Reds spin attack really gives me flashbacks of those terpsicolts on my first playthrough of remake. Damn spinning seahorses! Love his unique phasing dodge in siphon fang. Seems so simple but it’s honestly so good. That knockback protection combined with the ability to get behind the enemy and sap a little HP is really good. Loved that phasing behind the enemy for Cloud’s punisher swap too, I’m happy red can do it.

I don't know really. Block everything you can to build up your vengeance. Then press triangle to avoid damage, while entering Vengeance mode. Then use vengeance mode attacks to build your ATB faster and to stagger enemies faster.

I stopped using sentinel stance in my latest runs cuz i wanted to focus on getting stardust rays out to deal with the mooks. I was hoping there was a way to actually block rebirth flame, but i guess i gotta work on staggering him before he pulls it off.
@@Avtenom i try, but my atb management habit makes me prioritize stardust ray. I find myself just trying to pull off perfect blocks instead. I see ye use faith too. Is stardust ray magic based? I wasnt able to confirm this. I know in OG ff7, stardust ray uses attack stat (iirc)
@Avtenom Hey hey, Barret is a lot better now. Still very simple to play but actually pretty good thanks to buffed Focused Shot and Bonus Round. I just know you find him slow and boring lol Aerith, though, I won't argue with. The tools she has in the demo are neat, but she doesn't feel great to play at all and has been nerfed badly in many aspects. Lower level magic is worse too so her spellcaster niche is inferior for sure. If Barret gets a properly full moveset with more dynamic attacks, I think he'll be pretty good this time around. Maybe lol
Did you know that you can get a double stagger if you doing really bad damage in the 1st stagger and go full out after with high stagger moves until he half life and than stagger him out with a stagger ability or blizzara on the rebirth cast. Its really tricky but could speed up this fight by a lot. Basicly skipping the whole second part. I loved red 13 design with the perfect parries and counters. Great fight!
@@Avtenom You can get 2 staggers in a row without phoenix spawning a 2nd round of mobs. If you do really low damage in the stagger, you can focus everything on the part after. Where Phoenix does the fire aoe's on the ground and if you get him to half life with decent stagger build up you can stagger him out rebirth flame and get the 2nd stagger way sooner and kill him much faster. Basicly skipping the 2nd part of the fight.

The timing for the perfect guards is just masterful. I managed to solo phoenix with red xiii today, but still far from doing a no-damage one.

He’s actually pretty good once you get used to his combat. Took me at least a few hours to understand his fight style

Yeah the hard part is to manage his Rebirth thing.

I'm not sure about stardust. But since i use elemental materia + Ice to add some magical damage on my physical attacks, Faith is useful.

I'd say yes. But it's weird.
I noticed it was a closer call than aerith and tifa solo runs I’ve seen, he kind of lacks in damage a bit but not a whole lot

Ok, this sounds a bit dumb from me but how do you take no damage at all (talking about the immunity)? Is this just a counter or whatever?
Perfect block makes it so you take no damage.
Perfect blocks, Sentinel stance ability and entering Vengeance make Red XIII immune.
Are you holding down r1 and releasing on hit?
Yes. That makes a counter attack.
