RM has a new feature coming out on May 4th! The artist is Colde, who worked with RM on a few songs previously including a song on "Indigo". :) It's called "Don't ever say love me"
During his trainee days, Suga worked as a delivery man and one day during a delivery, he got hit by a vehicle which left him with a broken shoulder. He recalled suddenly seeing I believe the front tire right next to his head. But he couldn’t tell anybody at the company or even the group because he feared that he would get kicked out. So he told them that he just fell down the stairs and for so many years after, he had to suffer a broken shoulder; I think he mentioned recently that he always took pain medication every show because of it. He didn’t get surgery to fix his shoulder until late 2020-early 2021. Suga then said that he actually ended up telling the company at some point and they asked him why didn’t he tell them earlier, they could’ve helped him. If I’m getting some details incorrect, anyones free to correct me.
Yup, he told the company at some point before his BTS members, the members only knew the entire story when yoongi/SUGA was drunk on their after-concert dinner back in 2017.. when he is drunk he becomes talkative & hyper...
He would also have to take injections im every city they performed. Black swan performances made his shoulder gave out finally amd he had to do the surgery
I *think* I read that when Big Hit found out that he had been hiding the injury because he thought they would kick him out, and that he'd been working that extra job somehow in between school and training and producing, they created some kind of policy for their trainees that would help them pay for school? (I need to find that source.)
It wasn't broken, but he dislocated it and that tore his labrum and rotator cuff, I believe. He would do physical therapy and get cortisone shots when needed. When he told the company, they made him quit that job and paid for the rest of his university tuition. He said in an interview that deciding to get the surgery during the pandemic was one way he could regain a semblance of control while everything else was so out of their control.
Finally! Someone, who knows about the correlation between Amygdala and Hippocampus! The Amygdala is also called the "hot memory" it stores the memorys only on an emotional level. Therefore the Amygdala reacts before the consciousness even starts and acts on these emotional memories. The Hippocampus is also called the "cold memory" and stores the facts to the emotions, such as "when" "where" "what". If both come together, the amygdala is in the position to react properly after the initial scare, because it can sort the emotions to specific events. The brain of a traumatized person works different... The way between Amygdala and Hippocampus is blocked, so when the amygdala sends the signal to the hippocampus, that something is happening, the hippocampus can't be reached and the info comes back unedited and causes reactions, that aren't approciate in specific situations, because the amygdala can only work with the trauma memory, not with things, that actually happening right now. Mostly it ends in Panic attacks, Flasbacks etc. I think, the biggest trauma here is yoongis incident where he crushed his shoulder and had to fear, to lose everything he worked so hard for. Practically losing his life, because he feels like without his music he is nothing. Sadly there is no erasing of memories. The only way is, to work thru the traumas and sort them in correctly, emotionally (amygdala) and chronologically (hippocampus), to repair the way, the nerv cord between them both and let the past rest. Im not an english speaker, so i hope my writing is understandable...
My relationship with my mother ONLY triggers my trauma response. There will only ever be responded to that way. Instant fight or flight. I never chose it in the first place - I don't choose it now. It's a automatic and completely subconscious and definite full body/brain experience. It's awful. I wish it upon no one.
@@LaLayLaKwoumanaQino I know how that feels, fight, flight or freeze reflex. That has to do with the „old memory“. The brain isn’t able to link situations to the „new memory’s“ and make your body react. In a therapy lesson I learnt, that the brain should be able to repair this „blockade“ with working on figuring old memories out, but in reality I am 47 now and I am still waiting for things to not triggering me that way anymore and I am at the end of therapies… The brain is fascinating but also a very cruel thing…
Interesting bits about SUGA #1 There was a time when BTS was handed by their staff w/ their baby/childhood pictures & share something, Yoongi/SUGA's picture is when his family were on the beach. He shared that he nearly drowned and was saved by his father and he was so scared, so Jimin asked, "Is that the reason why you never dive in the water with us?" but Yoongi said, "No, I just don't feel like it.". BUT, I do think what Jimin said was right, he said he hates water, and it shows he has aversion to it tho he will still join some of BTS' water activities but not the extreme ones. Everytime trauma/fear is a topic, it's like an instinct to make water an example (also he said he can't watch horror movies, just an endearing info abt him, the Run BTS zombie & horror VR episodes will make you see it). Seeing yoongi not using a stuntman for the drowning scene in Haegeum makes me happy coz that means he's fine with water tho even tho he hates it. I'm sharing this because I see Yoongi as someone who can't let go of things easily... Yoongi can't let go of his fears, anger, grudge, regret easily just like how he holds on to things so much (he's both extreme both ways, light to dark w/c we can really see in his personality and music, (also his beats from school/predebut days w/c he made it into OT7 songs like for songs like Tomorrow, JUMP, etc. w/c he was the main producer & songwriter)... we saw him not long ago posting a selfie wearing his favorite grey beanie, fave FG T-shirt under his fave red plaid shirt w/c are all his clothes he often wear since years ago, and the tibetan dzi bead necklace his mother gave him before.. one of his many endearing traits is when he likes a piece of clothing or accessory he will wear it all the time for so long (currently, he has this cheetah print fur bucket hat) then will probably appear again in the future just like his other things... also ofc, BTS... there was an interview, Q: Dream? his answer, "being BTS for a long time", Q: BTS? his answer, "my entire life", Q: Future? his answer "BTS" ... his demeanor is often seen as "indifferent", "doesn't care" most of the time but he's one hell of a sentimental person..
