Everyone I meet on overwatch say that Widow is so easy to play, yet when they pick her they're completely useless. They seem to think it's all about hitting shots, but it's way more about positioning, having a good sense of how the match is flowing and using your abilities at the right moments. I have yet to come up against a widowmaker that have won the head to head battle against me, yet people still trashtalk and say she's easy to play, then complain when they can't do shit because everyone attacks them. I guess it's easier for me since I play CSGO on a very high level (ESEA Main EU)
Dude, your instruction videos are SO helpful. Any time I am having trouble with a hero, I immediately look up your video. And even the ones I am good with, you have helped me improve.
I just want to tank you. I was having a hard time finding a main. I was using Mei but when I was done fighting bots I started to see myself getting worse with each quick play. But after watching this a character I was bad at has now become my best character. I don't follow everything this guide says because I've found myself doing my own thing and it's working out really well. Now I have a few friends that use a mic and I've turned into a Hitman for my team. As long as I know who to go for I can get them 6 to 8 times out of 10. I've started to watch guides to other characters to find ways to change my actions. I still have a long way to go before I'm anything special, but win or lose I can't help but have fun now. Thank you.
I think one mistake a lot of people make on Tracer is that they think Tracer is only a close range hero. Tracer is not like Reaper or Roadhog. She still does quite a lot of damage from medium range. So against Reinhardt, Reaper, Roadhog, Mei, Symmetra and Winston, the true close range heroes in the game, what you should do as Tracer is not to get as close as possible to them, but rather to kite away from them into a range where you have a damage advantage over the,. When you learn this, all of these heroes become quite easy beat in a 1v1, because none of them, except Roadhog with his hook, can catch up to you when you are kiting them.
I am a Tracer main, and my playstyle is sneaking around and shooting combined with close up combat, which is possible because of Tracer's recall and blink.
great stuff i tried tracer for the first time yesterday before I saw this guide - after our team got demolished by a great enemy tracer it is very addicting! i love how trying a new hero can feel like a completely different game!
Great guide - I've only just started playing as Tracer as my preferred offensive and I want to get better, so I appreciate such a thorough look at it from a beginner's perspective :)
Never really liked tracer before this guide, it showed me what I was doing wrong. First game after the guide and I get a POTG reel! Yey! Literally just the blinkety blink harass into bomb on a tank and its all money from there.
'Recall will never harm you.' That would have been nice to know a hell of a lot sooner. No guide I've seen before has ever touched on that issue. One less thing to keep track of when I'm waist-deep in enemy territory.
When will you be making another Easy to Learn, Hard to Master? These videos have helped me out tremendously and would love to learn more of your take on all the other heroes. This has been an invaluable resource I've been recommending to new players. Thanks for all the hard work you put into their production. It's my hope you continue the series so I could further elevate my game all the while educating those with your teachings. Great job.
Great Work Mate! That was some very useful info, I was alsways wondering what to do when up against another Tracer, and there were many other useful tips that I've used after watching this video, cheers.
One thing I have found best to do when you need to kill tracer is to go where she will be, as some characters do have the mobility to do this, but it does require a fair amount of map knowledge. Something else, when I fight tracer as soldier I have (only a few times mind you) been able to predict her blink and have her blink into my helix rockets, after she has taken one or two shots, as most tracers seem to prefer going for the kill. Also when I play Reinhardt, I find it fairly easy to force tracer to disengage, as my E will do two thirds of her health and is fairly easy to land, and as you mentioned it takes just 2 hammer swings to kill her. Something for testing and maybe the Reinhardt guide is that you deal your damage in the AoE for the entire animation, I have been able to get close enough with the end of a swing to hit a Tracer and the second one lands too fast for most people to react to. Hopefully something comes of this comment...
One thing; even though all of the written stuff regarding blink says that it is an instant teleport, in game its not, its more of an extremely fast dash. For instance, you can't blink through Reinhardt charge , keep that in mind. Awesome guide though, thank you :)
Summed up, Tracer is an offensive flanker that is excellent at killing supports, and here are few places SAFER than behind enemy lines. If the Pulse Bomb kills anything, it is NOT wasted. Bastion is essentially a free target for your Pulse Bomb.
"The answer is not to go and charge into the clump of five people and hope you suddenly awaken as Neo and dodge every bullet." Welcome to the real world. One thing about Junkrat though - I played Tracer a bit today and found this Junkrat did his wheel ultimate thing. I somehow managed to find where he was hiding (fluke I guess) so while the player was driving the wheel around, I killed the character that was standing there doing nothing and got the kill. Managed it a couple of times.
love blinking through a weakened Reinhardt's shield, planting the bomb on his back and laughing when he and his shield dies, second only to taking out a bastion or a turret. hehe
