Me and a friend got to explore the Blackhawk mine in the Randsburg area. It was the 2nd largest mine in the area. The 1st being the Yellow Aster. We went down the shaft using 2 165ft climbing ropes reaching level 3. From there we shined our lights down the shaft and saw 2 more levels with the shaft continuing and disappearing into the darkness. We were down there exploring all day. The workings were extensive. Good Times
My grandparents had a house here in ransburg I would visit as a child. Going to the old saloon and general store to get an ice cream Sunday was the highlight of the weekend. They have old cowboy shootout shows and the original jail at the begining of the town. You forgot to mention that the town was buried a while ago and then excavated to preserve the history. I highly recommend a trip there. It's like walking into the past.
Excellent presentation. Thanks. Did Dr. Rose Lamonte Burcham have anything to do with the naming of the town, Lamont? Would love to hear more stories about these amazing "pioneer" women in Kern county.

Been there as well. I never got so sick as the day I guzzled a rootbeer float at that shop in 110 temp heat lol
Thanks for posting, what a great story! I look forward to the next one. - Phil