You are so right. In the Suchwita episode with V he asks if V still has a necklace that they both had and V says, no, and Yoongi replies, I still have mine. I’m happy that he was able to have such a powerful closure to this chapter of his life. It feels like he is free to move on.
Having rehabbed many serious shoulder surgeries and injuries as a therapist I can say that they were the most painful cases of joint injury… really horrible pain. Suga would have suffered that type of pain from about 2012 til 2020…. And chronic pathways in the brain, unlike acute pain, reach into the amygdala causing mental suffering and depression.. Suga already had suffered depression and i can’t imagine the the mental state he would have been in… it is a testament to his strength and determination that he not only survived it but spent those years creating the music that he did….
He wanted a very personal song. His accident happened during trainee days. He lied at first but finally told the company. A few of the members had not idea until he later released The Last. He didn't have surgery until 2020. Both in Amygdala & The Last he mentions/hints mental health issues he experienced. Amygdala is mostly hints but in The Last it mentions his parents going with psychiatric ward with him & more. With his D-Day album it's worth watching or reading his interviews about it. "BTS saved me" isn't an exaggerated comment for some. They have a way of reaching people. These personal songs they (especially Suga) release really do help some people.
In his last concert when he sang this song, he ended up opening the door and saying goodbye to his fans because he is going to serve in the military for two years. that was a very emotional moment for all fans that support him.
A sign of victory - smiling and walking through that door was incredible. Those of us on the chat were going crazy! He’s opening and walking through the Amygdala Door!!!!
This is a great break down! Yoongi wrote this song during the making of one of their travel shows. He & Namjoon were reading a book “Almond” by Sohn Won-pyung. It is about a young man who has an under-developed amygdala. His mother feeds him almonds as an attempt to make his amygdala grow because it is almond shaped. Yoongi is eating almonds in the mv.
My take on the almonds. 1. Amygdala in latin means almond, in greek it was ἀμυγδάλη (amugdálē), as these two clusters of nuclei in the brain have the shape and size of almonds they were named amygdala. 2. in the book Almond the boy's mother gives him almonds to eat because she thought it would help him develop his amygdala, finally letting him feel things. 3. The Last - Agust D, here Yoongi mentions that he went to a psychiatrist back when he was around 18, he assisted with his parents, the doctor in that track asks "have you ever been (censored)?" (we infer that he refers to being su!cidal, or if he has thought of hurting himself or others, bcs if you have any experience with mental health professionals this is one of the first things they ask you), he says "I answer without any hesitation that I have". Once you say these words to a psychiatrist, they usually prescribe you medication. So the pills that you see in the MV are a reference to that. Now, why use the pills and almonds interchangably? Because while the almonds in "Almond" were used to try and make the boy feel something, pills are usually used to regulate your emotions and make you feel less, but also, as amygdala means almond, we can also take it to mean that Yoongi is consuming "amygdala" after "amygdala" trying to try and fix his own which is hyperactive. The song destroyed me, but the MV completely shattered me. I've had a rough life, Yoongi is the one who I relate to the most because of it, he, in some way or another, always manages to heal a part of me with every album, song he makes.
Yoongi had an accident while working (delivering food) while he was a trainee. He got hit and his shoulder was pretty messed up because of it. He never got it fully treated and even avoided telling bighit in fear of getting booted off the group. He only recently got surgery for it in 2020.
Seeing how Yoongi was becoming after his shoulder surgery and therapy, he slowly began to get brighter, bolder, and confident, proactively wanting to do many things contrary to the lethargic moments he had before... he's still a few-words, reserved kinda guy, and he still have his pretty laid-back demeanor like he used to before but you know you can tell & feel the difference in him... his fiery spirit before feels like it's a desperate fire blazing until it'll run out squeezing every bit of what he have, but now it's a blazing fire that continuously and passionately burns to do a lot of things... I'M VERY PROUD OF HIM... I hope he knows how much I'm grateful for his music and existence.
It's not a song it's his story....Yoongi is a genius...this song made me cry so hard, even without lyrics I felt emotional & after watching Mv with lyrics hitting really hard....I cried more after watching this MV....it's really painful to watch....that accident is his past accident, during his training day he worked as delivery boy & he faced an accident which injured his shoulder, he didn't tell anyone about this as he thought company will kick him out & after 9 years he get surgery. This whole MV showing his past , his depression, his anxiety, his suicidal thoughts, his pain , his accident everything....this song is enough to make me feel my own reflection...I can feel pain & emotions in my heart....
