Length of foundation chain 55" Width of scarf 6" Width of scarf with hood 18" I'm making this scarf in 2024 (thank you for the pattern!) and was unable to find the measurements in the comments but found them on the blog 😊
A few corrections regarding the stitch names used in this video: 2:18 - hdc in the back loop only (instead of 3rd loop) 3:28 - hdc in the back loop only (instead of 3rd loop) 4:06 - hdc in the back loop only (instead of 3rd loop) 8:17 - hdc in the 3rd loop (instead of front loop only) 9:10 - hdc in the back loop only (instead of 3rd loop) 9:45 - hdc in the 3rd loop (instead of front loop only) If this is confusing, just ignore the stitch names (you can also turn off the sound completely) and follow the movements in the video. It will show you where to insert your hook regardless of the stitch names.
I've struggled learning this pattern because I couldn't follow the video very well so my hoodies are closer to the written pattern. Please update the written pattern as that worked better for me.
Hi Wilma, I really enjoyed making this. Your instructions were easy to follow. I have confidence in your patterns that they will end up really well. Thank you! I love the hoodie. Had the exact same yarn! Thx again. :-)
Already made one red, 3 gray, 1 black, one white (with bunny ears), 1 pink (with bunny ears) and one cream (also bunny ears) :) thank you this is my favourite
This is so beautiful and it looks like it crochet up quickly, which I'm all about since I go between about 5 different projects at the time because of my ADD . I'm always looking for projects I can complete in a day or 2 and this looks perfect! Thank you! I'm going to start on it today. It's the beginning of December here in Florida, so these would be nice gifts for my friends! But I'll make one for me first!
Muy bonito tu proyecto te felicito y Dios te bendi5 y sigas haciéndo más proyectos cuidate mucho desde México, San Luis Potosí. Que Dios te bendiga siempre
I made the hoodie on my 2nd one now. I used Bernate chunky Yarn for the 1st one...came out beautiful for the wintry months I love it xoxo : ) Thank you for the lovely video so easy to follow, new subscriber,
Dankjewel! 👌
Yes, it was a great tutorial to follow but I found I needed the scarf to be longer but the great thing is how quickly they whip up! Awesome Christmas gifts!! Thank you Wilma❤❤
Thank you for the pattern. Super easy quick pattern. I used one skein of Premier Basix Worsted in Gray using an L hook and made the scarf part a bit longer. it is so soft and yummy I wore it all day!
I love this pattern! But I'm using different yarn and I'm having to go off of measurements and not the amount of stitches. When you say 18in for the hood part does that include the part that was already crochet for the scarf part? Or 18in as if we were making the hood part separately ? Thank you!
Hi 👋🏿 👋🏿 THIS HOODIE SCARF IS INCREDIBLY SPECIAL!!!! I'm nearly done with it.🎉 I'm using color Kale #13 Alpaca Yarn...Along with swim shorts for an outfit to cover swim suit ❤ Thank you 🙏🏾 for this It's Easy
Important edit: just made mine, and I like it. However, I did what I said I would (see below) and I have to fold the scarf up in the back to wear it properly. The right way would be to include the scarf in the 18 in. I also had this question, and came back to see if she said. I'm just going to subtract the scarf because I want a big hood.
Love the pattern! I’m almost finished with the scarf part but because I use different yarn I do it on measurements. Wat is the measurement of your row 13?
I never heard of crocheting HDC as you go, rather than make a chain first- that’s so wild! Quick question- what size hook would you recommend for Bernat yarn? And how many stitches across should I do? Any help is appreciated!
I'm currently crocheting my second scarf following your pattern 😊 my tipp is to try and do the foundation the way you did in the video, even if it's tricky (it was for me at first). But the result is much better compared to doing a regular chain foundation, which is sort of rigid and not as stretchy.
I’m making this now an I have a question about the hood brim. Should the ribbing be on the inside or outside when worn? All the other areas, you are always doing BLO which means it can be reversible. But when you do the brim you switch between BLO and FLO so I can’t tell from this video which way it’s supposed to go when finished
Thank you so much... I'm trying to make this, but my yarn is a bit thinner, would you please tell me how long do the 115 foundation half double crochet were? Thank you.
I'm making this with both the video and the written instructions. In the written ones you say that the length of the scarf should be 55", I work in cm and the inch to cm calculator says that 55" is about 139/140 cm, but when I have 115 in the foundation chain, it messures to around 112 cm. so now I'm really confused, what does that mean for the other messurements?
I followed the pattern exactly only I chained 117 because I couldn't do the fountain half double but other than that followed to a T. It is extremely to short... What did I do wrong?
Mine was looking much shorter as well, so I increased it by 20 to 137. It’s still shorter than hers, but still able to wrap without being overly tight. Next time I will go up another hook size and add another 20 chains. I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one!
Hello Wilma, in row 13 the start of the hoodie, do 44 hdc, what is the measurement of the 44 hdc row. Would like to know the length so that I can then use any wool and size needle to do the hoodie. Thanks
How many inches is the hood before adding the brim? Looks like 1/3 of total scarf length, which is about 18 inches. Then adding another 2-3 inches for the brim? I wish those measurements were included with the others :/
Thank you this Hooded Scarf pattern. I will definitely make it soon and it’s beautiful. I made your other Hooded Scarf using faux fur and I get so many compliments. It’s one of my favs and I’m sure this one will be too. I love your designs. Many blessings to you 😘
The link doesn't work :( Will be watching for an update on it. I can't wait to make this. Thank you for all of the beautiful patterns you share with us!
Lovely! I look forward to making this. Thank you! I just finished this! I had a dusty pink touch of alpaca, it was fun to make and very pretty. Thank you again!
Foundation stitches method makes for a more flexible foundation, and it eliminates the need for the separate chain then turning and working the first row.
Absolutely love this definitely going to make this. Thanks for another great design. Need to get yarn been down with covid first place I'm going is Hobby Lobby and Michael's...I found yarn it turned out so beautiful...I love it....thanks again
When working flat, it's the horizontal bar on the front of your work. When working in the round, the 3rd loop is on the back of your work (loop furthest away from you). Hope this helps! x
Hello Wilma! Nice 💡. I am have the yarn in olive green and navy probably doing two and give them to my two Daughters ( Diana 28, Natalia 26). Thank you for your time and tutorial! Stay safe 🙏 😷😍🥰👍😉🌺🌹🌼🌻
Ik heb heel veel moeite met het aan elkaar naaien van de uiteindes. Het gaat veel te snel, waardoor ik niet zie in welke steken ik precies bezig moet zijn :(

