I really love that painting of the green dragon that you painted with the moon on a black canvas i and you made it look so easy but I'm strictly love the green colors
I painted this for my son for Christmas. I didn't have spray paint, so I used blending mops and painted several very thin, transparent layers. It came out well, considering. I plan to paint a purple one for my DIL, who is into D&D.
I've collect dragons for years and yes, I too am obsessed with Game of thrones. I may have to give a try on this!! Thanks for sharing this!! Lovely painting!! I want to be able to paint on like that. I can draw one a bit, I'm sure I can to a painting...right? lol Oh, well no harm in trying! Thanks Karen!!!
I just watched this from your recently added list, at AAS. That's fantastic to have them all together in my quick access KC icon/widget/whatever it's called.... The ONLY drawback is, I can't comment under those??! For which, I'm sure, YOU are probably grateful. Pesky ME cannot cope with THAT! I HAVE to say something (of course you know this by now, I am guessing. Rofl😂) Hahaha, funny thing is now that I am FINALLY at comment for video, I've filled about 3 books!!!😲 Oopsie. Oh Good Golly Miss Molly, your Dragon is Absolutely, Stonkingly FABULOUS! I do run out of superlatives to say how talented you are. To create such perfection & realism, the shadows, highlights, expression on face with a white pop into eyes, the colours, twirled tail. I haven't even mentioned the moon! All with acrylics & a brush?? Seriously? See, there is ONE good thing about my yap yap yapping ~ You are left in NO doubt, as to how ruddy cool I think your art is. Yay!!!! Leaving now. I know you are saying "Phew" right now. That's ok. Enjoy remaining holiday with your boys & 2 adorable girls. Squidges. Bye-eeee😹👋👋
I LOVE your yap yap yapping girl, please don't ever be sorry!!!!! Oh yes, about the comments, all those videos are embedded into the site so it behaves a bit differently there then the other videos/classrooms but this is a perfect place to be blabby!!! Hopefully it wasn't too much trouble!! You're just the best with all your love, just know I totally appreciate every last word!! BACKATCHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Mieke Middelhuis thank you! I cannot take credit for the idea but I will for the execution, fair is fair! Thanks so much for watching, appreciate the kind words!
Karen Campbell, Artist Please don't take this the wrong way because I watch you all the time and you're one of me favourite artists to watch here on TH-cam, but I'm just curious if you asked the artist's permission to recreate her piece? Because I too once did the same and I received such backlash for it. I didn't take credit for the idea and I posted who the artist was and everything same as you. The original artist told me it was never okay to reproduce another artist's work, even if I put me own spin on it and did it in a different medium. She said just because you change the colours and medium doesn't mean anything. She said it's still copying and it's not okay unless you get permission from the artist, and that crediting them was not enough. I wasn't selling the piece or anything either. I was just doing it for fun. Needless to say I took the post down. You mentioned in your comment that fair was fair, so I was just wondering your thoughts on it all. Loads of love n such. x
Lori Davis that is a very legit point. In my heart of hearts I think it is truly ok to recreate someone's work if the intention is to practice ONLY. I think it would be really dishonest and illegal to copy (even if it was in a different medium with different colors) with intent to sell. As artists we practice to hone our skills! And we practice drawing and painting what we see in the world around us. I think that is always why I am 100% transparent if I copy someone's work or use theirs as inspiration to say, "This original idea is not my own I am using it for practice and inspiration and the artist is ____________." People have been copying the masters for 100s of years and no one gets upset because it is widely understood the academic value in practising to learn. I think this is no different. If, however, an artist has been credited and they are very upset DESPITE having been properly credited then I guess the polite thing would be to take down the post or video or whatnot. I would do the same. Now THAT being said, if someone credits me and copies my work (which happens all the time because I am a teacher and the whole purpose of my work is to teach and not to sell) I am totally flattered!!!!! So the main thing is perspective, I suppose. But is it illegal or wrong to copy someone's style for practice? I don't think so. But out of respect for humans and their complicated feelings, I do get it (although I don't personally feel that way).
Loved your video. I love dragons so much, painted a purple one yesterday. I've seen the Dragon Moon painting on Pinterest by retired artist Jessica Galbreth. It pops up on my account a lot/I wonder if that one is the one you're referring to.
Really cool, funky painting! When you started spraying your paints, did you know you were going to paint the Dragon Moon? I loved how the spray paint background turned out. It was a fun video. Thanks. -Marsha from Texas
mmonr thank you!! Yes, I did know. I was working from a reference (a digital painting) so I knew kinda where I needed to go with the background. That is also why I traces my moon first, so that I could spray the lighter areas strategically.
Janneke Bruines you know, I do too. I have this hanging still in my studio and I totally still love it. I'll do one in real time, maybe in a few weeks and post it on AwesomeArtSchool.com in my free monthly course listings. You should check those out too, theres loads in there and it's all free and all real time videos.
hahahaha nooooooooooooooo don't do it Jon Snow!!!!! I just got your question about my new book, it will be ready (on Amazon) by the end of the week. I get the final proof (hardcopy) tomorrow and then it will be released as soon as it is 1000% done. ANY DAY! Thanks for your patience, so sorry for the wait!
Oooh. I kept looking the last few days at Amazon and Etsy but I didn't see it..thought it was sold out...or it was there and I was losing it..lol. Can't wait :) :)
OMGosh the process is mind bendingly slow (actually, to be fair, as a self-publisher it's actually super fast - but having the patience of a 5 year old it seeeeeeeeeems like it is mind bendingly slow!!!!).
The dragon is fantastic. Very magical. I love dragons. Of course they’re real ❤️❤️ 🐉
Thanks Gaynor! I love dragons too!