Can you explain me pls, i don't understand where it begin, like with the song (the last) and after with the mv in agust d, and then after with d2 when he did daechwita and then with heagum and amygdala.
@@rakix_san All of those Agust D (Old Album) songs are represting his dark past , his pain , his scar ....but in Amygdala - yoongi try to escaped but at last he failed so he accepted his pain & scar ....& in Heageum - U can see his scar was healing its mean yoongi is healing & after killing scar Suga ,he was happy bcz he is free from his pain.....
I can´t tell you how much I cried when I watched his video, as an ARMY but also as a person who deals with depression this one hit, and it hit hard. I was so shocked that Min Yoongi chose to share this with the world as real and rough as it is and still, manage to make it so beautifully. I've never felt so understood.
I’m right there with you. I showed this to people to help them understand the experience because words cannot. It also shows the pain and difficulty of the love ones who struggle to help. I’m hoping someone does an edit of this MV and Suga walking through the Amygdala door at the end of his concert tour. That is such a powerful ending to the story.
Can you explain me pls, i don't understand where it begin, like with the song (the last) and after with the mv in agust d, and then after with d2 when he did daechwita and then with heagum and amygdala.
he was dealing with these personal issues and as if that's not enough he was/is still dealing with racism and just so much hate. there are people literally making fun of him because he got emotional when he sang this song on stage. it's unbelievable how bts members manage to not let the hate change their personalities or their passion for music and making art. i have endless respect and love for them.
In reference to the door…on the last night of his tour, where the door stood at every concert, it opened and he walked through it. It was his way of signaling to Army and everyone that he’s moved passed his trauma, worked through it enough to be happy in his now and move forward. It was a beautiful moment 💜
Suga has talked about his shoulder injury in a few songs before and even the animation for the song "Bulletproof: The Eternal" has him clutching his left shoulder. He also talked about seeing a therapist in his teens about depression and anxiety so I'm pretty sure those pills are anti- depression/anxiety meds. As for his shoulder, it wasn't broken, but he dislocated it and that tore his labrum and rotator cuff, I believe. He would do physical therapy and get cortisone shots when needed. When he told the company, they made him quit that job and paid for the rest of his university tuition. He said in an interview that deciding to get the surgery during the pandemic was one way he could regain a semblance of control while everything else was so out of their control. He has also said that if you ever see videos of him in live shows where he's holding the mic in his right hand, it's because his left should was hurting too much to hold it in his left.
This was a good summary of his shoulder injury! And also to imagine that near the end before the surgery he could barely raise his left shoulder nor hold a bottle of cider (the chilsung (spelling?) cider commercial). I am certain his right shoulder (and both shoulder blades that he keeps stretching all the time) is also affected to a certain degree, he keeps stretching and massaging that one too (even to this day).
I’ve been so excited for your reaction to this, because I knew you’d get the layered meaning & artistry in both the song and the MV, and as ever you did not disappoint! This is my favorite song from D-Day and my favorite MV because it is so raw and honest and moving. Every time I hear (and see) it, I’m struck again by how Yoongi’s vulnerability is his strength, and his willingness to expose these traumas and share these private moments with us is so special, not only because it allows us to connect with him as a human being (rather than posing him as a polished, perfect, remote superstar) but it also comforts and reassures us that we are not alone in our trauma and pain, he’s right here with us in the darkness, seeking the light together, working towards healing while acknowledging that the scars will be with us forever. Thank you for your thoughtful analysis and support for bangtan! 💜
I just know that this man used to kill his English essays because what on earth is with his superior articulation of understanding suga’s art. That’s insane 🔥🔥
This MV was just so raw and powerful, the lyrics are so full of raw emotion which I can partly relate to. And I just love Yoongis acting also there were bits that made me cry and get emotional. I can relate to it on such a personal level too as I no exactly what he is saying in this MV and song as I've been thru all that. He also said F**k to trigger warnings aswell (which this mv triggered me so much but yet Yoongis voice comforted me in a way only I can understand) Also I could relate so much to the lyrics and message in the song as I suffer from bad depression and I know exactly how he feels as yoongi is the one I can relate to the most
he is amazing. vulnerable. smart. talented. emotional. mixing captivating melody with what he wants to say. but also being brave to create sounds and talk about things that not everyone will like or connect to. he doesn't need that. he just does what he wants.
