I could have hoped that after over 4 centuries of bigotry and false claims against her we could have had by this time a more truthful and honest account of Mary Stuart. She was indeed a brave woman who did her best for her people but the hatred of the self-seeking Protestant nobles who never wanted her and sought only to win power for themselves destroyed her. But she was loved by the people in Scotland and indeed they supported her and outnumbered the army of the nobles at Languid. But they were only merchants and farmers and stood no chance against a well drilled army. Mary listened to the people which was unusual in Scotland. No proof exists that she murdered Darnley and at her trial in London no proof was produced against her there, only the so called 'copied documents' but nothing in her handwriting or with her seal that implicated her in the Babbington Plot. As I say I hope that justice to this lady will be given one day.
John Kearney her name was cleared from killing Darnley - its suspected angry family members plotted against Darnley and killed him. The sexist Scottish nobles used this as a way to rid her off her throne. Mary Stuart is innocent.
It’s so sad, almost every woman in history has been known as a bad person because men have always written history and recorded it. But Mary Queen of Scots is a whole different story, she has suffered to the day she died and has had everyone she loved taken away. Reign didn’t even portray how sad and tragic her life was. It breaks my heart. 💔
