Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Ouch, my neck is a bit sore ... oh and my son blew away in the wind. Never mind your son, we need to give you an extendedable neck immediately. Why extendable? And how will I even get blood to my head that way? .... This isn't the time for questions!
Man-At-Arms: I decided to turn you into a human periscope. Congratulations! I will now call you - Mekaneck! Mekaneck: Thanks Man-At-Arms...you total jerk!
With all these backstory conflicts on Mekaneck (among other MOTU characters), this video has finally convinced me that Mattell & Filmation were brainstorming storylines with different teams of staff that very likely overlapped with some or most of the same people. I believe they released the characters (on film, comic, and action figures) at different times before going back to redraw the backstories resulting in the continuity conflicts. Just goes to show you that you can make it up as you go... Just like children. A real lesson in success here as well.. The full picture of your dream doesn't have to exist, but you do need to move forward with what you have and act.
And as a kid, I took Eternia to mean "Oh, this is a world where these countless stories between good and bad are playing out over generations, always looping with slight variations." The changes to character's origins never really bothered me because I thought that was the essence of Eternia....still do.
AWESOME. Thank you for a quality history on this cool character. I liked the Matty Collector Series, but in my opinion very over-priced. I think I will check out the DC Comics story about Mekaneck. Thank you again.
Thanks for watching the video! 😃👍 I’m currently editing lot of new ”Eternia Fact Files” videos, but rest assured I haven’t forgotten about CHARACTER ORIGIN -videos. ;)
Rickey Does It I need to completely re-edit it for TH-cam. Some files went missing when my computer crashed and the video that was on blip got deleted when their site made changes to its platform. But hoping to have it for 2020.
Jukka, I was glad to see this more recent ORIGINS video uploaded here on TH-cam. You know, this may be one of the few times I can say that I really prefer the back story offered in Mek's MotU Classics "Bio" most of all.
Can someone clear something up for me? I have a vague memory of mekaneck also having telescopic eyes in the original series, or am I confusing myself with some other character?
In the episode ”Disappearing Dragons”, Mekaneck spots Webstor and Kobra Khan from a distance. His viewscreen even isolates the two villains and their weapon.
Wait a minute - How can you just "replace" somebody's neck bionically ? - What about the jugular arteries that are essential to supply blood to the brain ??
as almost always in fiction, the original explanation is the best one, and deeper into the 2000s you get, the more asinine the explanation; this wouldnt be as much of a curse in writing, if the newer things werent almost always considered "canon"
I couldn't disagree more. Having a spy/infiltration expert is vital in a war. Mekaneck doesn't just have a telescopic neck, he also has enhanced vision, making him excellent for reconnaissance and spotting approaching enemy forces. He is a very underrated character.
I think they were running out of ideas at that point. That or they had a qouta and were having a hard time coming up with new ideas. I am kind of surprised there wasn't an evil opposite to him though. Seems to me, the easist origin for him would be for him to be a robot with a telescopicing neck so he can spy on enemies. Maybe throw in telescopic vision or something. I acatually have a robotic hero for my Mutants & Masterminds game who has a telescoping neck, waist, arms and legs.
Random Character: oh shoot I got a paper cut on my finger. Man at Arms: Guess who's getting a new Cybernetic arm.

Mekaneck is another classic He-man character i wish he had made a cameo in She-ra with other masters of the universe characters.

So Mekaneck was called Mekaneck.... BEFORE he had a mechanical neck. Good writing.

3:29 I'm guessing it was the C-2 vertebra that was crushed.
Ending song sort of reminds me of star wars but is short.I like the song plus the Mecakaneck origins thanks.
It's supposed to sound like the end score for the 1987 feature film.
Awesome. Great video. Hail He Man.
Mack you Think is eternia a mystical please with strange characters or a Island of Dr Moreau for Man at Arms science experiments
Great video! Did you ever post the Modulok one? (I know this is 5 years later, but still... lol)

Glad you like it. The many different origins on some of the characters is a fun opportunity to pick and choose our favourites. :)
Why did Mechaneck sound like a robot before he got his bionic neck?
I had this damn thing

0:13 - where are these other videos?
Who is the character "gear head" is based on from Rick and Morty?
Is it me or was there a character who he resembled?
I could have sworn...
Roboto
He looks less ridiculous in the 2002 series. Still ridiculous.
Interesting

cool
Why scelotor n traojaw's skin tone is blue
......a race of Eternians..
Perhaps he might be given an upgrade to give him extendable arms perhaps.
You mean like extendar
Hey great video ! We're u at power con 2018 this year ? Did I trade u a motu classics fisto ? :-)
Sadly I was not at Power-Con this year. Never been to USA. Though hope to go one day and meet other MOTU/POP fans. :)
blast attack? whaa
So it just he’s neck he can’t extend he leg or arms
Cameron Keith Well later in toyline they created EXTENDAR who could extend limbs
Total Mandela effect here. I could have sworn Mekaneck's son looked just like him with the same helmet and everything, just smaller 😅.
Any injury

Its weird how no one mentions how the original Mechaneck was almost as dark skinned as Clamp Champ!
I think it’s really Eddie spencer junior wearing a mask
Wait, did his son die?
No, he was found by Count Marzo. Who later used him as leverage against Mekaneck.
@@ToonJukka ah, thanks! Well, that explains why Count Marzo and Mekaneck's fight in the 2002 series.
He-Man's version of Plastic Man.
Semed very well researched which is great, bbut feel free to inject a little humor or personality into these profiles of pretty goofy characters.
C2? LOL. Neck jokes!
Lol, this guys special skill is so pointless!

He can uhh......look over medium sized walls? Woah
@@rocketcon as much as I joke about him I agree. He's a really interesting character and I think he deserves more credit.
what a dumb power lol
I remember buying Mekaneck as a kid and being so disappointed in him.
He was so corney