Just realised something. In daechwita he says ‘I ain’t no weak pill popper like you’ and throughout the trilogy he plays two different characters. In this mv, he’s the one popping pills. So in the daechwita music video when we all thought he was roasting rappers and the haters, he was actually judging his own past actions😭
I said this on a couple of my favourite reactors to this song. Physical trauma stays with you in unexpected ways. The thing about injuries to the point where you need surgery and physio You never stop needing some sort of physio or pain meds. At least to some degree I've had knee surgery, dislocated shoulders, and torn ligaments. The pain comes and goes, and often, it comes in waves. I still need painkillers every so often, especially in weather changes or if I've been over working or in bed rest. I still need to go to the pool to do low impact stretches and strength training I still need to do stretches before bed I might not need these things every day, even after years. But its still there, and often times People think, "Oh well, they had surgery, they did physio they're all better" It's not that easy. I can't get the Cartilage back in my knees that I've lost. So yeah, my bones mended my ligaments healed, but my knees grind together closer and closer every day. Eventually, I'll need to rely on cortisol injections, and eventually, I'll need knee surgery all over again. That will bring more pain meds and more intense physio. It's something I'm going to live with my entire life and I'm only 32. My initial injury happened at 14. I'll always live with the physical trauma. I had a metal plate in my knee for a year. I was told I had ro stop playing sports. I run for Even a minute my knee throbs for day's I bike for 30 mins my knee is unstable for weeks. Sonetimes you loose out on things. I still had to work 6 days a week years ago before I got to where I am now, cause life doesn't stop just cause you're in pain From the ages of 15-27, I lived off of extra strength advil and tylenol and adrenaline. You either take 4 extra strength advil 2 times a day and work, or you couldn't pay bills. I either wore a tensor on my knee under my jeans so no one saw it and took advil, or I missed out on activities with friends. It was an endless cycle of pain management and survival and just not giving up on life. Like yoongi, I'm in a much better place now. Better family doctor Loving support system A husband who cares enough that he doesn't mind me making a little less and him covering more if it means I'm not working 6 days straight and not taking pain meds as much. Emotional and mental trauma stick with you too and having a bi polar mom and a functional alcoholic dad. I had plenty of this, too, but I wanted to highlight my struggle with physical pain over the years. Yoongi was always so intimate with his lyrics, and often performers know just how much the dancing and the travelling takes a toll on the body. Besides his physical injuries, BTS songs always helped. I feel like I connected with suga even early on as once a trauma surviver, always a surviver, and sometimes you just know. You look into someone's eyes, and you just know... Thanks knox you always understand everything so deeply. Big hug all Army Let's continue to heal and love and support each other. Sorry for such a long comment.
I just wanted to send some hugs--my mom has schizophrenia, so I know how much a parent's mental illness impacts your childhood and sticks with you through your adult life.
Thank you for sharing your personal view on your physical trauma and how that can affect you mentally.... my husband has joint issues as well and has to do physical therapy. Seeing how much discomfort he is in without fully understanding what he is going through, I will try to be more supportive and kinder towards him and his ongoing healing. Borahae 💜💜
@babysnuggslm that's amazing that you are supportive. Chronic pain especially 'invisible ' pain can be hard for people to understand. Though everyday is a new day. My husband sometimes joins me in the pool for physical therapy even if he's perfectly healthy. Though the company is really nice and makes me feel less lonely. I'm not saying you can do this. But maybe find something that fits you both do you can be with him during tough days. :) Good luck ! You're an amazing person and wife ! Borahae💜🙌💜
Your reactions are always spot on. Just a little context the other SUGA is eating Almonds!! The Amygdala in your brain is almond shaped!! Also, he read a book called Almond based on a man that was born with an undeveloped Amygdala and has issues processing emotions! This gave him some more help with making this song and MV
Amazing!! You should check out his recent concert clips. The whole thought behind it is so creative just like his mvs. He gets carried on and off like removing the limp Agust D bodies (removing some of his selfs). Even the stage design is so clever! It slowly gets taken away piece by piece until by the last song (his most personal song) he’s in the middle with just the lights and more or less no stage left. Man is a legend!
Your level of perception is always amazing me. Yoongi seems to have written this in 2020 while being filmed for In The Soop. He and RM were reading a book by Wonpyung Sohn called Almond in which the main character Yunjae has alexithymia , a condition affecting the amydala which can effect your ability to name or distinguish your emotions . You are brilliant at this! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for pointing out details that I missed, that really help explain how Yoongi gets the effects he does--the sound layering, the transitions, even why he's using autotune. It helped me understand the video much better.
I'm watching this immediately once I received the notification. This is what I'm waiting for. The only reaction I'd like to watch. Thanks again Knox. Always support you too!
This song/ MV is everything. I think there are some darker tones embedded when he is considering first best choice, second best choice, third best choice. Options, of how to get out. I think the door opening with the white light is far more sinister than it appears. I think it represents one of the choices, that could have freed him, but thankfully he survived, albeit remained trapped. I also think living with chronic pain (or PTSD) would be difficult, and one would want to go back to being their past-self (pre-trauma) but while it would be the best option, potentially resulting in the best outcome - it's just not possible. So instead of thinking that way, accepting and self-love (the line about the lotus flower) may bring about healing. But, the scar is permanent. Cannot be erased, only managed. I find it both disturbing and inspiring that YoonGi literally replayed his trauma and shot it as it happened for the MV. There're therapy forms it reminds me of - psychodrama and Hellinger's Family Constellations but usually the person of interest would be an observer, while another person would be taking their role in a reenactment of the traumatic event. So from the outside, they may gain a different perspective. Also, through the insight of the other person who's been put in their shoe. I just hope Suga had mental support on board while shooting this. The lengths this man goes to for ARMY, tho! He deserves every respect as an artist and performer.
