What a life! The first President that I can remember. One of the rarest kinds of people that exist on the planet: a great statesman and at the same time an admirable human being almost a saint. I'm German. Greetings from Peru.

President Carter has long been my favorite president who lived during my lifetime. If ever there was one that truly was a follower of Jesus and lived the life as Jesus taught us to, it was Jimmy Carter. How I long for such servant leadership, integrity, honesty, compassion, and advocacy of truth telling that leads to peace today. I hope the messages being delivered today touch hearts and minds--a fitting tribute to a deserving man.

I think it would have been more reverent if the CBS commentators had allowed their audience to hear the music of the choir and orchestra instead of talking over the performance. Their chatter stole the emotions and heart felt experience one so deeply is in need of. Consider keeping quite at the next one.

Pres. Jimmy Carter was a true world leader and started the ball rolling to finally bring Apartheid to an end by instituting an arms embargo against the Apartheid South African government. As a young South African he brought a glimmer of hope to this part of the world.

Shame on CBS reporters for talking over the choir and through the respectful silences. It really detracted from the lovely ceremony for a lovely human.

RIP President Carter. In according to one Buddhist tradition you are now living happily ever after in Pureland without reincarnation. You are my hero because of your administration immigration policy i and my young brother could immigrate to USA from Indonesia refugee camp in 1979. I was a boat people from Vietnam and lucky to be alive crossing Pacific ocean in small fishing boat to Indonesia in 1978

    Fantastic tribute to #39!
Disappointed CBS had to talk over some of the music and make some of their comments political at a time that they should be paying tribute to deceased.

Almost all of our former presidents are such courteous, respectful, gentlemen. And then there is Trump, nothing but a schoolyard bully. As a lifelong Republican it pains me to have to admit that.

    Rest in Peace President Carter.🙏🏽🕊️🇺🇸
President Carter was the first president that I voted for in the 1976 Presidential elections.
I registered to vote as soon as I turned 18 years old in 1974.
I cried when President Carter didn’t win the vote for reelection.
President Carter is a man that I have respected and admired for all these decades.
I can’t speak of him in the past tense yet.
President and Mrs. Carter were such exemplary human beings, people of faith.
I am a person of faith as well.
God bless you President Carter for all you did to serve not just America but the world.🇺🇸

To echo President Carter's admonition years ago to newswoman Lesley Stahl, then covering one of his Plains, GA, Sunday sermons during his presidency but today directed to Donald Trump regarding the themes and messages of this inspiring national event he attended with every other living former president: "I hope you got something out of this."

The longest living person in the Bible - Methuselah's name meant "When he dies it will come." The "it" refering to the flood of Noah. I wonder if there is a parallel with the longevity and passing of Pres. Jimmy Carter - A warning.

I was living during that time. You are wrong about Jimmy Carter be the reason your family lost their house. They lost it because they did not manage their funds well.
When interest rates went up the price of housing came down. I hope you just learned something today.
