Thanks for this tutorial, it's serving me very well in Regrowth! One thing I've noticed is that sometimes the mana bursts don't pierce entirely through the livingrock, because it's interrupted by the pistons firing. This happens in a common cycle - first they'll all be broken, then only one will break, then only five will break, then they will all break once more. This cycle is caused by the ratio between the two hourglass timers; the piston timer runs for 3 seconds (3 sand), and the spreader timer runs for 80 seconds (8 sand). I was doing some math on how to solve this and here's what I found: If you take the modulo of 3 of these numbers, the remainders aren't equal, meaning every 3 cycles, they become uneven and cause the efficiency of the farm to drop to 2/3 of max output. What I've discovered is that if you bump up the piston timer to 5 seconds (5 sand) and the spreader timer to 90 seconds (9 red sand), the modulos of the numbers are the same, which eliminates the problem. The extra 10 seconds per cycle are outweighed by the net gain of livingrock and make the generator 30% more efficient. You just have to make sure that you load the second hourglass the same moment the first hourglass flips so you "sync" them together.
+Diamond Ice NS Quick addendum: the farm just captured 7 cobblestone somehow. Might be some slight lag in the pure daisies. This happens so rarely though that the efficiency is still greater this way.
+Diamond Ice NS This is caused by a chunkloading issue... Basically, the code for the Hovering Hourglass works on a different timing mechanism than the Pure Daisy. So there's situations where unloading a chunk results in the Hovering Hourglass continuing to tick for a bit while the Pure Daisy stops ticking entirely. The end result is that when that chunk gets re-loaded the Hourglass fires the Pulse Mana Spreaders before the Pure Daisy had a chance to conclude its conversion process. Hence, every once in a while you get cobblestone.
riskable It's not a chunk loading issue. I was watching it the whole time. I imagine it may have been something to do with subtle timing variances with the way Pure Daisies transform blocks. If everything worked perfectly, they should all turn at the same time, as the stone all falls into place at once from the pistons pushing; yet, they don't. It could also have something to do with the placement of my specific machine on a chunk boundary and have some sort of subtle chunk update timing desync, I'll have to see where the chunk boundaries are on my world and tinker a bit.
One note. Sometimes Stone generators will clog causing the need to tear into the guts and remove some cobble. The fix is to actually create a pocket below the lava flow for it to flow into when the water doesn't quite flow as fast as the lava and causes the lava to flow sideways into the water flow instead of vice versa.
+Mr. Hosed That's a good idea! That *does* happen from time to time. Usually I just break the cobble on the side and that fixes it but making a hole underneath is a much better solution. Thanks!
Great tutorial! Pretty compact and easy to setup, glad to finally have an automatic livingrock generator for my skyblock despite this being 8 years old!
awesome idea! I kinda changed it up a little bit, using exportbus->stoage->formation plane instead of lava/water directly. Playing in IE:Skyblock and I couldn't figure out how to automate the stone, or wood for that matter. Never would of thought of the bore/magnetization combo
The idea behind this build is it's possible with just Botania and Vanilla. No Formation Planes. It is a good idea to use them if you have them, though - anything that makes the setup more efficient/foolproof is cool.
Awesome! Love building out of Livingrock (and all of it's decorative forms) as well. Can't wait for more Patreon server action! Maybe a Gaia Guardian fight some time soon? Hint hint :D
advice: Place the flowers before the pools(convenient), and place a Recessive spark on the safety pool(Of course, place a regular on the Spreader pool). This makes sure the losses are miniscule.
So I am playing on a server on the FTB departed modpack and I built everything like you did but the stone wont turn into livingrock unless I place the stone myself and I have no idea why.
+StaffyPugDog:D Log out and log back in. I had that happen before and that was the fix =) Also, sometimes re-placing the pure daisy helps. Hopefully that'll fix it!
riskable I tried both of them sadly didn't work I have figured a diff way but it is more complicated xD I recommend this way if people can get it working :D
+riskable Oooh that sounds incredibly useful, I haven't had a chance to look through various types of flowers, so I tend to stick to the ones I know. Will you be doing a similar thing for the botania items?
minecraft15555 Yes, I'll be doing lots of very short videos about most items in the game. Some groups of items (e.g. Manasteel equipment) will be covered under a single video.
just implemented this last day. but tell me one thing I thought the piston can't push a chain of blocks if it's greater than 12 in length. that's the principle I used. but you seem to have implemented it in half of the length of mine. is the mana spreader an unmovable block by the piston? I can't think of any other explanation!
To make a composite lens just put two lenses in a crafting grid with a slimeball. Just make sure the Bore lens is first ("Bore Magnetizing"). "Magnetizing Bore" won't work =)
+Minecraft PRO Just combine them in a crafting grid with a slime ball. Just make sure it's "Bore Magnetizing" and not "Magnetizing Bore" (may have t swap around in the grid before you pull out the composite lens).
+Andy Yang This one is better. I eventually remove two of the Pure Daisies from my build on the Patreon server because I realized they were pointless. I ended up making a snow generator with one of them instead =)
+riskable personally, I think I get it, but what would be interesting is an investigation into what blocks the bore lens breaks, and how it breaks them.
+minecraft15555 Well, the trick with making snow using the Pure Daisy is that you need water to be around it... Which means surrounding it with blocks. You can break the snow by placing a mana spreader above it but then how do you make it all work without the Bore Lens breaking everything below as well? The trick: Abstruse Platform. Mana bursts go through it--even ones from the Bore Lens and it doesn't cost any mana. So you can surround the Pure Daisy on all sides one block out with Abstruse Platform blocks and have mana spreaders do the rest =)
+TheMourning Wolf I didn't die, LOL. I'm just busy with other things (life). Making videos isn't my day job and I have a young family to take care of :D
riskable lol alright ive been eagerly anticipating your next release of what youve done in pateon server thank you for reading and replying! I just got a little discouraged in new videos coming out but carry on! I wish you and your family well! Your fans know what matters, take care of your family we can wait. I dont know if ive subbed yet but ive been meaning to ill do it now if i havent. Thanks for all of the great content
+Ryan Paton Well, depending on how you care about efficiency, put pure daisies next to the bottom layer of Riskable's Tree Farm. 1 livingwood per tree per harvest.
This is awesome, thank you! I also had no idea about composite lenses until watching this and reading the comments, so I'm glad I learned that
I've come back to this tutorial a dozen times. I truly appreciate it, and the work you put into it. Even years later, it's still helping.

