I really enjoyed this book. I lost my mom when I was 14 and grieved the loss of all that was and what could have been for her and us. Now as a mom to an adult daughter, I strive to relay so much to her about my failures, successes and greatest joy: Her. Thank you for sharing your story. 💛
I just picked up Crying in Hmart a few weeks ago and haven’t read it yet, love this interview and can’t wait to read it! I definitely understand the challenges of having family that are super rooted in a culture you aren’t familiar with, that’s how I am with my family from Jordan. I think we can all relate to food being a connection to your culture and a way to share your love for your culture to your family.
I learned about Michaelle Zauner's autobiography after shopping at H - Mart for the first time. I lost my uncle this Christmas, so this is perfect timing to learn about her life. - Justice Constantine
I am definitely not a Korean person, but, boy-oh-boy! How much in my guts I can relate to every word in this interview! A book would be even more attuned to my experience! Thank you for the introduction! Have a Happy holiday and a Happy New Year!
Wow how sweet i really enjoyed ur life story ur mom is an angel taking care of you from above she is with our heavily father GOD YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL GOD BLESS YOU
Loved the book... STILL So pissed off no one bothered to research the correct pronunciation of Oregon Rivers and Towns/Cities in the audio version on utube. Shame on you! Do it Right... or pass!
As a Korean i must say.. Michelle Zauner--shame on you to named your band "Japanese Breakfast"👎👎 you're literally advertising Japanese culture. Please change your band name to different name or Korean Breakfast.
1. 일단 미셸은 한국인이 아님. 어머니께서 한국인이셨지, 미셸은 아님. 2. 일본 문화를 미셸이 배척할 이유가 있을까? 게다가 '재패니즈 아침식사'가 무엇을 의미하는지 님은 모르잖아. 일본 문화를 홍보하는게 아닐 수도 있는건데? 3. 마지막에 '한국 아침식사'로 바꾸라는 말 보면 님 지이이인짜 없어보임. 아니 쟤가 국뽕캐야?? 자기가 하고 싶은대로 사는데 밴드 이름을 '한국 아침식사'로 바꾸라는 꼰대같은 짓좀 하지 마;;
Poor brother/sister, you can only think of her band name for this interview (completely irrelevant). In another interview she explained how she made the band name... Sorry to say this, you are not matured enough to make any comments... Go and educate yourself.
I enjoyed your book, which my daughter presented to me, saying she cried several times while she read it. One thing I'd like to let you know is a name of a misused Korean word: sesame leaves(깻잎) should be perllia leaves.

can’t stop crying when hearing her reading the book
The audiobook is incredible. Shattered my heart over and over and mended it with laughs. Fantastic writing.
hearing her reference and mention lines written in her book with her voice makes me so emotional

너무 감동적으로 읽었습니다. 언젠가 드라마나 영화로도 나왔으면 좋겠습니다.

Oh, what a lovely, loving young woman......so much insight into a world I don't know but look forward to learning about from her work...Thank you.
Well done. It's in my Amazon basket but tempted to get it on audible.
What a lovely interview! I’m definitely going to have to get a copy of the book now.
I cried in many places reading and listening to this book…luckily not in H-Mart.
Loved the book... STILL
