Hey great video I use the mixer for a similar situation like hybrid zoom meetings and confer and I have my mixer all set up but I ran into an issue where audio from the USB starts making a static hissing sound for about 3 min and goes away. It’s super distracting and i get all eyes on me to fix the situation. Any tips
P.s all my cables are in securely but it sounds like a connection issue but I have no idea.

Thanks for that very useful, I’m looking at getting one of these for hybrid and panel events. How are you finding the AMM for panel events in the real world?

It works as good as the AMM on a Yamaha TF series console or an X32/M32. I have no complaints.

Thank you for the video. Sorry if this is obvious, but are you running any cables from the Zoom outputs (5 & 6) to say a PA speaker or is that not needed as both the incoming audio from the PC and the microphone audio all go through the Main L & R? And yes, a complete setup video with mic's and speakers would be great including how to ring out any feedback. 😀

I think he created a bus or submix with outputs 5/6, sent mix-minus channels to it, then routed it to outputs 22/23, to feed USB / Zoom laptop.
In other words, I don't think physical outputs 5/6 are used for this demo...

If you wanted to record the hybrid event for later posting to YT, I assume you can't do so in the CQ because utilizing the USB functionality means you cannot also use the SD card. So I guess it would just be recording the meeting within Zoom session, right?

Yeah, I think if you were wanting to multi-track record or stereo record the Main L/R you would need to use an external audio interface like a scarlet or presonus and not use the CQ-18T as your computer interface. For larger corporate events this is how we typically do it. Video world has the zoom computer connected to a presonus interface and then I just send analog audio back and forth to video world. When I use my X32 the stereo USB record is fixed to the Main LR I believe. With the Allen & Heath it's handy that you can change that assignment but not so handy that it changes it for everything. Perhaps this is something that will be addressed with a firmware update because it would be handy to record the main LR to the thumbdrive while sending zoom audio to the zoom computer. The other solution would be either record with zoom or using an external audio recorder. I always keep a handheld recorder with me for backup recordings. You could just create another mix to send to your handheld recorder. There are always multiple ways around things. You just have to figure out what works best for you. But I think recording in Zoom is the only way to get the video as well if you want to post to TH-cam without using some sort of external video capture device like the feelworld cut6s: amzn.to/40YLE7f but that is probably just over complicating things.

I have just had a look at a couple of your videos. In summary would you suggest buying one of these for a 4 piece band situation? I like the look of this because of the screen instead of the QC20B or other brands. What's your verdict?? Thanks, Mark.

I would go with the unit that has the screen. I don't trust wifi only devices. I've owned the Midas MR18 and Soundcraft Ui16 and have had both crap out on me at a gig. So that rules the CQ20B out for me any day. Now my main gripes with the CQ-18T would be lack of an IEC power cord. I don't like power bricks and flimsy circle plugs. 1/4" monitor sends but I own a bunch of adapters since I had a Presonus 24.4.2 back in the day. And the one current issue that I've had and other users have reported... Sometimes the Bluetooth audio chops in and out like it's skipping. Not sure why. It's not the connection. Possibly the buffer? I'm guessing this will get fixed with a firmware update. Just seems weird to me that I can buy a $25 set of bluetooth headphones and never have a skipping issue. But you buy an expensive mixer and the Bluetooth doesn't work properly. Lol with that being said, I started mixing bands on a PreSonus 24.4.2 and I would rather have the Allen and Heath cq18t any day over that mixer. I think they had bands in mind that were mixing their own sound when they designed the CQ series. It's missing a few tools that I use for corporate audio, but it has everything I use to mix a band except mute groups to mute everything except the music when you go on break but I think this will come with a firmware update as it is a highly requested feature.

Thanks for recent opinion. My unit arrives tomorrow here in Vegas. Replacing a Zoom L-20…use mainly 4 pc band. @@TheAngrySoundTech
