For all of you that say Jayden isn’t a picky eater... you’re also not his mother and with him 24/7. And I literally said in the beginning of the video that he’s not the pickiest eater ever but he has his days... so obviously he did very good in this video like VERY good. But not everyday is like this.

Girl, I feel you! Some days my 18 month old will eat, and other days, he will throw EVERYTHING. Of course he never acts like this when my parents are around, so they tell me I'm crazy. 🙄

Mariah Leeanne it’s just very annoying, you don’t know what a picky eater is. Picky eaters never even like to attempt to touch or taste certain food, most foods. They struggle with textures, taste and everything. They don’t care much about decorations on food, they know what food it is and how it would make them feel in their mouths. Picky eaters are picky literally 24/7, not like one day they are picky and other days they are good. Your son attempted to touch and taste all the foods you made. That’s not picky at all, because he did eat so it means he just needs some different ideas and inspirations everyday to motivate him to eat. That’s how all of us human are. Please don’t use this word like “my son is picky eater oohh” when you’re like giving him cooked apples and everything, he just needs differently cooked foods so it motivates him to it. Like for this video you put a lot of effort in making all the choices, cooked brussel sprouts for the first time. And your son ate it. He might be just bored with same food routine. Stop saying picky picky. You don’t know what picky is. Period.

At his age, my son would pick the food up, squash it in his hands, and wing it across the kitchen. In the end, it was all in his hair, his clothes, face, the kitchen floor, everywhere. Very little made it into his mouth. He was more interested in feeling the food squish between his fingers than eating it. I would feed him just in a diaper, he would get so filthy. He is now a healthy, wonderful 29 yr old who eats normally and healthfully! There is hope, moms!

This is a great video. My son at age 3 only ate 7 kinds of foods. According to my doctor that was not a picky eater that was a extreme and needed some dressing. From there he got tested for sensory disorders and now 3 years later, he is six and has officially been tested and has Autism,. 3 years ago though he went through occupational therapy, really helped him so much with his sensory fears. So if you have child that wont eat anything, get the help you need. Today my son will eat over 20 foods, but it is a diet that took 3 years to build up, so he is doing better but it is still a day to day, month to month struggle because of textures. Every time he has a new food he touches it, smells it, then licks it before eating it. I know that sounds weird but it helps him get brave enough to try new foods. Best of Luck to all the moms/dads out there!

My son is in feeding therapy. He eats maybe 5 foods. Sometimes I can get him to eat apple slices and frozen blueberries. He will gag on a single piece of rice. He is a problem feeder with some sensory issues when it comes to food textures. Problem feeders and picky eaters are completely different. Most toddlers are picky eaters.

Every picky eater is different. Most toddlers are pinky because it's one of the few ways they can assert themselves, and they just don't like a lot of things.
When my oldest was pickyv people kept telling me all kids like peanut butter, but he didn't. He liked Mac and cheese, corn, and butter cookies. The end. Eventually he liked spaghetti o's the tomato sauce in spaghetti o's was his veggie serving. A few years later he started eating fruit.
Now he's grown and he mostly eats pizza. His favorite drink is water.

I was a picky eater and i read it was because you don't get a transition from baby food to solids food that you bite so read about that process so you can identify the root of the problem...
in my personal case I had several health problems so I couldn't step into that next stage and I never had a need because I was never hungry so I didn't had a need and I'm that way I hated fruits and vegetables because the texture was gross and also different temperatures and colors and different flavors was bad for example rice that have little vegetables or whatever that doesn't mixed with the rice flavor is bad because it doesn't make sense, is better to separate the flavors in that stage of transition.
My advice and for what I read is to make them part of the process
1- make them choose their plate and fork spoon etc
2- make them been part of the cooking process, they can peel, cut, rinse, and use those veggies spinners that dry the water after you wash fruits and veggies.
3- don't ask questions when they are eating because that distract and that can influence their decision to eat more of that food. Ask about food preferences in another time also don't talk about food preferences in the kitchen or dining room, talk about food in a random place like in the car or walking.
4- if everyone in the family are eating together is better to not talk about food or only comment how good it taste but in a normal tone, that way if your child doesn't like some vegetable in her plate but anyone's comment taste ok at least she would be curious. (But don't fake conversations because you can tell when the tone change and is not authentic)
5- if there Is more people eating together match her vibe, if she is chill relaxed match that energy so you can be on their level and probably they're going to trust your opinion about eating food.
6- if the texture of an specific veggie or fruit is what bother her, try smoothies or juices or tortillas for example I use to hate carrots on rice but I liked carrot tortilla.
7- the portion have have to be according ( in adults the hand tells how much for example the palm is the portion of protein, and and the fist closed is the portion of carbs and sides dishes)
8- don't talk about if they left food in he plate because they can think they fail, also in general don't talk about problems in their presence when they're eating.
Also this is personal I think but I remember when there was new vegetables that I never seen before or never take my attention before, and people was really excited and and was very relaxed that changed my impression im a bad way about that new vegetable. Is better to match with their energy so they can feel part of the table.
Before any food make them jump, stretch, dance, play so they can be hungry
Also if you are worried about growth it's all about stretch and jump so basketball is ok and a lot of stretch also yoga poses because they're basically stretches. Also vitamin c so a lot of lemonade with honey and a pinch of sea salt (that's basically isotonic drink like Gatorade) also calcium from sesame seeds, prebiotic and prebiotic foods. (Also that lemonade that I said work for anyone when you get sick etc also add chamomile tea to that because reduce inflammation that colds create)

