    Im blown away Nigel! I always wished for a reverse trike with either a Fergy or Oval track Ford front however straddled like on a bike with bike bars but could never figure out how to do the bike steering to turn the front wheels with the engine in the way. You sorted a car steering setup like on old Fords and other pre ww2 cars which is amazing. Beautifully and clever piece of Art.

    This thing is beautiful Nigel. I am building a replica of a 1928 Morgan Aero with the GN rear special designation. I have watched Charlie Martin drive the only one in existence in hillclimb races and other such competition and shows. The car is almost completely uncontrollable and is squarely at best and just plain dangerous at worst. This being said I am using an opposed twin engine in the front connected to an MGB transmission. I was absolutely lucky enough tools source an MGB rear complete with those beautiful wire wheels.The frame will be a combination of steel and wood enough to be able to affix aircraft fabric sprayed with plasticizer. With the rear MGB diff now there will be decent brakes . I look forward to making a mahogany dashboard and using airplane gauges or making the cockpit look like a real airplane cockpit from the 20's. I will have to be better at video-ing all of my work for this one. I have plans for another 1935 replica using a Honda Goldwing motor and drivetrain all the way to the single rear wheel. Thanks for sharing your build. It is very inspirational.

      You are welcome !! Thanks for kind words ..I have found to control ''squirrely front end , on the beam axle , you need a lot of castor angle (7 degrees)

    Awesome. This thing is the coolest reverse trike I've seen. I have a 82 kzp 1100 shaft drive. I build cafe racers and bobbers. Shaft drive is undesirable for this. How stable is the drive shaft? Does it want to twist? How did you overcome this?

    • @NigelLoller
      @NigelLoller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi ..Thanks for kind comments ! .. Re twist none , but I used two Suzuki universal joints , and two bearing carriers (plumber blocks ) to support the shaft ..Only issue is backlash on the splines of the UJ's ..this is audible when you feather the throttle

    I have been wondering if I should build a rear engine or front mount.
    I have a shaft drive Honda for my donor bike. What has been your experience, likes dislikes?
    I have a John Deere cowling I have had for many years.
    Your trike looks like a blast to drive.

      Shaft drive is perfect for front mount ..there is a bit of faff with uj's as you need to run intermediate prop shaft support bearings ( plummer blocks) would be a shame to have nice tractor front end , with no engine under it !

    First I have to say outstanding. I have a question though. What is the shaft I see going fore and aft in pillow bearings I first see it at 2:02 minutes

      Hi .. Thank you for kind comments ..this is the drive shaft to the rear wheel extra bearings for safety , and support for the universal joints ( UJ s)

      You obviously know little to nothing about mechanical engineering , as shock absorbers can run at any angle (even horizontal) if the linkages allow