Thanks for making such an intelligent video! Best one ive seen so far - you actually paid attention! Also first one i have seen say anything about the Yoongi wearing green.
To the scar: It was a mystery why Agust d had this scar. In haegeum(2023) Amygdala(2023) and in Daechwita (2018) Agust d always had this scar. Meanwhile suga/Yoongi (how replace the „good one „ ) didn’t have this scar. Fans were always wondering why he has this scar. I think that it represents the dark side of him. That the depressed/“bad“ version of him will forever be present .So that even if it’s healing it will never completely go away (like a scar )and sometimes memories just hit you. Thats my Opinion. Ps:love your reaction
Hi!! Thank you so much for reacting to this, I’ve been looking forward to it!! It’s my birthday as well so I really appreciate it and I can’t wait to watch the reaction!! Your reactions are the best and I love how you break down the songs and music videos!! ❤️😁
You’re so damn good at this! Yeah the accident was genuine back when they were trainees, he was working part time to help with living costs as obviously the company didn’t have much money. And he got hit by a vehicle which fckd his shoulder. He left it for too long to get sorted so only really got the proper surgery a couple of years ago. Always grateful with how much he shares. Shame the translations don’t quite display the nuances to his words but the gist is there.
honestly Amygdala shattered my heart. it almost seemed like a mirror image. stuck in a loop of your past traumas, living through them everyday, repeating every detail of what could you do to do the right thing or to save yourself, harming your self, fighting a battle against your own self; it was too relatable. for years i kept doing this and watching him being stuck like that made my heart hurt badly. how helpless we feel in such moments, watching ourselves suffering but unable to find a relief. I've always counted on Yoongi to say what needs to be said without any fear and he never disappoints. he brings me so much comfort, even though this MV is a hard watch, i still find comfort in it, now then he's free from all this. hope we all find our peace too
Yes this MV a hard watch. When he crawling uphill, towards the door, I can't breathe. Leave it to yoongi to face the tough issues. He always has. And it helps. We can't move past pain if we don't look at it. Honestly once I look at my shit, and start taking steps to deal, it not so bad. Getting started is the hardest part. 🙏 💜
I found you through my Ren rabbit hole but I have been an ARMY since 2016 and was honestly pleasantly surprised to see you’ve been reacting to them for so long. Especially Agust D. This song means so much to me and I will forever be grateful to Yoongi for creating it. As someone with CPTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder due to a life filled with pretty much non stop trauma since early childhood, it is one of the few songs that makes me feel understood by at least one person in this world even if he doesn’t I exist. This song is truly a gift to someone like me who sadly is disabled due to my trauma and what it has done to my brain over time. I rarely comment on here but just felt compelled to say something.
I have been eagerly waiting for your reaction. This is my favorite song on the album, and you gave me a stronger appreciation for how that sound was created and how it made that atmosphere. The MV is hard to watch but it's so good, and I have the audio on repeat rn. Thank you for how in depth you go. It's why you're my favorite reactor!
I'm so happy you reacted to this. I havent been able to rewatch the music video myself since I watched it the first time, it really hit hard. The accident is a real thing that happened in 2012, right before BTS had their debut, he was working a part-time job as a delivery boy and was hit by a car and hurt his shoulder. He was afraid of telling anyone what had happened, in case it would affect the debut, so he just said he had fallen down some stairs and hurt his shoulder a little. He would continue to perform and dance with a hurt shoulder, only getting minor treatments for it, until he finally got major surgery in 2020.
I absolutely love your analysis and breakdown! It takes so much knowledge and emotional intelligence to understand this level of symbolism and you did! 💜
Your reactions are always thought provoking. This song is meaningful, and painful, for ARMY and Suga. Thank you for you honest, and respectful, reaction. ARMY appreciates how much respect you show the members.
My long time companion pet of 10 years just died in arms today and I am absolutely broken. Can’t tell you how much I needed this distraction even if for 15 minutes. Thank you so much Knox 💜
I don't know much about music and you are the first reactor who i just understand when you break down music concepts. Really a joy to watch your content and I want to listen to your music, i feel like i would enjoy it.
There should b a button for superlike on your channel. I always wait for your reaction on Bts songs. Your analysis is always cool and insightful...plus your explanation on the musical technicalities is also very knowledgable. And the most important part i love about your reaction is that you are empathatic towards them and show your support and it seems genuine to me. I admire the fact that you dont go ga-ga or go hysterical or show the same hyped up reaction for all music. Thank u 💜. I wish there were more honest and knowledgable reactors like you.
Hope you check out August D concerts from this week. He killed it. Truly amazing acoustic versions and really hyped crowds. The the live version of this one is so great.
