Well, I now (finally) own every one of the 41 Discworld books, every Mapp, and every movie (including the cartoons); I have read and seen them all multiple times and can still go back and happily read and see them all again. It is as Sir Terry said: No one is truly dead as long as heis name is spoken. I, for one (and I'm very sure I'm not alone in this) will always remember the Wit and Wisdom of Terry Pratchett.
I've started reading the series over again from the start and am now currently on Sourcery, one of my favorites. Man what a great series and a great author.
I hope when they buried him, they buried him with his books; just like the wool and the shepherds in his book ‘The Wee Free Men’. May you live on through your stories and enrich the lives of readers for the many generations to come.
One of my fav lines from one of his books "Shit by the fire and have shum shoop" lol. I REALLY wish he'd make 3D animated versions of his books, i think they'd be extremely popular but i guess funding would be a big issue. Kinda like Shrek animation it'd be so cool to see Rincewind and Twoflower in 3D getting up to their funny antics :)
I've just finished my first Discworld book, "Men at Arms" and I think it's a great book. Terry Pratchett is an amazing author. I think the best part of the Discworld series are the characters because you can related to them and they're lovable.
I'm only 15 books in to the Discworld series and I'm loving the ride, his style of writing is turning into a huge influence on the way I try to write myself, of course I can only dream of ever having a smidgen of the talent that Terry has with the written word.
As an aspiring writer, I know what you mean. Another inspiration of mine is the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. That series was what got me into reading!
Yeah I see what you mean. I think the earlier references were more to other books in the genre, (the first couple of characters in colour of magic are a parody) , but given his love of punning I'd be surprised if other media refrences didn't turn up right from the start. I wonder if l-space has the answer?
Anyone whose read the New Discworld Companion will know that Mr Pratchett doesn't think that JK Rowling stone Hogwarts from U.U. in any way. It's a detailed answer in the book, but the long and short of it is there have always been schools for wizards of some shape and form in storytelling since such stories began, and U.U. and Hogwarts are just two more contemporary examples. JK Rowling could well have written HP first, and then Terry Pratchett would be accused of nicking the idea! I
i love all the watch books, with vimes and the gang, but light fantastic and c of magic were brilliant too! reaper man i have read 3 times nw and is one of my favourite! Pratchett is the best!
i've read Terry Pratchett's Hogfather. and OMG!, it's fantastic and funny. espesily when bad language is used in the dialoge. i don't read very often, so give me a one of hes books and i promise u, i fliping read it!
English people sound different from city to city. Even is they are fairly close such as Liverpool and Manchester the accent is very distinct. Most people in the USA ( if you are from there ) have not heard many English accents because the London or South East England accent tends to be in all the movies.
Terry patchett plays the elder scrolls IV oblivion :D if only there was a way to combine my favorite game and my favorite books, man, a bethesda discworld game would be absolutely fantastic
Pity me. I think Terry Pratchett is one of the grear thinkers inliterature. His views on how the world (not only Discworld) make him equal to other 'fiction' writers like Aldous Huxley. Have you even read Discworld?
"Terry Prat-ket" I'm been pronouncing it wrong all along. He, Brian Jacques, and Neil Peart are probably the three most mispronounced people in the world.

He livened it up a bit. Maybe a lot. Thanks Terry.

Nanny Ogg's cookbook ... use the loo before reading... do NOT read in the library, I nearly got thrown out...
The video image quality is "Auto 144p", which is about the lowest definition you can get.
@lozleader how can you get "more english" than his english accent?
@demosj Pratchett is on a completely different level to JK...
The Discworlds books are my all my favourites :)
Read it and find out!
Terry Pratchett is the best at putting sarcasim into the written word.
I have a few of Terry's discworld novels. I want to get into them but I struggle to understand it. 🤓

Oh Terry Pratchett, if I where only 60 years older...
Terry patchett plays the elder scrolls IV oblivion :D
if only there was a way to combine my favorite game and my favorite books, man, a bethesda discworld game would be absolutely fantastic
Terry Pratchett is the funniest author alive. Period
Janekroll even funnier than Douglas Adams?
His daughter writes videogame scripts... she did Overlord 1 and 2.
@tsactuo123 Search for the Discworld MUD. If it's still up. its text-based though
Love him!!
Imagined his voice different though... more English.
That's as English an accent as you're likely to hear now that we're all as multicultural as Ankh-Morpork.
@johnpaulmccain - Couldn't put it better myself :D
I just discovered Discworld. I think it looks cool so I'm going to go......BUY A BOOK!?!?!? Oh no whats happening to me?
Why don't you just let us have your ways and read Pratchett and you read Sartre and stop bothering us. That'd be really sweet of you :)
Can't wait for another Moist Von Lipvig book!
The man is a God
@jordanbarker676 As long as it improves their work, a little rivalry can go a long way.
@Highstar25
bethesda discworld I have though the same thing a huge real time ( ish ) discworld game would be amazzzziiinn
He was so incredibly based and wonderful.
@thanqualhighseer Probably because they're too many of them??? Or because "Discworld" hasn't cemented in the American market yet...
erm y not both?
In real life he was a loathsome creature. Completely full of his own self importance.
I assume you have proof of these claims of yours?
i'm a lord of the rings fan
He might not be in so much danger from Alzheimer's atm, he's undergoing treatment that has halted the disease, possibly improving his condition. :)
Nope 😢😭

Have you even read Discworld?
Its all about the money
If you are a cynical and greedy ass, then yeah it is.

Proof the earth is flat.
No, the Disc is flat. Read The Science of Discworld, and/or watch this video about TSoD -
