I HATED Lois as a kid.
As an adult, I understand now. That poor woman lol

Young Me: Lois is pure evil. She treats her kids like garbage.
Adult Me: I completely understand. Lois is awesome.
best part is you get to watch Francis make that same realization in real time throughout the show
@@dgmnlover52 Thats my favourite part, also how malcome realises too i think the only one who doesnt relise is reese as his a straight up phyco
Nah nah nah nah you have to keep in mind she absolutely has problems. She’s a control freak. Like yeah, they need her, but she is NOT perfect.
She’s awesome though we love her
in a sitcom - yes. In real life ? No.
Yelling at your kids and making them feel bad is the dumbest mistake you could do as a parent.
Lois is actually a really good mother when you consider that she was able to raise five kids with Hal and do so in both a strict and warm way. She yells at Francis, but she still sends him cookies. She manages to see Reese as more than a troublemaker. She doesn't make Malcolm feel weird about being super intelligent. She doesn't spoil Dewey or Jamie and she doesn't let them feel ignored.
What's the difference between the memory of going for a run and the memory of watching a run through the eyes of another?
@@threesidedtriangle1798 it's written, life's not. It's a nice sentiment you conjure, but no mate.
It always cracks me up that the guys run away from the phone even though it isn't their mom and she's a thousand miles away! 😂😂
Blaze9516 No child should be afraid of their parents, only they should have proper respect and love for their parents.
Without her, their world crumbles. She's the solid rock the family stands on. People take their mothers for granted.
It’s true. I’ve seen the way some people treat and talk to their moms, it makes me sad. I’d do anything to have just one minute with my mom again.
Right. Without her the family would collapse. Just watch the bowling episode
Yeah, but I'll bet you wouldn't catch Nicole Watterson acting like Lois.😏😏

Lois is hands down one of the greatest TV moms. Jane Kaczmarek couldn't have done a better job. I can't see anyone else give a performance the way she did.
Of course you can't see anyone else play the role cause she's all we've ever experienced in that role!🤷🏾♂️ lol
@@obesepersonI disagree. Laurie Metcalf, Felicity Huffman, and Jane Krawkowski comes to mind.
I can't imagine Lois being played by anyone else. Legit Lois is the mom our inner child hates, but all of us relate to on a truly spiritual level as adults.

Lois is actually a good mom fitting for their family type. Any other mom wouldn't be able to handle it

I loved when Lois and Francis argued because they’re basically the same. You could even say that’s the main reason they argue so much.
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa333 yeah I'm opinionated like my mom & we argue a lot bc we don't agree
to: Newmixgirl
Nicole and Gumball would totally fit the Lois and Francis category.
I have a sister and mom who are very similar to each other, they bicker all the time.
It's amazing how similar they all are to Lois in some way. Francis has the personality/anger, Malcolm has the mind, Reese the impulse for violence, Dewey the liking of having authority. Now you mix Hal's immature attitude and you get this.
Why would you pick the dad as the immature one? He is not one of the kids.
That is when you know its fantastic writing. All these little details probably most shows don´t even care about. There was this one scene where Hal remembers his time as Kid Charlemagne and he ACTUALLY looks like a little older version of Malcolm and even acts as one.
Brilliant
Michelle you must not have watched the show , Hal in his younger days was reckless one and Lois was the passive one . An incident with a young Francis literally flipped her switch . She then became the more dominant force and him not having to take the reigns reverted to a passive yet still silly version of himself . As he gets entangled in numerous silly situations just as much as the boys . For example when they volunteered at school and he got into the mop fight , the speed walking episode , when he kept fighting the coworker , how he couldn’t defend Lois against his family’s judgement, trying to impress the young coworkers, getting drunk and busting a hole in the house 😂😂 etc .They literally have to push him to the edge to break him and he can’t even break all the way anymore . Even in the what if scenario where the boys are girls he is still passive and bend to the will of the girls which is immature for a parent .
Volker Racho yep he was the radical and more immature one at first just in the way he was a young bachelor . Lois was the more prim and proper one (although Hal actually came from a prestigious background ) . Good to find someone that actually watched the show in the comments . Lol he even tried to do it again , he’s just as silly as the boys and that’s where they get their Mischievous whimsical ways .
When i was a kid I thought this woman is a psychopath, but now as a grown up and a father of 2 boys i totally feel her
She IS a psychopath. Her children wouldn't be that way if she wasn't that way.
I bet the same can be said for you and your family.
Blaming and punishing your kids for behavior they learned from you and your wife.
"She's gonna reveal herself for the evil banshee she really is" 😂
Lois and Francis' relationship was my favorite thing about this show.
Straight up that part where she sees shes actually bad at dancing but hal think shes dances beautiful is like hecking cute
Lois is actually the hero in this series. She supposed to be the antagonist but literally 95% of these clips is her yelling because the boys did something
The worst was when Francis blamed her for the parking tickets he never paid. Saying he doesn't have enough time to have fun so he had to drive recklessly? That ALONE would've been enough for her to tell him he better pay or he won't be coming home.
@@Kaboomboo also I kinda feel bad for Lois because in the end, Francis still tortures her.
Me:
One thing's for sure, both Lois and Nicole Watterson have strict, yet sometimes patient and loving personalities.
Is she supposed to be the antagonist? The show is supposed to represent a lower middle class family, why should one member be the bad person?

