Lambing Has Begun, an Update

We had 1 lamb born March the 9th during the kidding of the does. The rest of the ewes have started, and we have had 5 sets of twins. The first Jacobs sheep twins had on stillborn lamb, but all the rest have done well. We have 1 more ewe due in a few days then none for about a week. We have 20 more ewes to lamb which will occur throughout April. So far, the ewes are doing well with the exception of the Texel ewe who had no milk. Her lamb is being raised on a bottle and is with 6 kids. We removed one triplet from each of the 6 sets of triplets and are bottle feeding them as well. We are really enjoying lambing and kidding season and seeing the flock expand and realize our dream of building our sheep and goat farm.

They are doing well. We moved the 2 sets of twins to the shed. It's sunny today, a bit windy, but good day to move them. We put the Jacobs twins in the bigger family pen. They will do fine there.

I am curious... What ewe had no milk?

The Texel ewe. It was in an earlier video. She was the very first one to lamb. She was a 4H lamb we purchased from my grandniece. The udder formed but it was firm, no heat, and no milk. She appeared to develop normally so I didn't check it earlier. She was very attentive to the lamb. He is a good-looking ram/wether. My grandniece is coming this weekend to pick him up and also one of the bottle baby goats. They will be her 4H projects for this year.

It is a girl, both of them are girls. I mistakenly thought this one was a boy but when it was dry I realized that both the lambs were girls

It is a girl. I use the term ram which = boy and ewe which = girl. Thanks for watching.