If you guys have a true picky eater at home you can talk to your pediatrician to be evaluated for possible food therapy, (occupational therapy) sensory development/oral issue.could be the texture or/and flavors. Definitely with the try. If you think it's not normal, the child is not getting "proper nutrition" follow ur gut. Don't give up.

LOL!!! My 4yr old Grandson likes: waffles, corn dogs, and easy mac. Veggies/fruits are apples, carrots (raw), corn & peas (frozen-just warmed). Along with McDonald's (ONLY chicken nugget kids meal). My son, at 3-4, only ate mac & cheese (I would have killed for easy mac LOL!!!) for a year and apples. My daughter loved almost anything. And of course water, juice & milk. Every child is different. Your little guy does NOT look malnourished, looks very happy & playful. Don't worry about it. What I did (and do) is always offer new/different food, but when he gets older (I did this at 5/6ish, start of school)use the 3 bite rule--the kids had to have 3 bites of everything put in front of them, then their choice-either more of what we have for the meal, or a left over or pb&j. Not sure how this will work with my Grandson-he is Autistic, and a lot of his food issues are texture issues. But your recipes look delicious!!! I wish I thought I could get him to eat some of those things. But it wont happen yet LOL!!! Parenting should be fun--just use your best intuition. But like I said, your son looks amazing!!! I didn't look at any comments but if you have ANY naysayers, phhht to them 😝!!! Keep up the good work!!!! Can't wait to see another video 😊!!!

    • @lessehead
      @lessehead 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

She wants puréed food because it’s what you’re giving her! Throw it away and start solid food. When she’s hungry enough, she’ll eat. Don’t make a big deal over it. Just say, this is what we all eat! Parents say the same thing about bottles and pacifiers with toddlers...”They HAVE to have them!” No, they don’t. It’s more that the parent has a hard time with change than the child does.

Have you ever tried baby led weaning? I did that with my daughter starting from 4 months old. She’s never even had baby food besides a bowl of baby oat cereal before bed to keep her filled. She’s now a year and she eats three solid meals a day usually eggs or pancakes or waffles in the morning. Lunch is usually left overs from the night before or mac n cheese, chicken salad. And for dinner she eats what everyone else eats for dinner, chicken, tacos, pasta even pizza and so on. She’s never choked because I made sure not to give her anything to hard and I make sure everything is in bite sized pieces. She’s a great eater and have never had a problem getting her to eAt new foods. Best of luck to you!

Toni Fox I don't see him just eat healthy.I see him eat EVERYTHING.That's not picky.I know what picky is.You probably don't.And when you are a mom who is looking throughout TH-cam to find any ideas how to feed your picky toddler and find THIS...Well just trust me you don't have flowers, butterflies and little singing angels on your mind.So I'll say it again. She does not know what picky is.

@@Anastasia.D97 I felt the same . I thought I will get to see someone who has the same problems as I have.having a toddler who eats only 6-7 items that he likes and then I see this. I thought I might get some help from the video or some ideas for a picky eater.

No child. I absolutely know what picky is. XD how many meals does this video show of him eating? How would you even be able to tell in someone else's child.? Are you one of those know it alls that just thinks you're always correct? xD

How old was your baby when you started giving him old fashioned oats? My baby is 14 months but idk if it’s ok to give her that yet or not.

More than fine to give them oats at 14 months she can eat a lot of food you eat just make sure you make it very fine that it is easy to swallow.

How old was Jayden in this video? I'm just wondering because my son is almost 2 but my son is a big boy so it's hard for me to tell other children's age. Lol
I'm just curious about when they start getting picky eaters. My
Son is a picky eater too

I hate the word picky eater. I guess is as mother's forget that toddlers are their own individual person ...they have their own opinions and taste buds like any other person! We know what we like and so do they! Making the whole process of foods positive makes a world of difference!

just letting you know that THIS is definitely NOT your son. you dont live with him. you don't see what he eats on a day to day basis. my little cousins would eat most of this, but wont eat a bunch of other stuff cause he is picky. wow! this kid ate his food today, whose to say he's gonna be the same tomorrow?

He seems like an excellent eater. From my understanding, kids eat better with the tv running. I haven’t done that yet so maybe that’s why my kid doesn’t eat so well lol
How old is he? That’s so important. A 13 month old toddler and a 2.5 year toddlers are very different.