Hey Josh I just wanted to say I love this videos and they help me a lot. Can you do an easy to learn Genji next? I have been playing him a lot and I feel like I need to get better. thanks keep up the good work.
AMAZING JOB! Very well done and well organized especially for a character as complicated to play as Tracer. Can you do one for Genji next? I need to have at least one offense hero I'm good at (right now I suck at all of them) and I seem to do best with Genji. However I could definitely use some tips. Anyways, keep these awesome tutorials coming :D.
Can you please do a pharah video!? Here is something for using barrage. Like Genji, surprises work well for ultimates? One time in King's Row the attack was pushing the payload. I was sitting on that high up alley thing at the corner and the three of them were pushing the payload focusing on in front of the payload. I used it, they did not have time to react, and I destroyed them!
Also i'm not sure if this is completely correct but i remember that a discorded tracer dies from (possibly?) 1 hit from a well launched concussion mine.
In a Tracer vs Tracer mirror, the Tracer who is doing more for their team should try to get away and the Tracer who is doing less for her team should chase after the Tracer to keep that Tracer off her team right? Of course, it is not in any way straightforward HOW to know who is doing more damage, but if the enemy Tracer is on fire and you're not, I feel as if Tracer vs Tracer is actually good for you
Can you make a PSA or something about self-healing? It's really the equivalent of feeding in this game. Characters like bastion, roadhog, and berserking winston use their limitless heals to stay alive, but it doesn't generate any ultimate charge. Meanwhile, the other team's tracer just got another 30% closer to a pulse bomb because Roadhog pressed E. I play healers quite often, and it feels terrible to see a roadhog who isn't even being attacked hitting E as you heal them. They're just preventing you from getting ultimate charge. Even a short video addressing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I've noticed that Tracer's recall is very easy to predict (at least pre level 25, I'm only level 16), and I can commonly S:76 them with a rocket. I've also learned to just use it to engage. Run away, press E, free flank.
Counting that your rockets do 120 damage on a direct hit... It's easy to kill tracers. one two shots, tracers wont recall taking that little damage and a rocket to their face = death.
I do have a little annoyance with the way Tracer's use pulse bomb and get out. You dont always have to recall, but I donser them use it a lot. Just like earlier in the video where you threw the pulse bomb recalled then died. More then likely you can blink away.
Can you please do a video on flanking? Because it seems as though alot of people dont realise that certain heroes are very good flankers or try flanking really ineffectively, I was on a team with a D.va who was trying to snipe and I constantly see reapers just blink into open spaces or spaces in view of an enemy, it might be a simple video but I still think it needs to be addressed and I don't know as much as you and I'm ready to learn.
Hey OneAmongstMany. You mention that Recall drops Zenyatta's Orb of Discord, but I thought it funcitoned where any debuff is removed, so therefore Widowmaker's Venom Mine DoT and Pulse Bomb are removed off of you too (kinda like how Reaper can go into Wraith Form and make the Pulse Bomb drop on the ground).
Hey, just started playing Overwatch and found your channel! I love what your doing and find it very helpful, but could you perhaps clarify on which hero's those symbols are at the beginning of the video (0:25) on Tracer's card?
Roadhog's shotgun can do quite reliable damage on her even if you dont get a full pellet point blank shot, just keep firing at her (and learn the range at which it's better to fire the split-ball alternate fire) and healing regularly and you'll at least force her away to find a health pack. Only a hook will really -kill- her though unless you get lucky.
I generally wont approach a roadhog without a recall at hand. if tracer is close enough you could 1 shot her. If you miss the hook though all i can say is good luck.
If you can't land the hook on her you should probably avoid her. There is little chance you will get close enough to Tracer to win a duel without your hook. Go sit in the middle of your team, Tracer is not very good against grouped enemies, unless she has bomb up.
Weak against Torbjorn? Whenever I play Tracer I seem to end up being the one to have to kill the turret, whether pulse bomb or even a quick unload then recall.
Really good tutorial. Many youtubers just talk about how to do the abilities and call it a guide. this is what i call a guide.
You should put 'When in doubt, recall out' on a T-shirt
I like this idea.
This is BY FAR the very best guide for Tracer I have ever watched. Just superb. I can't wait for the hard to master one.
The timing on that opening statement plus footage was perfect.
Easy to Learn: Widowmaker - YOU'RE NOT A WIDOW MAIN. STOP IT.
Everyone I meet on overwatch say that Widow is so easy to play, yet when they pick her they're completely useless. They seem to think it's all about hitting shots, but it's way more about positioning, having a good sense of how the match is flowing and using your abilities at the right moments. Dude, your instruction videos are SO helpful. Any time I am having trouble with a hero, I immediately look up your video. And even the ones I am good with, you have helped me improve.
I've been recommending you to everyone i see asking for Overwatch guides, because your guides are so in depth and comprehensive.
I just want to tank you. I was having a hard time finding a main. I was using Mei but when I was done fighting bots I started to see myself getting worse with each quick play. this is literally the BEST guide on the internet! AMAZING SMALLLL DETAILS and amazinggggg explanation! Dude u deserve a sub, like and fav!