Except ... it doesn't seem to work :(
I did just that, and it keeps clogging
Great tutorial! Pretty compact and easy to setup, glad to finally have an automatic livingrock generator for my skyblock despite this being 8 years old!
I've had an issue with the Pistons pushing the spreaders back and breaking the timer so I just moved it all back

Man, I just love your videos. You are a Botania God! (I can barely even get started most of the time)

I'd have to agree that Livingrock looks really nice, and works as an alternate or companion to Nether Quartz.

great videos helped me get my brain goin for this mod, nice work
Did the lens just recently get nerfed? I'm playing on FTB Infinity and it doesnt seem like there is a way to combine bore and magnetizing lens.
+Legend You just put both of them together in a crafting grid with a slime ball (did you forget that part? =). Is that not working?
What do you think of the dandelifeon? How much have you messed around with it? Ever found any interesting patterns?
+minecraft15555 Honestly, I haven't tried it yet. I'll be doing that soon though since I'll be making a video for every flower in Botania!
+riskable

minecraft15555 Yes, I'll be doing lots of very short videos about most items in the game. Some groups of items (e.g. Manasteel equipment) will be covered under a single video.
I have to know, what is that huge collection of pools and sparks on the left at the start of the video?
EbonyGerm That is probably is mana battery.

Yeah, some blocks can't be moved by Pistons (e.g. Obsidian) and the Mana Spreader is like that... Piston won't move it. So there ya go!
@@riskable Not anymore apparently 🙁
UMM, so my lenses wont seem to combine is there a trick too combining them or what
To make a composite lens just put two lenses in a crafting grid with a slimeball. Just make sure the Bore lens is first ("Bore Magnetizing"). "Magnetizing Bore" won't work =)
my stone isnt converting into livingrock, anyone know why (tried replacing pure daisys)
(i'm playing FTB infinity evolved expert)
how do i make the bore magnetizing lens?
+Minecraft PRO Just combine them in a crafting grid with a slime ball. Just make sure it's "Bore Magnetizing" and not "Magnetizing Bore" (may have t swap around in the grid before you pull out the composite lens).
+riskable thanks helps a lot :-):-)
I really like this setup thx
Which would you say is better, this or the one the patreon server?
+Andy Yang This one is better. I eventually remove two of the Pure Daisies from my build on the Patreon server because I realized they were pointless. I ended up making a snow generator with one of them instead =)
+riskable Does the snow generator work in a similar way, but with water, or do you have a special harvest mechanism?
I didn't make any special harvest mechanism but that's easy enough. Do you want me to make a video showing how to make it?
+riskable personally, I think I get it, but what would be interesting is an investigation into what blocks the bore lens breaks, and how it breaks them.

Did riskable die or something? he hasnt pasted a vid in a month, and im still eagerly awaiting his patreon server play through

Great build, now try and do this for livingwood lol
+Ryan Paton Well, depending on how you care about efficiency, put pure daisies next to the bottom layer of Riskable's Tree Farm. 1 livingwood per tree per harvest.
+minecraft15555 Theres a flower that can place blocks. Have that place the harvested wood for you.
Broken as of 1.15.2 botania.. they made the lens combo impossible..
Thank you for the Video it was very helpful. keep up the good work
2 pure daisies? why not 4 like you did in the patreon server?
+Andy Yang The extra Pure Daisies are pointless since the automation only breaks six blocks per Pulse Mana Spreader burst.
thankyou! this is awesome~
Really cool! nice vid
beautiful, gj