Hi Wilma,
I really enjoyed making this. Your instructions were easy to follow. I have confidence in your patterns that they will end up really well. Thank you! I love the hoodie. Had the exact same yarn! Thx again. :-)
I used the exact same yarn xD turned out beautiful ! Already made 3 of those for my friends and I. Thank you so much Wilma !
Aah so happy to hear 🤗😍👏

Very enjoyable and it turned out great! I had the same yarn in the green color, I love this yarn! Thank you!
I love the ease of this pattern. I plan to make several. It looks lucious.
Already made one red, 3 gray, 1 black, one white (with bunny ears), 1 pink (with bunny ears) and one cream (also bunny ears) :) thank you this is my favourite
amazing!!
Please cab I ask what weight yarn did you use? Chunky -DK ? ❤
@@kellyannrogers3859 DK weight yarn and 8mm crochet hook
Great tutorial! I can easily readjust the hood sizing to cover all of hair/head.

I’m in love with this pattern.
I love this ☺️ it works up fast and it's very cute and cozy. I made the scarf and hood part a little longer and taller so it could fit me though.
Yes, it was a great tutorial to follow but I found I needed the scarf to be longer but the great thing is how quickly they whip up! Awesome Christmas gifts!! Thank you Wilma❤❤
I love this!! Thank you so much for a wonderful idea and tutorial. Well done!

It was a little short for me too.
Just finished making mine it is really cozy☺️

Can you tell me what the measurements are supposed to be for this. How tall and long in inches before you sew it all together?
Gracias por compartir este modelo le encantó a mi hija lo vuelvo a repetir 😘🇪🇸

This video is great. I have a hard time with the gauge. I want to make a smaller version. For a toddler. Do you have any advice.bb
Love this pattern. Do you have any tips on making it smaller? I would love to make one for my 6yo daughter
Love this!!! But then I love all your designs!!!
Thank you so much!❤️
Beautiful scarf
I love your videos ❤
What weight is the yarn your using the video isn't clear about this 😢
Great crochet. Thanks for sharing.
Is the hood supposed to measure 18 inches including the scarf you’ve crocheted before working on the hood? Or is the hood 18 inches on its own?
Same question
Important edit: just made mine, and I like it. However, I did what I said I would (see below) and I have to fold the scarf up in the back to wear it properly. The right way would be to include the scarf in the 18 in.

This is lovely, will be making one for a friend birthday.