that is true and makes it really difficult to counter a good tracer
I am a Tracer main, and my playstyle is sneaking around and shooting combined with close up combat, which is possible because of Tracer's recall and blink.
I almost couldn't get through this because of some incorrect terminology but once again a solid video filled with tons of info.
I watched this guide and it drastically improved my Tracer game. Awesome work. +1 sub.
great stuff
i tried tracer for the first time yesterday before I saw this guide - after our team got demolished by a great enemy tracer
it is very addicting!
i love how trying a new hero can feel like a completely different game!
Very good tips and a very eloquent script. Much appreciated uploads my friend.
13:52 the little soldering thing was quite funny!
Great guide - I've only just started playing as Tracer as my preferred offensive and I want to get better, so I appreciate such a thorough look at it from a beginner's perspective :)
Been waiting for that Tracer: Hard to master for three weeks now :P
Btw this video was great! I'm only a level 9, struggling to get the hang of the rhythm of Tracer, and this helps me so much! Thank you!
This is a quality video
I play a fair bit of Tracer, but I'm always looking to learn. Great guide, thanks for making it. :)
Rip he didn't mention: armor blocks 5 damage per hit. This makes it really annoying to fight people like dva, whose health pool is mostly armor.
+gamersonly3d D.va is my fav hero and she just melts tracer who go for 1v1.
Never really liked tracer before this guide, it showed me what I was doing wrong.
First game after the guide and I get a POTG reel! Yey!
Literally just the blinkety blink harass into bomb on a tank and its all money from there.
These tutorials/Guides are fantastic. The best out on the interwebz thus far. Keep it up good sir! I really enjoy them :) (this entire series)
I love the information you give in this series. Please keep them coming. :)
'Recall will never harm you.'
That would have been nice to know a hell of a lot sooner. No guide I've seen before has ever touched on that issue. One less thing to keep track of when I'm waist-deep in enemy territory.
Nicely made, best tracer guide that I've seen so far. (I've watched a lot)