If people think she is a bad mom, they didnt even think of these childrens personalities. If she had been any less strict, they would've ruined their life.
Well its implied that they were born monsters but, in reality kids behabior is conditioned by how they are treated
@@stormisuedonym4599
I disagree, its been proven that the way they are treated is far more important, for example, lets say a violent criminal had a son with a drug addict, if child services get to the child and put it in adoption, the child could be adopted by a regular family and the child could become a functioning member of society if hes adopted in time

“That’s it! Stand up! Get back! Come here! Go there!” I love how she just rapid fire runs the entire room all while using the least amount of syllables possible. I laughed so hard the first time I saw that 😂

It was 100 percent true tho, now you can't get a fucking human to answer anymore
As an adult, Lois did a really good job at parenting : all she wanted was her kids to be honest and have integrity and try their best while staying out of trouble.
It's true. She didn't have great communication skills, but even if she was more empathic her kids would have just taken advantage of it. They proved that multiple times with other parental figures.
Agree, Francis ended up getting a stable job, Reese did not end up in jail as everyone thought he would, Malcolm went to Harvard, and Dewey broke the cycle of mean brothers. I’d say she did a really good job.
Episodes where Lois went too far:
Red Dress (Fixated on blaming the boys for burning a dress they weren't even responsible for)
Traffic Ticket (Expecting Francis come up with over $700 out of nowhere is ridiculous)
Evacuation (Grounding Malcolm for being late from the library studying was kinda ridiculous, continuing said grounding during the evacuation was absolutely horrendous, so glad she got in trouble with the guard over it.)
Health Scare (Yes she was stressed out about a potential cancerous lump Hal had, but a two-week grounding over a little mud on the floor that they even planned on cleaning up was not necessary)
Christmas (Holding the holiday hostage was insane, but fortunately even she realized that)
Hal's Birthday (She met Piama in this episode, yeah...)
Academic Octathlon (Honestly, she shouldn't have forced Malcolm to compete in an obviously rigged competition.)
Malcolm's Job (Forcing Malcolm to work at her place of employment but not Reese? Yeah, that's not right.)
Softball (Just too much smothering by her on Malcolm)
Malcolm Visits College (She really had no good reason to hijack his college visit)
Hal's Christmas Gift (Granted Hal was the one who stole Malcolm's credit card, but Lois went right along with it.)
No Motorcycles (Unless she lost someone close to her in a motorcycle accident, there's honestly no reason for her to freak out at the idea of them)
Butterflies (Forcing her teenage son to work a graveyard shift with her is pretty messed up)
Stilts (See Malcolm's Job above)
Malcolm's Money (Equally as guilty as Hal and Dewey here)
Graduation (Turning down a six-figure job on Malcolm's behalf was NOT her decision to make, nor is expecting him to become POTUS)
Lois isn't a mere woman, she's a force of nature
I like to imagine that their family shouldn't be that poor, it's just the amount of fines, property damage and medical bills they've racked up over the years have put them in the red.
One thing I love about Lois's relationship with the boys is that, even while constantly at each other's throats, they'll stick up for each other if an outsider tries to hurt them. My favorite examples are when the boys destroyed that catered dinner for making Lois cry and when Lois took revenge on 3 girls for humiliating Reese by finding out what they loved the most and destroying it.
She also broke the window of a car that had a dog trapped in it on a hot day, and yelled at a woman for being racist to a Mexican worker(just examples I've seen in the videos so far) I don't think she should be destroying her sons' toys in place of dealing with it other ways, but I also know stress does horrible horrible things to one's reaction
Another example is when Francis gets emancipated and other brothers say that no matter how much they go against Lois, they would never abandon her. They even go as far as shunning him for the night. Even when Francis does end up leaving, he continues to provide support by consistently visiting, particularly the episode when Lois has Jamie. Francis helps her give birth and offers to provide financial support when the family got sued by the grandma.
She for sure had her flaws and there were some moments in the show that were questionable, but she ultimately was an amazing mom. Considering how neglected and small he own family made her feel growing up, to be able to change your parenting to actually be an effective and healthy tough love situation is impressive. I’m not a mother but I can’t imagine how difficult it is.
I look back at my childhood growing up with this show and realize how good we had it in the early 2000's