This was amazing! Your interpretation added to mine. It seem that it's only ever a version of Agust D that has this facial scar, though on some versions of him it seems a more healed wound (representing him destroying other versions of himself??). So I go from the rebel in Daechwita killed the blonde king who was most likely Agust D from his first mixtape - angry, maybe a little obsessed with success, definitely ambitious. Then in Haegeum I think the police officer is the rebel at a later date (alternate universe even), corrupted by capitalism or power? He is killed by a rebel again (could just be Min Yoongi) in the Haegeum mv but the police officer laughs before being shot, almost like "you can never kill me". Then you have the birth of Agust D in Amygdala but Suga has said many times that Suga/Agust D/Yoongi are all him regardless of how they come across. I find this a painful mv to watch, it resonates with me in some ways that I find difficult but I admire him so much for being so upfront and giving us a glimpse of things behind the scenes. He doesn't have to get that personal but it must help so many that he does. All his D-Day interviews and lives have been incredible! They will be live streaming one of the concerts in June so maybe you can tune in if you want to Knox
Holy 🔥 I knew this piece of artistic story-telling song had a hold of me; I wasn't able to articulate why. Your analysis went deep & I am appreciative beyond words. Some memories are life changing, but they don't have to take over. All we have is the present. Let's make this particular moment, right now, OK. Things are OK. 💜 BTS is a phenomenon for MANY reasons. Thank you, Knox for giving me a better understanding 🙏
Remember this is the BTS member that hid in the bathroom 1 night before the concert cuz of panic attacks performing in front of crowds and the fact he's the 1st one doing a world tour.😭😭 ARMY helping Min Yoongi's dreams come true. ARMY already told you about the bike accident
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. I was finally able to cry for him at last in Anitra's reaction. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 I Purple Jimin 💜said on 4/25/23 People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues. Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23 I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point. The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world.
Knox, I truly appreciate you for thoughtfully and beautifully breaking down the meaning and artistic portrayal in this masterpiece. Your reaction resonated with me deeply, and I’m now a fan. Thank you!
That accident affected him as a person and a performer for so many years. That's why he keeps going back to it. To be honest I'm not even sure which part about his accident makes me the saddest. The accident itself. The pain he dealt with trying to hide it all those years. Not being able to have support from his parents during that time. Thank God he's still here. Thank God for his fellow BTS member who prevented his suicide when all this became too much. Much respect for all of them.
10:00 the pills (mints in the MV lol) were painkillers, he took them for his shoulder injury after the accident (it happened on a rainy day), but also thinking he wouldn't feel pain from all the other stuff I guess. He did a live or in some content he mentioned this about the medicine, he had also injections to keep going, until in 2020 he finally had his shoulder surgery done! And was 3-4 months away from BTS schedules but everything was so wholesome.
I can never move on from the feeling of being caged that YOONGI expressed so beautifully in this Song. I've cried so many times with BTS music but amygdala hits home.
Thank you for your reaction to this. mv. It is a song that is sad, but we all suffer from some kind of trauma and this really makes him more relatable to a lot of us. It has really made me realize how much I re-live my own memories and the constant struggle to want to suppress them. But really we need to face them, acknowledge them, and accept them. It is a part of who we are.
Just to try and tempt haha...his album talks a lot about his disdain for corrupt media, journalism and the extreme polarisation between left and right. Plus some hits on higher entities in power in general which reminds me a lot of the topics you approach in some of your songs. Then the other half of the album focusses on mental health and human relationships/connections. It's so good and I think you would have a lot to say from a lyrical aspect. He's experimented with some drill beats too and as a fan of hard UK drill music, I thought that was dope!
Really enjoyed your reactions. I like how you comment on the mix and production as well as the lyrics. I really get more insight than I did listening and watching it on my own.
Yoongi talks about “I don’t know your name” is his internal dialogue that keeps bringing back to traumatic events he doesn’t want to remember…it’s a “who are you to keep bringing up my trauma, I don’t even know who you are”
You are my favorite reactor. Your knowledge in so many areas and your philosophical approach are always so interesting. Suga was in an accident as a delivery guy and was going to quit because of financial and medical bills. Even though the agency was in a financial bind themselves they took care of his medical bills. Finally had shoulder surgery during pandemic. He also has been through a lot of therapy for PTSD and depression issues including attempting suicide. His music often reflects his vulnerability and introspection. He is very open about mental health and has given many people hope to recover from life's traumas.
You have completely changed the way I listen to music. It’s incredible like a whole new world has opened up for me. Ty dude. Will you be breaking down other songs from his album? I recommend Huh, Polar Night and Snooze 🙏🏾
The thing I love about Agust D/Suga/Min Yoongi is his courage in tackling tough subjects like this. It’s the stuff that a surprising number of people need to process, but too many don’t know how to find the courage to face the pain and wait out the darkness. There’s a particular place in my heart for this young man. His brothers are there too, but in their own spots. I’m one who is proud to say “I love them all, no favourite here”
Thank you so much - I very much enjoy your analyses - they always have depth and bring something new for consideration. The album in its entirety is just beautiful, haunting, raw and introspective. Looking forward to hearing your views on the rest of it
When they were filming In The Soop he had a trailer that he worked in. He was talking with one of the other members, I think it was Jimin, he said the song he was working on ,which was this. He said he started it about four years before but he can’t work on it very long before he has to get away from it. I’m so happy he made it thru this song and it is so beautiful. 💜💜💜

I thought he had a dislocated shoulder that healed all messed up? I think I might be wrong too
I *think* I read that when Big Hit found out that he had been hiding the injury because he thought they would kick him out, and that he'd been working that extra job somehow in between school and training and producing, they created some kind of policy for their trainees that would help them pay for school? (I need to find that source.)
