Been watching your vids for a while now. Gotta say it hit home for me when you said your body knows when it needs to get up and move. I have had this yearning for a long time to get up and go out camping/learning more survival skills in my area. Always have been into survival and prepping and bushcrafting but unfortunately I have been sucked into the world of paying bills and working a mind-numbing 9-5 and always have used that as an excuse to not go learn these skills. I plan on changing that soon. Even though I live in Las Vegas, NV I still feel there is so much beauty out here in the desert. Your channel has inspired me to get out and explore more of this scenery and hopefully get more involved in survival and bushcraft. Even though we may all be getting old, the little kid in us still needs to get out and play, or as you say...get your boots dirty. Keep up the good work man.

For me, I grew up in the high mountains of Colorado. My family lived it being native. My Dad showed me this world. In the 60's we had to discover and make our own equipment as no commercial production in those days. We made our own frames etc. For long stay wilderness. We had no tv or radio so..we explored. Hunter gather hike. We used a tarp and old ww2 army blankets and duffle bags as heavey material for backpacks with electrical conduit for a frame. Plants, grubs rabbit, fish what ever. I had a foster brother and we just shy of wild animals.we were 13 and 16 years old n would go for weeks. Different cultures see nothing wrong with this type behavior. We did not think it unusual. We always brought food home. This was a live style..now days they call it a art, bushcraft, survival..lol. Some channels get some things right...others are concrete jungle cubicle boys native wanna bees. we call them. I for one glad to see the interest..I am almost 70 and still "back in"...and have some of my old equipment still in use. One advice I will give is this.. Learn old school and stay away from electronics for survival. Learn the basic of every skill set..go and do them...and never give up the joy of using them. They will developed life skills later in life....and keep you young!

i live in taos county n.m. i had some friends that lived out in the bush , they said when they went to taos they would camp in areas with ant beds, they said ants go to bed at 6 o'clock and didn't get up until 10 o'clock and rattle snakes don't like to go through ant beds wish we were neighbors
I can relate your inspiration from dual survival that brought you out in the wild. I myself is a nature lover and watching Naked and Afraid these days just working as a catalyst to me and I am sure I will be doing the same you did oretty soon.

to be honest, the dog doesnt really serve any purpose other than to be my companion. i found him one time, like one finds a stray. hes been with me ever since, kinda like my Wilson from the movie Cast Away lol
it depends on what im cooking. many times, cooking outdoors makes food far tastier and more enjoyable, from steak, to ramen noodles, to coffee. of course if the meal is more elaborate, then it would be easier to cook indoors.
I am not really, one for appreciating art. However the graphic novel at the beginning. Would definitely be something I would be interested in. Especially if the guy gets a magazine in his rifle. Other than that. That was actually rather beautifully done. You are a man of many talents James.
