I'm really enjoying these videos and learning about Michigan geology! It would be great to see content about Southern Michigan -- not the usual topics such as "Michigan was formed by glaciers ..." No one talks about the fascinating bigger picture geology. I was so excited to discover the Midcontinent Rift and the Grenville Front boundary trend through the SE Michigan region! That's huge geology and very few non geo folks know this! Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video!
Glad to hear you're liking our videos! Michigan's seismic activity history is on our list of topics to cover, but will likely be posted after we finish up the natural resources videos currently in the works :)
This is all great but I couldn’t help having a slight sinking feeling at the realization that the only possible result of all this greatness is inevitably desolation. To extract, to mine, to take away-desolation. What is there cannot both remain and be taken away. So how much may be taken away? Anyone?
Coal was also found in crystal falls Michigan in the upper peninsula at the Bristol mine
Great video! Looking forward to more
Good vid, copper mining in the UP continued until the 90‘s though with the white pine mine