It wasn't broken, but he dislocated it and that tore his labrum and rotator cuff, I believe. He would do physical therapy and get cortisone shots when needed. When he told the company, they made him quit that job and paid for the rest of his university tuition. He said in an interview that deciding to get the surgery during the pandemic was one way he could regain a semblance of control while everything else was so out of their control.
Thank you so much for this one, Knox... Army will never forget your hugs and your open mind to talk about mental health!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well army should be also open minded
Hear hear!!
That was a great explanation. The brain is an amazing organ, for sure; thank you for the breakdown.
In a therapy lesson I learnt, that the brain should be able to repair this „blockade“ with working on figuring old memories out, but in reality I am 47 now and I am still waiting for things to not triggering me that way anymore and I am at the end of therapies…
The brain is fascinating but also a very cruel thing…
Interesting bits about SUGA #1
There was a time when BTS was handed by their staff w/ their baby/childhood pictures & share something, Yoongi/SUGA's picture is when his family were on the beach.
I've had a rough life, Yoongi is the one who I relate to the most because of it, he, in some way or another, always manages to heal a part of me with every album, song he makes.
not to undermine your take but if you’re interested in the making of this mv there is a behind the scenes in bangtantv
@@priiifrg i know, I've seen it. This is my interpretation of the mv.

I’m amazed how Suga can tell such a deep rooted personal story in under 4 minutes. He’s truly a master at his craft!
For long term fans, this one hits differently and way more emotionally. Your points are amazing as always too!
It’s so profound how it’s the younger him (before suffering the accident) is trying to set the older him free. I get chills every time I see it.
Honestly I've loved being part of Yoongi's journey from when he started to now I feel really proud of all that his done and become❤
People made fun of him for getting emotional performing this?? Where did you see/read that? That’s awful!!! 😠
@@pmf15 That's what I was thinking who on earth would do that. I'm shocked.
He also said F**k to trigger warnings aswell (which this mv triggered me so much but yet Yoongis voice comforted me in a way only I can understand)
Also I could relate so much to the lyrics and message in the song as I suffer from bad depression and I know exactly how he feels as yoongi is the one I can relate to the most
he is amazing. vulnerable. smart. talented. emotional. mixing captivating melody with what he wants to say. but also being brave to create sounds and talk about things that not everyone will like or connect to. he doesn't need that. he just does what he wants.
What an observation! Never thought of that
Another utuber said where he is crawling and the angles switch it shows how hard the struggle is getting by him getting lower.
I said this on a couple of my favourite reactors to this song.
Physical trauma stays with you in unexpected ways.
The thing about injuries to the point where you need surgery and physio
You never stop needing some sort of physio or pain meds.
At least to some degree
I've had knee surgery, dislocated shoulders, and torn ligaments.
The pain comes and goes, and often, it comes in waves.
I still need painkillers every so often, especially in weather changes or if I've been over working or in bed rest.
I still need to go to the pool to do low impact stretches and strength training
I still need to do stretches before bed
I might not need these things every day, even after years.
But its still there, and often times People think, "Oh well, they had surgery, they did physio they're all better"
It's not that easy.
I run for Even a minute my knee throbs for day's
I bike for 30 mins my knee is unstable for weeks.
Sonetimes you loose out on things.
I still had to work 6 days a week years ago before I got to where I am now, cause life doesn't stop just cause you're in pain
From the ages of 15-27, I lived off of extra strength advil and tylenol and adrenaline.
Better family doctor
Loving support system
A husband who cares enough that he doesn't mind me making a little less and him covering more if it means I'm not working 6 days straight and not taking pain meds as much.
Big hug all Army
Let's continue to heal and love and support each other.
Sorry for such a long comment.
I just wanted to send some hugs--my mom has schizophrenia, so I know how much a parent's mental illness impacts your childhood and sticks with you through your adult life.
@Becky Morse hugs back, my friend.💜
Good luck !
Suga got out for the door🥺🫶🏻 on the last day of his tour💜 btw you are so intelligent and i love how you analyse and interpret everything🤌🏼 it’s crazy
The fact that he ended up walking through the door at his last concert makes me teary every time. 💜
Please do a live with the whole album! Your mind on Agust D is so enriching!
Thank you for pointing out details that I missed, that really help explain how Yoongi gets the effects he does--the sound layering, the transitions, even why he's using autotune. It helped me understand the video much better.
This is one song that I just cannot get out of my head, nor do I want to. Genius Yoongi! Thank you for your precise, very well done reaction!