Excellent video. Very thorough and informative. Big thumbs up!
I hope you do this type of in-depth guide with all of them.
Also watching you play tracer is like a fluid wave of the ocean crashing against the tide
This was very in-depth already. Wondering what your plan for 'hard to master' is?
Finally a useful guide! Thank you.
Decided to try Tracer the other day and thought I was doing decent (which surprised me). I'll have to apply these tips to my gameplay to improve.
Great Work Mate! That was some very useful info, I was alsways wondering what to do when up against another Tracer, and there were many other useful tips that I've used after watching this video, cheers.

Yeah, discovered that the hard way.
Very well put together. Yours is my favorite Overwatch channel for a reason.
Wish you went into detail with other classes like you did this one.
Very good guide though!!
Very good advice. I've been looking for good Tracer tips. :)
Very good guide. Nice work

Class guide. Thanks for putting this together and keep up the great work man!
Thanks for the great tutorial! Helped me alot!
Awesome! I need them all! NOW!
Awesome guide, very informative!
Can you do an in depth genji guide next? =)
Thanks for this! Very helpful.
Awesome! Been waiting for this.
Excellent video
you sir, are making the best overwatch content i've seen on youtube! thanks for that and keep going :D
love your videos, you pack in so much content, it would be nice if you had time stamps tho. keep up the good work, cheers.
love blinking through a weakened Reinhardt's shield, planting the bomb on his back and laughing when he and his shield dies, second only to taking out a bastion or a turret. hehe
Hey Josh I just wanted to say I love this videos and they help me a lot. Can you do an easy to learn Genji next? I have been playing him a lot and I feel like I need to get better. thanks keep up the good work.
0:36 "We like to call this maneuver, Astral Circumcision."
I love frying Tracer while playing Winston.
Great video!
I can't wait for hard to master tracer
Damn this was a really good and helpful video! Thanks!
Amazing video. Genji next, please!
Very nice video! :-) feels like a lot of work went into it! :-)
Hi OAM! Might want to make a small note in the video that widow can no longer one shot Tracer with body shots following the latest patch!
awesome (like always), learned a lot!
AMAZING JOB! Very well done and well organized especially for a character as complicated to play as Tracer. Can you do one for Genji next? I need to have at least one offense hero I'm good at (right now I suck at all of them) and I seem to do best with Genji. However I could definitely use some tips. Recall reloads your guns always to full and hp will never be decreased by it.
Can you please do a pharah video!? Here is something for using barrage. Like Genji, surprises work well for ultimates? One time in King's Row the attack was pushing the payload. Also i'm not sure if this is completely correct but i remember that a discorded tracer dies from (possibly?) 1 hit from a well launched concussion mine.
A mine does 80 damage so I believe so yeah.
That was great. I'm loving all the numbers and i would like to hear even more of them. Is there a good source for all the dps sheets and hits etc?
search for the overwatch wikia
In a Tracer vs Tracer mirror, the Tracer who is doing more for their team should try to get away and the Tracer who is doing less for her team should chase after the Tracer to keep that Tracer off her team right? Man, I'm looking forward to the "Hard to Master" for Tracer, if your still planning on doing that that is.
Finally! The face of the game!
Also, I've noticed that Tracer's recall is very easy to predict (at least pre level 25, I'm only level 16), and I can commonly S:76 them with a rocket. I've also learned to just use it to engage. Run away, press E, free flank.

Yeah which is why you do recall at 120 health like he says in the video xD

Please make an Easy to Learn for Gengi. No one seems to have a good guide yet.

Also one for zenyatta as well
Epic vid! Thank you :)
Great guide dude! Im fucking with tracer tonight for sure
I am new to the game (I am typing this on my second day of playing Overwatch) and I got a nine kill streak with Tracer
Easy to Learn: Tracer - have 5 cups of coffee, 5 energy drinks, eat some sugar; when you feel it kicking in start playing - win.
lmao 5:27 "Teach me senpai"
I would venture to say that Tracer is also weak against D.Va, since D.Va's boatload of armor reduces Tracer's pistols to pinpricks.
Only problem with that is Tracer's ultimate charge.
Hey, just started playing Overwatch and found your channel! I love what your doing and find it very helpful, but could you perhaps clarify on which hero's those symbols are at the beginning of the video (0:25) on Tracer's card?
That are the profile pictures corresponding with the heroes.
Can you do a lucio or genji easy to learn please?
While you say avoid Winston, you're fighting Winston lol
do you still plan on doing a hard to master video for tracer?
so um, OAM.....what do you do as roadhog if tracer is is coming after you? i mean besides the obvious of trying to hook her.
Roadhog's shotgun can do quite reliable damage on her even if you dont get a full pellet point blank shot, just keep firing at her (and learn the range at which it's better to fire the split-ball alternate fire) and healing regularly and you'll at least force her away to find a health pack. I generally wont approach a roadhog without a recall at hand. if tracer is close enough you could 1 shot her. If you miss the hook though all i can say is good luck.
and hope she gets in close
Count blinks. Try to time your shots after she blinks. Hope she messes up.
If you can't land the hook on her you should probably avoid her. There is little chance you will get close enough to Tracer to win a duel without your hook. Go sit in the middle of your team, Tracer is not very good against grouped enemies, unless she has bomb up.
one day i hope to run into josh in a lobby and gain his respect by pummeling him into the ground
Weak against Torbjorn? Whenever I play Tracer I seem to end up being the one to have to kill the turret, whether pulse bomb or even a quick unload then recall.
When are you streaming again??
Which Hero is the green portrait under the category for bad matchups against Tracer?
I want you to be my teacher for some reason...
One Amongst Many, what do you have against Tracer? Just curious.
hey oam you should do challenge runs like good team comps, also if you have people to play with, 6 tracers in arcade brawl is so funny
@OneAmongstMany You say to count damage, but how do you do that? Just guesstimate based of the health bars?
how do you check how much damage you did?
Try to not die 2:41 🤣🤣🤣
You did forget to mention a well placed Hanzo reflect shot will destroy a tracer.
