- Jojo Siwa's new song 'Karma' was originally recorded back in 2012 by singer/songwriter Brit Smith. There's even a music video that was unreleased which has since gone viral on TikTok. Page Six's Astra exclusively sat down with Brit to find out why she never initially released the song, how Miley Cyrus was rumored to have passed on it, and her thoughts on Jojo's version.

Not only that, but knowledgable too - she clearly had fully researched this topic and knew about everything surrounding it, unlike some interviewers who see it as "just another interview" and briefly read some notes beforehand. Karma is now a success because of Jojo - let's stay real here, the Song itself isn't THE best. Brit was a nobody back in the day, like she still is, it would've probably still fell off if she would've released it back in the day.....

It's really sad how many talented artists like her there must be in the music industry who get discarded by a label before their career can even start. Glad she has those opportunities again.

I'm pretty sure Brit Smith's team probably purchased the exact same rights back in 2012. The authors can allow as many people as want to record their song. I relate to her story I use to sing from the ages of 6 to 24 I quit making music after 3 songs in 2013 after years of being told no by the music industry but the moral of the story never give up on your dreams it’s never to late ❤