Like to add a longtail to this tutorial, but totally dont know how too, are you able to help please, im a total beginner myself, but getting there ✌🏽💚
Very Nice! Can you use a smaller hook like a size 7mm
Thank you for sharing your pattern I love the way you teach us .it's ok to share your pattern on facebook when I'm done making this beautiful scarf...
I like this very much, thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much... I'm trying to make this, but my yarn is a bit thinner, would you please tell me how long do the 115 foundation half double crochet were?
Thank you.
I’m also using medium (4) yarn and 8mm hook but only took 6 rows to reach 6 inches instead of 12 rows as instructed. What did I do wrong😢
Thankyou so gorgeous God bless you
Hi!! Can i make more chain, instead of 115?
I'm making this with both the video and the written instructions. In the written ones you say that the length of the scarf should be 55", I work in cm and the inch to cm calculator says that 55" is about 139/140 cm, but when I have 115 in the foundation chain, it messures to around 112 cm. so now I'm really confused, what does that mean for the other messurements?
Wilma, what would the length of the scarf section be after casting on, thankyou
I followed the pattern exactly only I chained 117 because I couldn't do the fountain half double but other than that followed to a T. It is extremely to short... What did I do wrong?
Mine was looking much shorter as well, so I increased it by 20 to 137. It’s still shorter than hers, but still able to wrap without being overly tight. Next time I will go up another hook size and add another 20 chains. I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one!
I was wanting measurements vs stitch count alone. Her instructions were for a child size, using 8mm hook & her stitch count.
Much smaller than shown.
Very nice ..thank you 💖💖
Is the scarf pattern multiples of 5+2 because I'd like to make this a little longer
Love how quick and easy this works up!
Thank you so much ❤️
I love it so cute
Super cute,I'm making this for my girl
Thank you I love this
Hello Wilma, in row 13 the start of the hoodie, do 44 hdc, what is the measurement of the 44 hdc row. Would like to know the length so that I can then use any wool and size needle to do the hoodie. Thanks
This was my question and is missing in the written, continue working until 18 inches but doesn't say the 44 sts how long?
I didn't hear how many stitches were used for the hoodie i would love to try this
Thank you for sharing this
115 chains
Or enough sts to measure 55 inches
How many inches is the hood before adding the brim? Looks like 1/3 of total scarf length, which is about 18 inches. Then adding another 2-3 inches for the brim? I wish those measurements were included with the others :/

Çok güzel, teşekkürler 💐🌺🌿
The link doesn't work :( Will be watching for an update on it. I can't wait to make this. Thank you for all of the beautiful patterns you share with us!
Thank you so much! That's strange, can you try again? Link should work. ❤️
Perfect! Working now. Maybe the internet just needed more coffee ☕ 😉
Thank you so much for sharing! I just bought the kit in dusty light blue! I love your design so much!!🧶🧶🧶
Can I use a bulky weight yarn for this? Thanks for sharing. This is great!
Im wondering the same!
ALYUHAUUHA THE HEAVENLY FATHER cover you so amazing
Cool!
Thank you so much 👍💓
Beautiful thank you!!!
You’re amazing
Lovely! I look forward to making this. Thank you! I just finished this! I had a dusty pink touch of alpaca, it was fun to make and very pretty. Thank you again!
That's amazing! That color is absolutely beautiful ❤️
Cheryl after you make the scarf then continue on she says go 18 inches is that correct ?
What’s the difference between making the foundation stitches vs just chaining and making the stitches afterwards??
Foundation stitches method makes for a more flexible foundation, and it eliminates the need for the separate chain then turning and working the first row.
Lindo🥰 parabéns 👍😘
This is Fabulous ♥️ So much cuter than the other ones I've seen ⚘
Thank you so much Linda ❤️
I was wanting measurements vs stitch count alone. Her instructions were for a child size, using 8mm hook & her stitch count.
Much smaller than shown.
Same
Me encantó gracias
بسیار عالی متشکرم 💜
Has anyone figured out the measurements to make it child sized? Thanks!
Absolutely love this definitely going to make this. Thanks for another great design. Need to get yarn been down with covid first place I'm going is Hobby Lobby and Michael's...I found yarn it turned out so beautiful...I love it....thanks again
I don't understand where the "3rd loop" is -- it seems to be different from the back loop?
When working flat, it's the horizontal bar on the front of your work. When working in the round, the 3rd loop is on the back of your work (loop furthest away from you). Hope this helps! x
That had me confused as well. It looks like it would be in the back loop.
Wow, very beautiful colors!! ❤️
Could you please let me know the length of the chain made using 115 stitches. Thanks
You can find all info in my written pattern: wilmade.com/hooded-alpa-scarf/
I’m using 5.5 mm crochet hook. Plz advise on number of chains needed to start the hoodie
You need to measure 55 inches, mine was more than 115 foundation chains
may i know how many inches was scarf row one?
55 inches long
Bonjour explications en français merci
❤️❤️
Ik heb heel veel moeite met het aan elkaar naaien van de uiteindes. Het gaat veel te snel, waardoor ik niet zie in welke steken ik precies bezig moet zijn :(
😊😊😊😊
Best clear video yet. Thank yoy
❤❤❤❤❤
Mooi patroon weer Wilma, linkje van de wol werkt niet. Was benieuwd waar je dit gekocht had. Christel van Bag O Day heeft het vaak over dit merk
Dit garen komt uit Amerika en is volgens mij niet in Nederland te koop.
Thank you for the pattern but it's really hard to follow you. The written pattern isn't match what did you do.