Waiting for your reaction to this because you can make it real good meaning to it. Keep the good job bravo
I'm watching this immediately once I received the notification. This is what I'm waiting for. The only reaction I'd like to watch. Thanks again Knox. Always support you too!
Finally after waiting for days love knox and agustd
To the scar:
It was a mystery why Agust d had this scar.
🎂🎉 💜
You’re so damn good at this! Yeah the accident was genuine back when they were trainees, he was working part time to help with living costs as obviously the company didn’t have much money. And he got hit by a vehicle which fckd his shoulder. He left it for too long to get sorted so only really got the proper surgery a couple of years ago. Always grateful with how much he shares. Shame the translations don’t quite display the nuances to his words but the gist is there.
I really love your reactions to BTS.....cuz they always have a meaning to their lyrics.... Suga is so brave to talk about his past struggles!
You are very smart for understanding all these deep meanings of the song!!!
honestly Amygdala shattered my heart. it almost seemed like a mirror image. stuck in a loop of your past traumas, living through them everyday, repeating every detail of what could you do to do the right thing or to save yourself, harming your self, fighting a battle against your own self; it was too relatable. for years i kept doing this and watching him being stuck like that made my heart hurt badly. how helpless we feel in such moments, watching ourselves suffering but unable to find a relief.
I just can't handle my emotion of this MV the true stories of Suga
I have been eagerly waiting for your reaction. This is my favorite song on the album, and you gave me a stronger appreciation for how that sound was created and how it made that atmosphere. The MV is hard to watch but it's so good, and I have the audio on repeat rn. Thank you for how in depth you go. It's why you're my favorite reactor!
Knox you are always on point with your explanations. This is hard for me to watch. I always look forward to your reaction. Thank you again.
Great reaction, I waited for it and I'm pleased as always!
Finally, thanks Knox! After watching Amygdala for the first time, I was waiting for your reaction. 👍
I absolutely love your analysis and breakdown! It takes so much knowledge and emotional intelligence to understand this level of symbolism and you did! 💜
Thank you so much Knox! Knew you’d add something totally new to the picture. Hope you can check out the album too! Appreciate you 🔥
Your reactions are always thought provoking. This song is meaningful, and painful, for ARMY and Suga. Thank you for you honest, and respectful, reaction. ARMY appreciates how much respect you show the members.
YES I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE
My long time companion pet of 10 years just died in arms today and I am absolutely broken. Can’t tell you how much I needed this distraction even if for 15 minutes. Thank you so much Knox 💜
So sorry for your loss 😪💜
So sorry for your loss 😢 💕💕💕🌈🌉
My sincere condolences for the loss of your beautiful pet. Sending hugs x💜
Suga 😢😭😭😭😭💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I was waiting for this
I don't know much about music and you are the first reactor who i just understand when you break down music concepts. Really a joy to watch your content and I want to listen to your music, i feel like i would enjoy it.
You’re the best Knox. You’ve always been my go to and always will be!
This is not a reaction, this is a whole complete analysis. I really like how you have an eye and ear to all details! Thank you. Subscribed.
Thank you so so much! You have so much knowledge! I think you’ll love the lyrics to Snooze and Polar Night too 😊
Thank you so much for this reaction, Knox 💜
Holy 🔥
I knew this piece of artistic story-telling song had a hold of me; I wasn't able to articulate why.
It's not about amygdala but the way you instantly counted in Spanish, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 😂
Finally, 🎉
like always you are the best 👌
Suga the genius 💜 and knox the genius 💙🔥
Been waiting for your reaction to this and I was not disappointed
Another one knocked out of the park! The detail you put into your breakdowns is wonderful. Thank you Knox!
Tbh you are one of the great music interpretator iv'e ever seen... I love how you introspect things knox.. Long way to go 💜
Remember this is the BTS member that hid in the bathroom 1 night before the concert cuz of panic attacks performing in front of crowds and the fact he's the 1st one doing a world tour.😭😭 ARMY helping Min Yoongi's dreams come true.
Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟

People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala.

I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years.
And was 3-4 months away from BTS schedules but everything was so wholesome.
love so much how smart you are. Adds so much to the video. Hands down, the best.
Finally!!!!! Been waiting for ur reaction!!!
beautiful, spot on critique as usual! ❤
Yoongi talks about “I don’t know your name” is his internal dialogue that keeps bringing back to traumatic events he doesn’t want to remember…it’s a “who are you to keep bringing up my trauma, I don’t even know who you are”
always a pleasure to watch your reactions and your interpretations. you never miss a detail !
He is very open about mental health and has given many people hope to recover from life's traumas.
thank you! ahh i always wait for your breakdown. simply the best! 💜
Looking forward to hearing your views on the rest of it
i love your reactions you go through the lyrics the production the visuals the messages everything in such detail i love it
Your interpretation and analysis are always on point. 💜🎶
This was such a thoughtful analysis. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Agust D! 💜
Heyyyyy dude I listen to you on Spotify!!!
Such a devastatingly beautiful video. And so brave of him to share all of this with us.
