Really enjoy this vid! Enjoy listening to the tips and tricks from the tech! Keep it up! I'm no where close to your tech but I do appreciate the the procedures. I still have my 2002 GTI AWP with 260k miles. 5k oil changes always! I do all my repairs and have learned a lot! Love this thing! Have had it for 21 years! Solid engine!

Good for you bro! I like these videos too. I’m sure I do nothing close to what are able to, but I have always enjoyed working on my VWs.

What’s the average cost for this type of repair, $3000 - $6000?

$2k of work on a $4K car. Smart.... not!

Well, it is smart when it’s your personal car

@@GremcoGarage Purely IMO, spending 50% of a higher mileage ~20yo car's value is questionable. While it's almost always cheaper to fix something than to replace it, but repairs will just continue to pile up and chance of breaking down increases on an older car. At some point, they need to upgrade and taking that $5K (fire sale the car for $3K and $2K spent on repairs) for a down payment on a new closeout 2023/24 model year car could be an option.

And it is also smart because the car will keep running for another 10 + years. If you want to spend 30 k on a new car that might last you 5- 10 years than go for it!

If that is you only car I would say maybe buy another used car with less miles, but if the car has been good to you, why not repair it or learn how to do the repairs on your own and save on labor. These cars are faithful but you have to treat them well.

@@JJ-kw8fo It depends on the situation. Newer cars are more safe, and reliable (for the first 8 years at least). It's a personal choice, but at some point, it's going to break down (often the most inconvenient situation), and needing to be replaced. There is a reason why there are few 20yo cars on the road.
