I would love it if you would increase the font in your graphs, they are often not readable.
I'll try to do that in future, I just forget...
