Would you consider using different tools for different things? The danella tool for large areas of one colour, and a smaller hand held tool for the details? Or would the loop sizes be too different? Also lots of love and admiration from Australia!

You should get a rug tufting gun from tuftinggun.com you can get a cut pile or loop pile gun. I believe they ship to the UK or you can pick up one on Amazon. Either way it will speed up your production without sacrificing your quality a rug like the one you made would only take like 2 hours with a tufting gun.

I found a danella tool for $2 at our local charity shop a few years ago. Time to get it out and have a go!

I actually did that in this video. I have an adjustable punch needle by Rico design so basically there no worries about the size of the loops
