Omg Soph I can totally empathize with an unhappy living situation!! I left a lease early last year because of gaslighting from property management who would not admit there was a huge roach problem. I LOVE where I live now, and have 0 regrets leaving that horrible apartment early. You got this 💪

A landlord will always lie lie lie and deny deny deny. They are the worst. You gotta do what’s best for you, future rental companies can’t hold being annoying against you, they’ll be asking about late payments and keeping the place in good condition. If they’re not holding up their end of the lease you have every right to vacate!

curious if u have tried vinegar in your washer yet? put 2 or more cups of white vinegar and run on hottest longest cycle then after all rinsed and done leave it open to completely dry...I would guess the maint person cleaned any gukk from around the seal but if they didnt it will need de-gukked (aggressive cleaning) Im sorry u are having so much troubles

I feel like the landlord is breaking their agreement because if your apartment has mold, it is unsafe to live in. Also, if they’re not keeping up the apartment and making sure you have hot water and working appliances they provide that should be them breaking the contract. I would look into your lease bc a lease works two ways
Hey Soph. I work in the courts in a different jurisdiction, but thought I would give some advice on how to deal with the apt situation. Make sure you document the date time and duration of every incident. Also include some comments on what you did and what the landlord did to rectify each situation. I know what landlords can be like so just make sure you have documentation should you need to take other further.

Hi Soph! Hope you see this and it may help the landlord situation. This may be a state thing, but in my state, you can go to the courthouse and pay your rent there. It’s helpful when there are issues like the hot water (which is required by law to provide tenants) or the roaches and mold that are definitely a health hazard and the landlord won’t address the issues. And you won’t be in default of your lease because you are paying there. It’s called Tenant's assertion and rent escrow. Not sure about California or your county. If you do end up moving, I bet you could get out of breaking the lease as I’m sure the landlord is not upholding his part of agreement. I hate that you’re going through all of this. I hope it gets better. Having your safe space so disrupted is terrible ❤️

Once a landlord didn’t believe that there were cockroaches in the apartment and kept gaslighting me until finally I bought sticky bug traps and took a picture of the cockroaches that got stuck🙃

Girl you'll be okay...there are people in Palestine without quite literally anything. Plus, what things do you even have to do? Every vlog is the same, get up, drink coffee, work out, walk your dog, eat, make a tiktok, rant, cook, sleep, repeat. And wow! You could just move in with someone who literally has hot water! Crazy! I love you but you have no idea how privileged you are. It's pretty icky.

I moved to Southern California from Florida a few years ago and it is absurd how much they charge for rent just to ignore any valid concern we have here. Def follow your intuition! 🤍
