I remember him as Super A with the Andersons in Ga. He was a monster heel with Ole and Gene. Becoming Austin Idol was One of the greatest character reinventions ever.

It’s amazing to me that Roop, Garvin, and the others would do something like that video. Surely they must have known if it got out they would never work again. Maybe that’s why it never got out until recently. Fuller called their bluff. Those guys, especially Roop, who was the ringleader must not have been that smart

Austin idol was in the gym with Hulk Hogan that day before Hulk Hogan was named Hulk Hogan .Hogan was going by Sterling Golden. Austin Idol was the coolest and nicest man. It was great . I don't think people really know how really big time he was, and I've been around a lot of well known people.
Growing up in the florida panhandle not far from both the heorgia and alabama state lines in the 70s and 80s, people like austin idol, bob armstrong were our childhood heros. The houston co farm center and dothan alabama eere where it was at back then for us.