I'd have to concur, she's easily one of the best TV moms ever, her and Kitty Forman are epically accurate about the reality of having super sonic mom ears, playing detective, and always being 100,000,000 gazillion steps ahead! Lol I love it!
Especially accurate how 1 of them left to go fuck a bunch of dudes.

Lois was strict but damn they were terrible
But when resse live by him self in the bachelor apartment, all that knowledge and discipline paid off, until the end of the chapter.
It must have been crazy how much time Jane would have had to dedicate to warm up her voice for every single episode
When they behaved their mom was cool as hell. They just kept having to try her and purposely broke rules just to do it.
"Now I'm not one to complain-"
"That's why we like you!"
Yeah that's about right.
Lois: Scared you won't beat your mommy?

She addresses that at one point, asking why she always has to be the party pooper and Hal always being able to be the fun one to the kids
She truly was a great character, a true real mother who was putting up with so much during everyday life. The stress of having a family to really control, all the ups n downs that come with it and the woman still managed to keep it together. She really is the true gem of the series.
My favorite Lois moment is when the boys entered her name in the pageant as a joke and won bc she was just herself. It showed how much she sacrificed her life for her family lol

I havent watched this show and i didnt even know it existed until now but man these clips are having me in splits😂
That’s not… that’s not how you use the word. Credibility means having to prove something so your words can be trusted/proven. Like doing research you would need references to make your point creditable. What you meant to say is this woman needs more credit.
I used to watch this as a teen and after watching Lois screaming and yelling for years, I realized how MUCH HARDER is being a mother than a father! I gave up having kids and decided to travel around the world! I'm much more chill than ALL my "married with children" cousins!

It has a higher moral than many other shows. Yes, they make a lot of trouble but in the end they stay together.
And lois is just great, you can see she really loves and cares about her boys and her family.
And Hal sometimes seems like he's just one of her children.

The more you think looking back, the more Lois becomes the most understandable person in the whole show, despite being the biggest jerkass of them all. Outside of Dewey of course I feel a lot of them kinda lost that, especially Malcolm. There are a few exceptions with Lois of course (Garage Sale) but most of the time I found her the funniest and most relatable of the group.
