Are you stuck in your game? If so, where are you and what do you think is holding you back? Let us know - perhaps there is answer in a future video.
Great pickleball philosophist👍
Appreciate it.
Without any doubt, watching this video meaningfully improved my game in very short order. It taught me that better Pickleball play was not simply about hitting the ball and hoping that it gets over the net. It is about "Intentionality", "mechanics" & "strategy." Understand those three items -- and follow them -- and you're on your way to being a 4.0 to 4.5 player. Thanks for the great lesson.
Thank you much Mark. Glad it helped.
I am to the place where I am thinking more but end up being reactive to all the bangers at rec play. Need to work on that reset!!
Hi Beverly. Check out our defuse the bangers videos. They may help dealing with those situations. Keep working at it.
The BEST explanation I've seen!
Thank you! Starting now.... Intentional, NOT reactionary!!👍
Ty CR. Appreciate your intentionality in letting us know.
This is EXACTLY my philosophy for playing better pickleball, Tony! And yes, I come from collegiate level competition.
Great headline topics & breakdowns.
Thank you Michael.
Thanks this was really helpful, I saw myself making all the errors you talked about. I'm going to shift my play to do the things you recommended.
Glad it helped. Keep working on the game. One thing at a time.
Awesome!!! Thank you 🙏
You are most welcome
I remind my friends all the time that we need to practice like we did in little league baseball. We would practice the double play for 30 minutes and grounder practice for 30 minutes before we ever practiced batting. I never see anyone at our local courts practicing a skill.
That has definitely proven to be a limitation to players improving in their games.
Excellent video. Everything you said makes so much sense. I will be sending this to those players who think they are 4.0 (but really aren't).
Rating are always an interesting subject with players :). Thanks for sharing it.
This video was GREAT!!! I;m doing these things and have been getting better. But you're breakdown of the games has helped me a LOT! I try to watch games now with that in mind....not just watching to enjoy the game, but actually analyzing what they're doing when. THANKS VERY MUCH for your videos!!!
Thanks for the feedback Chuck. Glad they have helped. Keep working at it.
Tony, Is the let serve illegal beginning in 2022?
Hi Ann - the let serve rule remains unchanged.
Excellent info as always, thank you! In the video you mentioned a link in the Show Notes about the Three Pillars of PB, but I didn't see it. Can you re-post it or let me know where it is? Thanks for all you do for the PB community, Tony and CJ!!!
Hi Darci. Can you send us an email? Coaching@wearepickleball.com. We will send you a link (tech is holding it up a few days). Take care and thanks for the kind words.
Could not find the THREE PILLARS OF PB to download. Can you tell me where to find it? Many thanks for sharing so much valuable information!
Hi Sarvani. Thanks for reaching out. Send us an email coaching@wearepickleball.com. We are waiting on the tech dept to upload the pillars into our system. You can also come back to the video in the next day or so and the link should be there.
wow! that was awesome! I'm a 3.0 working on getting to a 3.5 (for now!) this was very helpful!!! I wish you'd come to Santa Fe, NM and do a clinic!
Thanks Ann. Send us an email at Camps@wearepickleball.com about coming to Santa Fe. We are always looking for places to visit and might be able to set something up :).
Nice instruction!
Thanks
Great stuff!
Thanks Scott.
If you are intending to play with intentionality and end up playing reactive pickleball; it is likely you are on defense. If that is the case, usually softening your shots till you can get a shot you can hit with intent, works best.
If you are on defense you can play with intentionality. You deliberately reset the ball and try and get to neutral.
@@kbotelho27 That falls into the levels of competence. When a player is trying to play intentionally; they are usually in the: Conscience Competent stage. (You understand the concepts, but to apply them, you have to think about them. In a lot of subjects or skills, you might never move beyond this level.) By the time they think about what to do the ball is already on their paddle. Resetting the ball in my mind is the same as softening your game. Getting to neutral is the same as waiting till you can place your next shot with intent.
@@dalevoigt8612 I provided an example of how a proactive player can play with intent no matter the situation. When a team hits Down at my feet while I am in the mid-court area, my plan is to reset the ball into the NVZ and move forward. That is what I intend to do. In practice, I put myself in that position so I can execute that shot. When the situation comes up, I attempt to execute what I have planned. I am thinking at least two moves ahead, I'm playing with intentionality.
Good stuff Ken and Dale. Thanks for sharing the concepts.
My problem is, every time I try to make a specific shot, I fail; but I succeed on most of reactionary shots. 99% of the time I found that I have no time to think and plan. Hence, only the first 3 shots of mine are intentional, and the rest are reactionary shots. I guess I’m doomed.
Hello Crazy5. This is a story of redemption not doom. you can add intentionality a bit at a time. You indicated that you have intention in the first 3 shots. Add one more and keep working. Good luck with it.
Always informative, thanks!!!!!!!!
Thank you Jay
